Ok here goes.

Im sure all a lot of you have read my original post about TAS Supergirl well this is sort of a sequel post to that. This is by no means Spamming ( that goes for you moderators)

TAS Batgirl has got to be one of the best teenagerish aged Superheroines ever.

She has a great character, She is complex and genuine. This is all due to who she was raised by. Gordon was obviously a great father to her, you could tell in how their relationship is. She is a good person, who is fighting for a just cause as oppose to Supergirl who just seems like she is out to have fun.

The fact that she was not handed superpowers on a silver platter also is a main factor. She has to work harder at things, to me this makes her much cooler( this is also the same reason I like Batman better than Superman)

The fact that she had to work harder to develop her skills also built her character. She is a better person because she has no Superpowers.

Barbra Gordon is also a genuinly kind and loving person. You could tell she really cared about the people around her and her job as a Hero. She actually cared. You can even see some of this in The Gotham Girls Webtoon. She also knows how to kick butt.

Batgirl never had a bad attitude or was mean to anyone who did not deserve it. Thank God she never did the whole annoying teenager thing.

Supergirl has a really bad attitude. She was mean to the Kents from time to time, coping an attitude even with Superman and she was so cold to poor Jimmy Olsen who had a big crush on her.

Batgirl never coped an attitude to her elders. She was always respectfull. To Batman to Alfred and to her Father who she loves .

Well thats that.

Well I don't deny anything you said about Batgirl, although I don't agree entirely with everything you say about Supergirl. She didn't seem like that bad of a character. The big difference here is, last time I checked, Batgirl is not a teenager, neither is Nightwing for the matter. Both of these characters are supposed to be out of college, meaning they are no longer teens! So Batgirl shouldn't be acting "teenage'ish", it's a bad thing if she is. If she acts "girly", sure that's one thing, but not like a teenager. But Kara is supposed to be a teenager, and she acts like it, to me at least, all throughout Superman TAS. Teenager's are mean sometimes, and cold, goofy, funny and random. Kara's been nothing but a teenager superhero in the show.

I will admit Batgirl is one of my favorite cartoon heroines and I agree with most of the stuff you said about Barbara but I have to defend Supergirl. Remeber Kara was an alien she was new to this world we called earth. If I was an alien teenager stuck on a planet that I didn't understand I would critize it too. Kara was a spunky character and we didn't really see alot of Supergirl on Superman:TAS than we saw Batgirl on Batman:TNAS. I would blame the character Supergirl cause in the comics she cool but really Supergirl is just acting like a regular teen just like me. I get a crappy attuide sometimes (I guess some of you on the boards can tell :p) cause of horomones and I'm jerky being a jerky teenager. It's ususal.

Ultimately I would say that Batgirl is a better character than Supergirl - however, I don't think that, during TNBA, Batgirl's character was fleshed out very well. On her first few appearances in the original series, she was a great addition to the cast because of her innocence and inexperience to crime-fighting; that, and the by-play between her and Dick and the relationship between her and her father worked really well. SUB-ZERO was another good appearance.

On TNBA, she was nothing more than a "female quota" sidekick, for the most part - personally, I thought her character took a step back. True, there was the romantic (or lack thereof) tension between her and Dick, but that storyline was left untapped for the most part. In fact, her best appearance, in my opinion, was the story in which she died (OVER THE EDGE); the themes in that episode was very well thought out.

By the time BATMAN BEYOND came along, her character was well developed again - she was like a cross between her father and Bruce. Part dedicated, part righteous, and part bitter.

I agree with you 100%. The B:TAS Batgirl was a better character than S:TAS Supergirl but S:TAS Supergirl was a better character than TNBA Batgirl for all the reasons you stated. While I love "Over the Edge," it is sad that Batgirl's best episode was the one that took place almost entirely within her subconscious.

Besides, I like Batgirl better when she is not an official part of the Bat-team.

I don't know, I think Kara's got a pretty good attitude towards life considering she lost her entire planet while she was a teenager, as opposed to Clark who lost everything when he was a baby...I liked the spunk in Kara's personality when she had appearances on STAS, especially in her debut "Little Girl Lost".
