I was listening to 102.7 WNEW in New York and I heard the Tom and Jerry theme song. Not the greatest news in the world.

Maybe this thread should be changed to "Classic Cartoon Sounds and Themes Heard on the Radio". One of my local stations play The Bugs Bunny Show theme, while another plays sound clips of Daffy saying "Would it be possible if we made up our minds, hmmm?" from "Duck Amuck", and Sylvester Jr. saying "Oh, father, what are we, cannibals?" from "Birds of a Father".

Thad, what is the radio station you are referring to?

And I just heard for a few seconds some music from " Bad Luck Blackie ".

It's weird to hear classic cartoon music on a station like this.

On 102.1 The Edge in D/FW, occasionally they will talk about someone being crazy, or "loony", and a clip of the "Looney Tunes" (Merry Go round Broke Down) song will play. They do other cartoon sounds, but most all are from the Simpsons, like the little "I'm scared" or "d'oh!" Also, there's one of Daffy that is, I believe, from "Space Jam" or some other modern production, that they play when someone stammers, that says something like "spit it out, Pork breath!" Occasionally they'll play a "Brak" song, too. There was also a station for a while that played the Ren and Stimpy theme, and one oldies station, 98.7KLUV, used the Road Runner's beep beep for a traffic report, and someone else's traffic reports use the Jetsons theme.

Radio Disney once played the original Bugs & Daffy theme. I'm still searching for a good sound file of This Is It, if anyone knows where I can get one.

Here are two:

1) In a morning show jingle, 97.5 WPST in Trenton (NJ) uses Daffy's line (from Daffy Duck Slept Here) "Wake Up Everybody, Rise And Shine..."

2) Marvin The Martian is used on 99.3/105.5 WZBZ/WGBZ "The Buzz" in Atlantic City/South Jersey Shore...his line, "Isn't It Delightful?" I forget which cartoon that was from.

IIRC, the original "This Is It" theme was featured on the TeeVee Tunes ablum "Television's Greatest Hits, Volume 1." You can listen to a sample of the album at the TVT Records (http://tvtrecords.com) website, or visit SoundAmerica (http://www.soundamerica.com) and listen to it from there. If this is not the original 1960 variation (they had additional vocals in this one), notify us at once.

Good luck. :p

Speaking of which, what’s the name of that Tom and Jerry theme song? I heard that it’s called “Love that Pup”. Is it because that was the first T&J cartoon the theme appeared in?

Actually, I've thought that Sound America just ripped it off from one of the ABC or late CBS era themes, and deleted all of the excess intro garbage that seems to be in all of the other versions of the theme I've heard online. My kingdom for a definitive recording of the song! My other kingdom for an untainted copy of the end theme!!!
