Cartoon Network's new adult programming block, Adult Swim, is less than two weeks away and now it's official site (http://www.adultswim.com) has some content on it. Although the site doesn't officially launch until August 31, their is a list of Adult Swim "rules" and one of its rules is "always use profanity." As silly as that may sound, it may be a sign of what is to come to Adult Swim. The possibly remains that some of the shows like Cowboy Bebop may contain adult language.
Toon Zone reporter "Gookie" adds that the "Adult Swim" shows that debuted at the San Diego Comic Con in July included both adult language and adult themes.
"The Brak Show" (formerly named "Leave it to Brak") included a song performed by Zorak entitled "I'm Gonna Kick Your *****" (repeating the word ***** throughout the song, much to the delight of the audience - it was like hearing for the first time the way fans always knew Zorak was meant to speak), with Zorak throwing out a few other mild profanities for comic effect throughout the episode.
A new episode of "Space Ghost: Coast-To-Coast" also had several more instances of adult language than has been used on the show in the past.
The "Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law" episode involved a plot of a custody battle between Johnny Quest characters Dr. Benton Quest and Race Bannon over Johnny and Hadji. It included quite a bit of innuendo and themed humor that received uproarious laughter from the audience.
In short, viewers can expect a great deal of irreverent, adult humor, but of a sophisticated nature, and not in the vein of crude or "shock value" humor shows such as "South Park." The shows were received extremely well by the audience and it was one of the most highly-attended panels for the entire Comic-Con.
Look for further reports from the San Diego con and the Adult Swim panel, including photos and other images, in the very near future. And you'll find much more information on Adult Swim (including coverage of the San Diego con) at The Unofficial Adult Swim Website.
