E.T., Atari 2600.
To be truthful, most of those early Atari games were less than spectacular.

I have visited many website reviews of bad video games, and there is this one Atari game that is on everyone's list of worst video games.
It was called "Custer's Revenge" (I think) and it featured Col. Custer in lewd acts with female indians...or something like that.

I still can't figure out what the hell you were suppose to do in that E.T. game. Then again, I guess it would've helped if the flea market or whereever my parents found it at had a manual to go with it.

For right now I only have a top 3:
3.) Superman 64 (N64)
Terrible game. It was delayed so long for nothing. The screenshots looked alright, but the end product was so undetailed and crappy looking it was even funny. The music was some of the most annoying around, I would always set it on mute. Also what's the point of playing as superman when all you do is fly in circles with sluggish controls. I returned it the day after day 1 (and it was a 5-day rental!).
2.) Bram Stalker's Dracula (Sega CD)
Want to hear something really annoying? Play the first level of this game and listen to these ear screeching sound effects of attempted "eery wind blowing". Extremely sluggy control, the graphics even at the time of Sega CD were putrid. No detail, pixelated, and very limited amount of colors (again, even for the Sega CD). I only bought this game because it came with Cliff Hanger for $9.99 (an okay game to start out with, but when you arrive at the snowboarding level, well you're going to be stuck there pretty much forever).
.... and now for my worst of the worst video game!
1.) Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventures for NES
I haven't played Atrari's E.T. nor some of the other horrid games I heard about from the early 80s Atari systems, but hear me out. You start the game, see some digitized images of Bill and Ted, then you go to a Payphone. Pound some numbers in, nothing happens! I even saw a phonebook, tried those numbers, nothing worked. All that happened was that I remained at a payphone where you just pound freak'n numbers in. I want to give it a second chance, but haven't found a way to do so yet. Anyway until i give it a 2nd chance or something worse comes along, this remains the worst!

::giggles:: No joke. I had the same problem for that and the Indiana Jones atari games. A friend of my brother worked at a plant where he got his hands on hundreds of cart-less atari chips which he'd share with his friends; we had about eight copies of indiana jones, and not one flippin' clue as to what we were supposed to do!
Back on track, Strawberry Shortcake for the atari 2800 (i'm pretty sure it was a 2800 title) gets my vote. I also didn't like the Predator game for the Atari Jaguar... but then, I didn't care much for any of the Jaguar games, that controller was murder!
So much backtracking that I couldn't stand it.
For some reason, that reminds me of the Save-&-Try-and-Load-and-Take a Step-and-Save-&-Load-and-try-&-Load-Again feature of Tomb Raider. That game also gets a vote.

Yeah...I think it was about raping female indians or something...really offensive...if not for the fact that the graphics barely resembled anything.

If you want to know the 20 worst video games in history then take a look at this list (http://www.seanbaby.com/nes/egm20.htm).
The worst game of all time is ET, The Extra Terrestrial (2600).
The Atari E.T. game is so bad that five million E.T. cartridges were buried in the middle of the Mexico dessert.

They're buried in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Unfortuntely, they steamrolled over all the copies of E.T., Pac Man, prototypes and unsold 2600's, so an archealogical dig would be pointless. By the way, that article was the funniest thing ever in an EGM.

Are you serious? They actually steamrolled over the spot? Man, I would've loved to go to Alamogordo, NM and just dig there to see what I could find.
Oh and yes, that "20 Worst Video Games of All Time" article in EGM was probably one of their best articles if not the best. Seanbaby, the guy who wrote the article, was extremely funny.

Justice League Task Force? That was a terrible game, I played the Genesis version. Well it's by Acclaim, I think that says enough (well they have a few good games I guess). Midway has the right to today's Justice Leagues, considering they don't make the best of games, I personally don't like the sound of it.
I hated Donkey Kong 64. So much backtracking that I couldn't stand it.
I agree, that game was dissapointing and very repetitive. Also, it didn't feel much like a 3D update to Donkey Kong Country (minus Donkey's tumble, can't remember Diddy too well, Tiny had Dixie's cool hair thing though), it felt too much like another Mario 64. Rare was/is a good company, but some of their 3D Platformers weren't too great.

Just finished that site... it was great!
and the entire world is covered in a dull green fog. The game calls this "Kryptonite fog," but it looks suspiciously like something they put there so they didn't have to draw more than a couple buildings.
:D :D HAHAA.. I remember when this game came out. Putting Superman in a "virtual world" with "kryptonite fog" to justify the weakest graphics in the history of N64 was hilarious! In fact... let me go dig up IGN's review...
"Imagine if all developers explained their game's visual limitations in storyline. "No, no -- those are not jumpy framerates you are seeing. Superman is merely drunk, which also blurs his vision considerably. Or maybe, "You've got it all wrong, that is not clipping. Superman is simply using his X-Ray vision to look through the walls."
I'd never seen Zelda: Wand of Gamelon before. I wish I'd never had! :o

Extreme Sports With the Berenstein Bears
(I'd rather watch Laffalympics!)
Street Fighter: The Movie
(Nuff said.)
Bible Adventures
(The thought of losing Baby Mosess to giant spiders should be A sin.)
Kriss Kross: Make My Video
(Where are they now? Wouldn't that be A laugh, and A half!)
Bubsy 3D
(That's when Bubsy jumped the shark.)
Rolling Thunder for the NES
(Not A good port. I wish Namco would include this in their Museum series.)
Any movie, or comic licence from Acclaim
(Especially in the 16 bit years.)
Rapjam Volume One
(Sorry, but A volume 2 with an AO rating featuring today's rap artists wouldn't do it for me.)
Any Simpson home consol game
(Why the arcade game isn't on the home consoles is beyond me.)
Night Trap
(It's bad enough that Dana Plato had A tough time after "Different Strokes")
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the NES
(Your better off playing the arcade game)
Revolution X
(The coin op was fun, but the PS1 port left much to be desired. Would've been great with the GunCom, or the Justifier.)
Custer's Revenge
(What's amazing is that nobody complained about Custer's lude act.)
Superman 64
("Fly through 75 hoops in one minute, or die?" Please.)
House Of The Dead for Saturn
(Please bring it to PS2, Sega!)
Captain Novolin
(I'd rather play "Food Fight", or "Splat")
Fight For Life
(Virtua Fighter looked better than this!)
E.T. The Extraterrestrial
(Nuff said.)

And not a one mention for Where's Waldo on NES?
Anyway... ET for Atari had 1 big flaw... they produced more games than there were systems in existence. One of the main reasons they buried so many of them. Even if every Atari owner bought it, they would still have an abundance leftover.

I agree that the SNES version of Final Fight leaves Much to be desired. only THe Sega CD, and Gameboy Advance versions are near perfect. I just wish Capcom would bring Final Fight One to the Playstation.
Batman Beyond Return of the Joker. Talk about pointless, no movie clips, crap art, stupid charcter designs, 2 villians from ROTJ and the fact that you had a shield that no one could hurt you with you when you were it.
X-men Children of the Atom on the PS1 sucked too. Moves were impossible and Magneto was just too hard.

Here are a few of others:
X-Men vs. Street Fighter (PS1)--graphics were choppy and Apocalypse was impossible to beat
Pong and Q-Bert: the 3-D versions (PS1)--classic games should be left as is
WCW Thunder(PS1)--everything about it is awful!
Smurfs (Atari 2600)
Flinstones Bowling (PS1)--Animaniacs TPA was a lot better

Capcom should've brought the Saturn versions of their Vs. games to the states. They were still fun, but The Playstation just wasn't powerful enough to do the games justice. Marvel Vs Capcom 2 on the PS2 should make up for this.

Back to the Future 2: Controlling the Delorean was *HARD* and impossible. If it had been going just a bit slower, I might have made it to the next level.
Final Fantasy 8: Heavy on the love story, which I didn't find appealing. (This is just my opinion!)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (NES): At certain points in the game--considerably crucial ones, like fighting the mini-bosses--the game would slow down and pixels would jump everywhere. And sometimes when you jumped you couldn't control yourself, which made it easier for flying badguys to plow you over.
Star Fox (Super NES): Eh, I just didn't like the graphics. Too many polygons for my taste.
Wheel of Fortune (Game Gear): What could be more thrilling than spinning a digitized version of the big wheel while staring at homely pixelated images of what appear to be humans?

I really hated Snoopy's Sports Spectacular, mainly because it was too dang hard to do half of the mini games. I tried for years and still couldn't do much.
Also, Circus Caper was hard and pretty lame.
X-Men vs. Street Fighter (PS1)--graphics were choppy and Apocalypse was impossible to beat
I really liked this game. Sure it's nothing compared to Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, but I thought it was ok. Also, it took me forever to beat Apocolypse, but after I did it once, I was on a role and did it multiple times with different characters.
Oh well, one person's game is another's trash... I bet someone in here loved Circus Caper... :D

Wow sounds like Nagano Winter Olympics for N64. That game was terrible. I know there is a PS1 version as well but I only played the 64 version. Horrible graphics, almost all unplayable games (the skiing game, press one button and you lose the event), and terrible control for the games that were playable. Looks like Konami shouldn't handle Winter Olympics games (unless there are some good ones out there). By the way, if you all forgot Midway made a Nagano Hockey game which was the exact same thing as the previous Wayne Gretzky games only with different logos. Geez, the laziness of some developers!

Just thought of two more games: Robocop for the NES (or was it Super NES?), and Ren & Stimpy for the Game Gear. The music for both games was great, imo, but the controls were hard for Robocop, and there weren't a lot of badguys in R&S. Just a lot of jumping, walking... look, an enemy! *jump* Well, that took care of him. Hopefully I'll see another one before I reach the end of the level.

Out of all the games I've played in my life(and I'm pretty lucky that I haven't played E.T. and those CD-I Zelda games) the worst ones I've played were...
~~Brandish(SNES)
~~King Arthur and the Knights of Justice(SNES)
~~Basically, any THQ made video game based on a cartoon or TV show franchise--especially that gawd awful Space Ace game for the SNES
~~Any game that was made by Color Dreams/Wisdom Tree(i.e. Baby Boomer, The Exterminator, Bible Adventures, Menace Beach/Sunday Funday)

Any of the Bam! games for Cartoon Network.

Rugrats treasure hunt-N64, just gawd awefull
X-men-something-or-another of Apocalypse- SNES horrible game, Psylocke had a pea head and Cyclops looked like a caveman
and the worst of all
Castillian-NES this game defies crap-tiude, it is so bad THERE IS NO MUSIC just one sound effect that sounds like it was a magic wand effect from some other game, slowed down and backwards (my dreams still are haunted by the noise) the whole game was this little green q-bert ripoff walking up the side of a tower of a castle (think the Mushroom stages from MMX4, but crappier) the character had 2 frames of animation and couldn't jump, there were enemies on the staircase but they would a ttack you and you would die, just like that, there was no way to avoid them, no jumping, no firing anything, and if you were able to make it past their projectiles (by some act from the almighty) the enemy would just stand there on the step you had to be on to continue to reach the top of the tower, then you would walk into it and DIE (there was no energy bar or extra lifes, that was it, you started all over) this game is so bad it hurts me just to talk about it
go find a rom for it and see what I mean

I've got a game that is not only bad, but also horrible taste. It's called "Ethnic Cleansing". Need I say more? Do a web search for it. I have seen it for myself, and it sucks. Not only is it a lousy game, it's horrible in concept.

Justice League Task Force? That was a terrible game, I played the Genesis version. Well it's by Acclaim, I think that says enough (well they have a few good games I guess). Midway has the right to today's Justice Leagues, considering they don't make the best of games, I personally don't like the sound of it.
I didn't think JL:TF was that bad. Even though the character powers were a little off balance.
