Okay, how about something a little more impressive than an Inu-Yasha logo?
There's a ton of new images from the upcoming Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex anime series to be found on this site (http://www.production-ig.co.jp/anime/gits3/index.html).
It's in Japanese, but you don't need to be able to read it to look at the pretty pictures. Just take a look around, the first four links all have at least one image in each. Of particular interest is the third link down from the top, which contains a plethora of black-and-white character design sheets.
I've already run the pages through Babelfish and couldn't find any information on the U.S. broadcast (although, to be honest, I wasn't really expecting any). It does, however, claim that the series will begin airing in Japan on October 1st, which I believe is new info.

The Japanese have it on PPV? Sucks for them. I can't wait until this hits ASA, maybe it'll show up October 5, because I see something coming then.

looks good, I know it will be godd, but the truth is that only time will tell
The Tachikoma and cyberbrain idea's are very cool. This series actually has something to do with the manga! GASP!
I love Production I.G. They really are doing a great job animating this stuff. And the journal's of the foreigner's are a great way to read some behind-the-scenes info. Motoko looks great!

if otomo gave it his seal of approval, i'm betting it'll have a bunch to do w/the manga... he wrote an entire source book specifically for other writers who wanted to write stories in his gits/appleseed universe

Are the talking Fuchikoma tanks anywhere to be seen? They were one of my favorite things in the manga and in the videogame.

Think of an anime comic book. Thats honestly an oversimplification, but for our intents and purposes, thats sufficient enough. And its not a stupid question.
In regards to GitSTV... Oh my. This looks amazing. I have no experience with the actual manga however, is the fact that the show is based on it a good sign?

Manga is the Japanese version of a comic book, only MUCH BETTER. Well, much better at least in the sense that you can get a nice thick novel-sized comic, with 4-5 different stroy arch's per book, for uber-cheap, each week...in Japan anyway. They get expensive in America...anyway....
This series is...miraculous. And the Manga is uber-schway. The series has it's own story(I guess? Correct me if I'm wrong), but the character designs and everything are based on the comic. Very good stuff. And if you ask me, a terribly GOOD sign... :D

This show is definately turning out to be promising. But one thing still bugs me. They have been saying that this TV series takes place after the movie. And as you all know, at the end of the movie, Kusanagi and the Puppet Master join together in a new robot body in order to "reproduce" a child. So how do you explain Kusanagi in this series?

Just replying to a bunch of things here all at once, don't mind me...

Heh, turns out that's actually her 'default' outfit for the series. You can tell that she's wearing it in many of the images from the show and also on the character design sheet at the site I linked to. She will, apparently, have a different outfit(s?) for missions.

Unfortunately, no. Due to some kind of legal reasons, they were unable to use the Fuchikomas. They have, however, been replaced by Tachikomas (also created by Shirow), which you can see in several images and design sheets on the official english page, linked to earlier in the thread by FredNash.

Who is "they?"
Ghostwriter, aka Sakurai Yoshiki, aka one of the screenwriters for the series, sez: "This series is not a sequel, nor a remake. It is a completely new series based on several new plots by Shirow Masamune."
A couple of other random thoughts about the series:
When asked if the animation in GitS TV was better than in Bebop, someone who saw the episodes at the premiere in Japan said, "at the very least."
Also, something I realized while sitting in class last night...unless somebody's been needlessly cropping the images we've been given, there's one more thing we can derive from them about the series -- it's going to be widescreen. YES.

I was just over there checking them out, and I noticed that and was about to ask. RIGHT ON! Thank God...that's great. So it'll be 100% only Widescreen format? no cropping! :D

Otomo? He worked on Akira and Domu. You mean Masamune Shirow. Although I don't know how you got those mixed up, no offense.

Sweet. :D
Here's hoping the series is as good as its animation. Even if the story ends up sucking, I'll probably watch just to look at the pretty pictures.

That art looks at least as good as any anime movie I've seen!

That is all I needed to know. Partially because when I first heard of this series from you guys, it sounded like it was a sequel to the movie. But it sounds now that while it may have characters from both the manga and the movie, it is a completely different entity altogether.
