I want everyones knowledge and opinion about laserdisk video player. Is it better than DVD? How much? Where can you find one? Is it worth buying one? I've looked for some on sites like ebay and yahoo and I can't find one.

Here's a bunch of Laserdisc players on ebay: ebay! (http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&pb=&ebaytag1=ebayreg&ht=1&st=2&query=laserdisc+player&SortProperty=MetaEndSort)

Can't tell you about quality, though. I've never owned a laserdisc player. The discs look like record sized DVDs, though.

If you have the money and are despirate for some of the collections that can only be found on Laserdisc, then you should buy one, or you can wait for WB to release it's cartoons on DVD (Disney is going to release some cartoon DVDs too). Then again, who knows how long it will take for WB to release those DVDs, they've announced a release every year for several years. I can only hope they are putting it off because the cartoons are being restored from original elements...

LD players and discs are getting harder to come by, since DVD has done a very good job of making LD totally obsolete. All things being equal, a DVD will look better than an LD, though there are certainly some LDs that outshine their DVD counterparts, especially in terms of extra content (i.e Disney boxed sets).

I would only invest in an LD player at this time if you're looking to buy discs which are not (and will never be) released to DVD, like the Golden Age of Looney Tunes sets from MGM/UA. Sets like those go for quite bit of money now, so make sure you can afford them before buying a player.

TGAOLT -

as I remember the prices on ebay:

vol 1 - 40-80
vol 2 & 3 - 120 - 160 each
vol 4 - 150 - 180
vol 5 - 300+

individual discs range from 20-100 (the P!&D! and B!&E! can't be given away, while 'Curtain Calls' and 'Winner By a Hare' can get up there)
