Im not trying to start a flame thread but it seems at least to me that Kids WB might be the only enjoyable thing on Saturday Morning. Just think about FoxBox before this winter I mean seriously fighting food please. UltraMan looks great and seems that it could be awesome if 4 Kids didnt get the rights I just hope that they dont ruing it with badly timed jokes and Hip hop music for the theme of a classic japennese live action show. Kirby seems promising. Ultimate muscle could be cool just have to wait two more weeks. Star gate infinity Didnt see the movie so this will be my introduction to Stargate cant paees Judgement. Now on to Abc Kids Two words Disney Channel. It just seems to me that three shows can easily be seen on Disney Channel. Disneys Filmore god the announcer wont even say its name so how do kids know what is up with the black dude and the white girl they might get them confused with being on recess. Thank you all for listening.

Also, the vast majority of KWB shows returning this year have a built in audience already. Heck, I think every show on their new fall line up, including MUCHA LUCHA, has a solid fanbase, which gaurentees them instant ratings. OZZY & DRIX will be touch and go, concerning whether or not it'll be a hit. If it flops, just toss in another POKEMON and there ya go.

I'm going to respond to this, but I would like one of the Toonzone administrators to merge this thread with my previous "Your Predictions for the 2002-03 Saturday Morning Ratings Wars" post to keep this discussion in one thread.
I'll admit the largest threat to KWB comes not from ABC, CBS, or 4Kids' Fox Box, but rather internally from their own affiliates. I believe the Kids' WB weekday afternoon block is living on borrowed time, especially after the easy time the Fox affiliates had in getting rid of their own weekday afternoon block. Like with the Fox affiliates, the WB affiliates can and probably will start feeling that they should be airing shows like "Judge Judy," "Divorce Court," "Jerry Springer," and similar programming in the afternoon hours to appeal to adults 18-49, the general target audience for any broadcast network affiliate. They'll also tell AOL Time Warner that they have the Cartoon Network to help promote their KWB Saturday lineup, rather than using the individual affiliates to do so on a daily basis. I estimate that by 2005, a Kids' WB weekday block will either not exist or be under heavy pressure from affilates to be removed.
Also, unlike the Big 4 networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox), I believe WB doesn't provide the FCC required 3 hours of children's educational programming at the network level. In Fox's case, that will be done through another block of programs like "Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century" outside 4Kids' Fox Box. If the WB is ever considered to be "the fifth network" in the FCC's eyes, then they'll be required to provide 3 hours of educational shows as well at the network level, and if they lose their weekday block, that could create major programming problems.
ABC's ratings would defintely increase if ABC could get more of their affiliates in the top 25 TV markets to air their shows in the correct order, or at the very least, air them at a decent time. See the most recent messages from Matthew Williams (HulkieD) in the newsgroup alt.fan.power-rangers, which can be accessed through http://groups.google.com for an idea of just how badly some ABC affiliates are butchering the Saturday morning schedule, especially in places like Seattle and Denver.
The sad part of all this is that network affiliates are required by the FCC to act in the public interest. Instead, it looks to me that they're acting rather in profit interest. I know that the general public can complain when an affiliate isn't acting in the people's best interests, and I definitely believe airing 3 hours of local news or informercials on Saturday morning instead of kids shows is definitely not in the best interests of the public.

Kid's WB is doing a-ok. I watch it every Saturday for X-Men: Evolution, but Static Shock, The Zeta Project, and Jackie Chan Adventures have grown on me. I think it's pretty cool.

Very little of what networks or local TV stations ever ran for children's programming could be considered to be "in the public interest". Just programming a bunch of crappy cartoons made by people with more interest in turning a profit than what is actually beneficial for these kids to watch is hardly "in the public interest". Kids shows don't have the market cornered on mindless and careless entertanment: shows for older audiences are just as cynically produced. All of TV isn't "in the public interest", it's what the sponsors want, what sells products to "key demographics".

I used to watch WB only to see the Batman cartoons but then they took them and I never watched WB again.
I personally stick with Teacher's Pet and MST3K for my Saturday morning.

Howard,
I seriously doubt a bunch of infomercials and long, local newscasts that can run from 2 hours to 4 1/2 hours long is going to attract much higher ratings from adults 18-49 than from kids who want to see cartoons on Saturday.
Saturday morning cartoons are an American tradition. It's been that way for 4 decades now. The whole reason why it even exists was because networks found no one other than kids would be willing to get up on Saturday morning to watch anything. I can't believe that some afiiliates now feel people are actually willing to watch 2 or more hours of local news on Saturday morning, To me, maintaining the Saturday morning tradition is in my best interest, and I happen to be a member of the general public.

Kids WB!!!
Like it or not but they rule Saturday Morning. Fox Kids once did when they had Power Rangers (when it was a good show), X-men, Spider-Man, Batman, Animaniacs. Ahhh those were the days. Anyway I doubt that ABC Kids will be picking up some big numbers and it looks like Fox Box's only good show is the new TMNT.

I think the FCC is what killed Saturday Mornings. The networks shouldn't have bought into their nonsence because it generates the exact oppisite of it's stated intent. Causing local affiliates to opt out of cartoons all together so that they can make profits elswhere. depriving kids of the fun & joy we had in our day. So the moral of the story is be cool. Be A renegade!
