So, what does everyone use to draw around here? Crayons, pencils, colored pencils, markers? Tell us about your artistic side (if you're lucky enough to have one, unlike me, who needs an hour to make a person look like a person :p  ).

I have no artistic talent, but on those one in a million type deals where I just feel like drawing, I use... a pen, which wasn't on the poll. Just I'll have to settle with being artistically challenged again.

(sigh)

Oh My GOSH!!! I am SOOO sorry! I ENTIRELY forgot about pens!!! <begins banging her head on the computer moniter>

Um, could I get a mod to add "Pens" to the poll? Thanks.

I thought you could add/edit a poll choice by clicking edit....oh well.
I just get whatever I can find. :D

All "art pencils" scare me. Too many different types. So I just use normal pencils. I occasionally color in my drawings with colored pencils, but usually, that's just for things I draw for friends. (That doesn't happen much)

I usually use the normal pencil, if not pastels. ;) Though I still *am* artistically challenged. :p

I don't really sit down to purposely draw anymore. I haven't done that in years & years. But I do doodle a lot when I'm bored in class, at work, or wherever else. So usually that's in pen, but sometimes in pencil.

This really belongs in the Drawing Board, so that's where it's going! We've had other discussions like this, but always good to have more and here what the different artists have to say.

If you're talking STRICTLY DRAWING, I'd have to go with pencils. Just ordinary, HB pencils. I'm not good enough to do all my drawings without the need of an eraser yet - and I doubt I ever will be. :)

Pen, marker is the closest description offered. Pencil gets the best results (since erasing is so easily), but I just love the easy effects of pen - great for doodling.

Ordinary pencils, because I make a LOT of mistakes ^^;

A mechanical pencil is normally what I have on hand. It works great for me and it's the only tool I'm the most comfortable with, even though I've got loads of proffessional tools in my room...collecting dust. Lol, but you gotta go for what works!

Pencils and black ink. Without pencils, I couldn't erase. And if I couldn't erase..... ugh. And ink just because I like to ink my drawings.

Colored pencils for me. I love colors, because for me, they really bring out a lot in my pictures, even though I suck at coloring. I also really like my Sakura inking pens.

Y'know, I never got into using mechanical pencils. I always seemed to break the lead or the plastic tip of the pencil kept digging into the paper, resulting in all these ugly little grooves.

What's the best type of lead to use, anyway? Usually I use HB, but it's still a little smudgy when I colour with pencil crayons (ESPECIALLY flesh tones). Would an F or an H pencil be better?

I use an ordianry pencil to draw and then "ink" it with a fine double nipped black marker and colour it with pencil crayons and sometime double nipped markers.

Personally, I really like a combination of pencil and pen, because I can draw a rough sketch in pencil, draw a finished one over it in pen, and erase the pencil if I want to. And I hate those cheap gel-ink pens, those are crap...I like the flow-ink "Uniball vision elite" or the "pilot"...black.
