Here's a better description of the show:
Tooru, a girl whose parents are both dead, attempts to achieve a dream of graduating from high school. When the camp that she sets up (her original plans was to live with her grandfather, with the camp being a temporary home until renovations are finished ather grandfather's house) get destroyed, she moves in with the family of the boy that she admires, Yuki. It is then that she discovers the secret of Yuki's family: whenever a family member gets "huggled" by a non-relative of the opposite sex, they turn into creatures of the Zodiac (except for Yuki's cousin Kyo, who turns into a cat).
As for the title, it's comes from a game that Tooru played as a child called Fruits Basket, in which she was usually the role of the rice ball. Thus, Yuki's family can be considered a fruits basket, with the rice balls being Tooru (who is not a member) and possibly Kyo (who, while a family member, seems out of place due to his cat transformation).
Personally, Fruits Basket is a very good anime show with a lot of fun episodes (so far, I've seen the first seven episodes). It would be nice to see CN pick this show up.

It is interesting. The pace is a little on the leisurely side, but there are many interesting visual and character aspects of Fruits Basket.
It's a shoujo series, though, so I don't know if there's much interest from networks for it. Also, the one girl-many guys concept is quite new to U.S. perception of animation casts.
