Man, this is one heck of a CD....there's so much stuff on here it'll take hours to listen to all of it. It certainly is complete, it makes "The Carl Stalling Project" seem mighty boring by comparison. The book is wonderful, it told me stuff I didn't even know, and pointed out some important details I just never paid attention to. They even include the clips you wouldn't expect them to, like "Tin Pan Alley Cats" and "Clean Pastures". The "Bugs Bunny's Greatest Hits" track is fun to listen to,(Includes "Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips!") except they do leave out one of my favorites, and it's not included on the discs: "Jimmy Crack Corn" from "Lumber Jack rabbit". At least, I haven't heard it yet. "Three Little Bops" is great, you don't need the visuals for this, it tells a story all its own when you hear the music. This CD is proof that both the soundtrack and the animation play a huge part, and either one can exist as a classic all its own. Every one of you should own this one, it's too good to miss. It includes the "Have You Got and Castles" complete soundtrack, that's a good one. Many of the songs appear to be from really good prints, they aren't scratchy or worn, in fact it appears that the score to "Book Revue" was taken from an original print with credits, as the "Looney Tunes" song is heard as opposed to "Merrie Melodies". Anyway, This is awesome. Go get it. NOW.

Happy listening, Matthew!

Sounds great, I'll probably get it soon. I've heard a lot about the music, but not much about the book. Could you, or anyone else who now has this, go into a little more depth about it, anything in it that really catches your eye? You don't have to give away any major surprises, just name some examples of articles or pretty artwork. Are there, by any chance, any model sheets of Hubie and Bertie?

No, no Hubie and Bertie, but Sniffles is included, in a model sheet I hadn't seen before. That's all I'll say about that, because you should like that one. It has losts of publicity art and some interesting photos. There are essentially 3 sections, one that is an overview of the musical genius of the cartoons, another on the history of them, and another explaining the contents and track listings.

I bought a copy of this cd today and it is awesome!!!:D Have not got to hear the whole thing yet, because I'm at work, but what I heard on my lunch break was great. One thing notably missing was music from one of my favorites "Rabbit of Seville." All the more reason for a Volume 2 collection!!!

I haven't been able to read any of the book, but the artwork makes this book a perfect companion to the book, "That's All Folks! The Art of Warner Brothers Animation" by Steve Schneider. Both books share some of the same artwork. No Hubie and Bertie, but one of my favorites is the title card to "Little Beau Pepe" and "Notes on the Featured Cartoons" section looks pretty good.

Buy this cd collection! Highly Recommended!!!

They don't know talent in this here town!
So I'll huff and puff and blow the place down!

Well, today I had purchased my TWO copies (one to play constantly, and the other to be kept in an archival state) of this great "That's All Folks!" CD package at J&R Music World on Park Row in Manhattan during my lunch hour. As soon as I returned to my office, I played both discs from one set on the PC in my assigned workstation cubicle.

This is a real fantastic CD package of any entertainment type I have ever heard in my lifetime, and not just from being as a longtime W-B cartoon fan for this particular category genre. The sound quality and selection cuts are a great joy and delight to listen to, and I was singing or following along to some of the many recognizable musical score or lyrics found on these CD's.

Yes, the original "Looney Tunes" print of "Book Revue" is here intact, plus the complete soundtracks of the three Blue Ribbon "Merrie Melodies" (including "Have You Got Any Castles?") and mid-1950's "Looney Tunes" films selected for this CD set. To call this package more than a "greatest hits" album would be quite an understatement here, and the superb "book" that comes along with it is truly marvelous with great information, photos and images.

In all, the "That's All Folks!" CD set is very, very highly recommended, and it makes a great and important addition to anyone's W-B cartoon collection. No doubt about it, I was musically and amazingly entertained as to what I heard on these discs as a fine, ultimate treasure.

Another idea for volume two would be for the complete soundtrack to "One Froggy Evening." I know CN overplays this cartoon, but wouldn't it be cool to listen to this in your cd player? Ok, so maybe everybody doesn't like the Michigan Rag!

Does the Have You Got Any Castles cut include the original opening & closing with the Alexander Wolcott caricature? Are you able to tell that by the soundtrack?

Well, the cuckoo clock is heard at the beginning, and a bell rings, but Wolcott is not heard. As I recall, the print on TV doesn't have even the cuckoo/bell. I believe there was a legal dispute with Warners, hence Wolcott is removed.

I think that edit was crazy, and ANYWAY, wasn't Wolcott DEAD when they made the re-issue? Does Wolcott appear in the ending. It seems all that's gone is Rip Van Wrinkle finally getting some sleep on the cuckoo clock and has tied the bird's mouth shut.

I got my copy of THAT'S ALL FOLKS! today from Amazon. Like everyone else has said, this is a great collection. An excellent variety of clips that all sound great. I hope there's a Volume 2!

However, I do have two minor complaints...

1 - Apparently we aren't safe from cartoon censorship even on $30 CD collector's sets. The "We're in to Win" clip from "Scrap Happy Daffy" has the "conquer freedom's foe" line trimmed so we don't hear Daffy's impersonation of the three dictators each repeating the "freedom's foe" line. The cut is pretty obvious.

2 - I wish the songs were each on individual tracks instead of part of long medleys. It would have made finding clips you want to listen to again (and again and again :p ) a whole lot easier.

Ok... back to listening to "Have You Got Any Castles?"... again... :D

I noticed that too, but gee...we do get clips of "Tin Pan Alley Cats" and "Clean Pastures", so I won't complain too much. I suppose they felt they were being tasteful, I can't blame them.

Yeah, they used a REALLY large portion of "Clean Pastures" on the disc. Yes it would've been nice to have an idividual track for the songs.

I ordered the set from amazon.com yesterday.

Along with that, I ordered the soundtrack to North By Northwest (another Rhino-WB effort).

I can't wait to play the LT CD's on my surround sound system...I'm thinking of playing Book Revue with the volume pumped up really loud.

Yes, I'd buy a volume two...here's all the stuff that could be on it:

Rabbit of Seville (whole cartoon)
One Froggy Evening (whole cartoon)
Porky's Poppa (clip)
Ali-Baba Bound (clip)
Smile Darn Ya Smile (whole cartoon!)
Lady Play Your Mandolin! (Whole cartoon!)
The Adventures of the Road Runner (clip)
Any Bonds Today? (whole cartoon)
The Daffy Duckeroo
Draftee Daffy
Drip-Along Daffy
5th Column Mouse
Goldilocks and the Jivin' Bears
I Haven't Got A Hat
Naughty Neighbors
Robin Hood Daffy (both songs)
Russian Rhapsody (whole cartoon)
Yankee Doodle Daffy

I'd also like to have all the different orchestrations of the LT and MM themes from 1930 to 1969.

I should have gotten 2 copies like William Padron...but I'm a little short on cash. I'm counting the minutes until I get it in the mail!
