Anime on DVD (http://www.animeondvd.com) has posted a press release (http://www.animeondvd.com/press/other/general032.php) out of ADV listing the table of contents for the upcoming first issue of the English Newtype magazine. Included in the first issue will be a feature article on the upcoming ASA show, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. This should provide lots of new info and pics from the series, and maybe, just maybe, some new information on the AS broadcast (since we can't seem to get anything out of CN themselves).
Also of note to CN watchers is a feature on Tenchi Muyo! GXP, which, given the fact that Funimation is producing the English version, is almost guaranteed to be on CN on one block or the other. There's also a feature on Bandai's .hack//SIGN, which has a strong possibility of showing up eventually. Finally, the cover story will be on the brand new Gundam SEED series, which will air here sooner or later...probably on Toonami, though.
The issue will also have a section called "Anime Land" which includes "what's on TV in the U.S. and Japan", as well as a DVD preview disc from Bandai.
UPDATE:
ADV has just issued a press release regarding how you can get your own copy of Newtype. Major chain retailers that will sell the magazine include Suncoast, Sam Goody, Barnes & Noble, Borders, Media Play, Waldenbooks, Fry's, Tower, and Gordon & Gotch Canada. The first issue is set to ship on October 10th, and should be at those stores around the 15th. The full text of the press release can be found here (http://www.animeondvd.com/press/other/general033.php).
Also, if you want a check out the first issue of the magazine, and also happen to be a regular shopper at Right Stuf (http://www.rightstuf.com), they've got a deal that might be right up your alley. If you place an order at their site for $125 or more, you can use the coupon code "newtype-1102" to get yourself a FREE copy of the first issue of Newtype. Which might be a very nice deal, if you were planning on placing a rather large order anyways. Better hurry, though, the offer expires on 10/11/02!
EDIT^2: I aplogize AGAIN. It's terribly confusing, but I think I've got it nailed down now. The issue Right Stuf is giving away is the first issue, and not the preview issue. I've reverted the post to the way it originally was, and hopefully won't have to change it again. Darn you, Right Stuf, and your confusing deals! *shakes fist*
