This has been the topic of discussion over at the Laughing Place television boards at http://www.laughingplace.com
Apparently, Disney is ending their Vault Disney lineup as of 9/9/02 and replacing it with overnight Zoog Disney shows like Sister, Sister and Lizzie McGuire. The block aired classic Disney animated shorts in the program Ink and Paint Club that was part of the block as well as featuring series such as Walt Disney Presents that included animated segments.
It's not over yet though, for those of you who want Disney to retain their classic programming. Tomorrow's L.A. Times will have an article detailing the Vault Disney removal decision, and it has been recommended at the Laughing Place boards for you to contact your local media outlets such as the newspaper to help bring public attention to this issue.

That is an awful decision. Any part of Vault Disney is better than the "Zoog" garbage. Those bad shows are on during daylight, and now they will dominate the night? That's Disney Channel for you.

I thought the Disney Channel was worse than Nickelodeon, and the plans for programming support that, in my opinion.
Sister, Sister? ::gags:: I despise that show! Tonights Lizzie carried an actual message which surprised me though and it wasn't half bad, except for the blatant advertising of the song XD;
Ahhhh Sister Sister....memories...

You know, The Disney Channel used to air classic Disney animated shorts in the mornings and the afternoons in the 80s in mid-90s. Where where these Laughing Place boardies at when Mouse Tracks and Donald Duck Presents were unceremoniously removed from the lineup?
*sigh* I tell you, it's like the folks at Disney want people to forget that they used to make great animated shorts a long, long time ago. Even Toon Disney rarely shows them, which is abysmal.
And for the love of Mike, would somebody PLEASE tell me what the heck does Zoog mean?

Sooooooo many people have asked me that question.....and I still don't have an answer. Here's what I think it is:
Zoog is an alien/computer virus that has infected the Disney Computer system. Filling up it's host channel (the disney channel) it is now beginning to leak into other Disney affiliates, such as ABC, and Toon Disney. It's only a matter of time, before it attacks ABC Family...the only kids channel left by disney.
But then again, it looks like disney's taking a diffrent approach to ABC family, using their new Fox shows instead of their usual movie spin off crap. I dunno, how long will it be until ESPN will be "Zoog Powered"?

I did not have the Disney channel until the late 90s, and probably would not have even cared back in the mid 90s, so long ago.

I don't really know how to word this, so I'll just say it's really too bad. I haven't had the Disney Channel in years - think Mousercize and all that. Yeah, I was little.

Boy does Disney take me back to a better era. Back when I got up early and caught all the classic stuff that the company made once upon a time, at least before this recent era of, well, crap. (heck, even my dad liked the station, but that was because Disney even showed classic movies of the Hollywood era at night instead of umpteenth reruns of their made for themselves movies)Good thing I got out before that whole Zoog crap started.
BTW: I personally consider the Fox stuff as a firewall from the nightmare over at the other Disney stations for ABC Family. As long as it is differentiated from everything else, we are safe.

As Roger Myers Jr. of Itchy & Scratchy studios once said, "Gentelmen, The screwballs have spoken". Oh, and Discloner, I would also add that the Zoog threat is just about as deadly as Galatea from "Bubblegum Crisis 2040" if you know what I mean. We need to get Kim Possible recruited with Sylia Stingray for A job as A part time Knight Saber for this one. She may be the only one who can restore Di$ney to it's former glory (Note the sarcasm.)

I don't know about any of you, but Disney just plain sucks to me  (with some exceptions), whether it's classical or not. I'm more of a Warner Bros./Paramount/MGM type of person. Disney is just too cheery for me and I prefer the kind of cartoons that a lot of people think are for children or men who act like children because I grew up with Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, Betty Boop, and Popeye cartoons, along with some underrated ones like Woody Woodpecker, Chilly Willy, and Felix the Cat.

I understand what you mean, but once upon a time, Disney knew how to make a quality cartoon. My only complaint is that people say Disney is the best "because they were first". First sound cartoon, yes. First cartoons, I don't think so. (that and the only reason I think Disney "seems" cheery is the PR they have done as they became this huge multinational corporation, making them seem like they have a soul when in reality.....)

I just found that Vault Disney's Disney.com page has been taken down.
The downfall has begun.
BTW, nice way to look at Zoog.

Dear Lord!! It's bad enough I have to deal with Zoog all day (for some odd reason, my baby sister enjoys Zoog shows  ) but now I have to deal with it ALL NIGHT TOO!!!!
And I thought Nickeloadeon was bad!! It's official, after all these years Di$ney has spent killing itself little by little, it finally died :(
RIP :(

I remember when Disney was a good place to go.
The downfall started when they started inserting commercial breaks in their shows.
The channel went on life support when the Zoog crap started.
Now with the removal of Vault Disney... Funeral services will be this week.

I was always wondering what "ZOOG" meant as well. I am left with the idea that it has something to do with "2000", since the first time I ever saw the word was on Disney's eve of the Millennium schedule (this is what they rang in the cardinal new millennium with), and I had assumed that night that it was just their Millennium special. When I kept seeing the word in the schedule for the 2½ years after that, well I don't know what it means; perhaps still just celebrating the new millennium.

And the worst part is that Di$ney's current feature films are also being "Zooged" with pop songs and all that other crap.
For example, in Lilo&Stitch, Lilo's Elvis obsession was one of the cutest parts of the film. But, for some odd reason, in the credits Elvis' classic song 'Can't help falling in love' was re-mixed by some horrible, cookie-cutter pop band!!! Poor Elvis :(
It won't be long before Walt Disney's company is renamed the Zoog comglomorate or something.
