Remeber when I mentioned Amiga is going to try and make a come back? Well they are not alone Atari is too with the Atari ColdFire Project (http://www.myatari.net/issues/aug2002/coldfire.htm). All we need now is a Acorn come back then we'd have all the major platforms back again.

Atari's still around? Hmph...

Speaking of "dead computers", was considering ditching my long-dated, sitting-in-a-closet-for-a-year Mac Performa 636 (and a few other items) to see if I could trade it online for an equally-used ancient Powerbook... figure having a mobile computer for word processing would come in useful (esp. with future plans I had in mind, if / when I do decide to move somewhere else and my current computer not being immediately accessible).

I don't think you'll get much for your Performa.

It does give a bit (emphisis on bit) more competition to the computer industry pushing open standards and such.

I thought that Amiga went out of business after their CD32 video game system didn't sell well.

Commadore went bankrupt but since sales of Amiga continued to grow and Amiga Inc was a company owned by Commadore it got split off. Since then Amiga Inc has been passed around (even Gateway owen it for awhile) now Amiga Inc is completely independent.

Their webpage is here (http://www.amiga.com/)

Well, I'm not looking really to sell it (I know it doesn't have much resale value), but to trade it for said old laptop model. A Mac-stuff-swap mailing list I belong to has various people on it selling/buying/trading for various old Mac stuff, and this summer, I just started selling a few unneeded old programs on it. Though figure given the specific laptop model I was considering, might have to pay for it outright/add cash to the Performa to get one...
