Right! Time once more for the latest two releases from Warner Home Videos UK branch. These two tapes cover Tom&Jerry from Mid 1950 through to mid 1953. I'm sure the question on all your minds first is "Was His Mouse Friday on Volume 6?"
No.
"Was it on Volume 5?"
Yes!
"Was it the version with the muted out dialouge?"
Yes. :(
Ah well, at least I've seen this cartoon for the very first time, though it would be nice if Goopy Geer's FTP was still around so I could see the proper version. This brings the total of two cartoons from the classic era that I have yet to see 'Tops with Pops' and 'Feedin' The Kitty'.
On to the rest now. 'The Hollywood Bowl', the first one on Volume 5 had a scratchy optical soundtrack which is not on the restored Cartoon Network print. It made a brilliant difference, somehow! It made the whole thing sound on a bigger scale.

The next one was the vastly-overplayed-in-UK-and-rarely-seen-in-US 'The Framed Cat'. Not 1990s dubbed, but Mammy...she had a strange, strange voice. Casanova Cat was uncut, thankfully. Nit Witty Kitty, and I'm angry about this, is redubbed.
On to Volume 6. Not much to say here, the only cartoon that's edited on Cartoon Network on this tape is 'Little Runaway'- that's uncut on here. 'Push Button Kitty' WASN'T dubbed, I've always wanted to hear it in it's original form and now I have.

But the real oddity on these tapes came with 'Triplet Trouble' and 'Just Ducky'. Instead of a MGM Lion and Illustrated title card, we saw this!

And instead of the usual 'The End' card, we saw...this!

Can anyone shed some light on it?

Overall I give these tapes 3 out of 5 Bosko's. :bosko: :bosko: :bosko:
When Volumes 7 and 8 come out (Which seems pretty unlikely now) they will be nearly done with the original run. Will they carry on with the Gene Deitch years? Who knows.
