Which unfortunately knocks Mission Hill out, but if people haven't seen that show by now, too bad.
Obviously, the first 8 episodes of Ripping will air. And then the 8 will probably rerun ONCE, and then the new season would begin at the start of 2003. Or something approximating that.

It got halfway through, got knocked off by a Home Movies rerun, then it restarted again and got knocked off again. It got one full run and two half-runs of the first half of the series. We'll see MH again, don't worry, but probably not for a while.

There's a villain from one of the (or "the") banned episodes, named Citruset (voiced by John KL.), who sounds suspiciously like Ren ;)
Nice to see you're still around, Matt.

I am made to wonder will the new season have different content since the first episodes aired on Fox kids, so will more Adult content be in the 2nd season? Or was it due to its content that it was cancelled by Fox?

No, the certain acquisition was [removed].Anyways, why do they want to put ripping friends on Adult Swim????It was made for kids and showed on Fox Kids for a reason.
The secret acquisition still has not been announced. Please be patient and wait for the announcement before discussing it on the boards. Thanks.

Because CN is putting the show back into production, and shifting the target demographic along with it. I guess Spumco went along with it.

Come Spring, I wonder if Spumco is going to make either new Ren and Stimpy on TNN so horrible that people watch new Ripping Friends, or new Ripping Friends so bad that TNN doesn't have to worry about competing with a half-hour of AS. I guess what I'm trying to say is,where are John K.'s priorities going to lie?

Probably on both. Spumco isn't exactly flooded with work, so they need to ensure the success of both programs. They're very fortunate to have both Ripping Friends and R&S get new chances, and they won't want to throw those chances away.

hated ripping friends when it was on sat. morning. Ren and Stimpy was clasically bazaar but ripping friends was just slight gags and bodily functions.

Is it possible that if the original episodes are poorly received, the series will be retooled to the extent that the shows will be mutually unrecognizable, or simply canceled...i never saw it originally so i can't say whether i will like it

That's _13_ episodes. 11 aired on Fox Kids, two were banned ("Infernal Wedding" for its Pentagon references and nuclear destruction of the planet & "Jimmy's Kidnapping" for its over the top sadistic torturing of Jimmy) but those 2 did indeed run up in Canada.

John K & Spumco were allowed to do anything they wanted within reason. Censorship for the show was far, far less than even Nick. They had no problems with the censors for the show, though there was one instance or so where compromises were dealt with concerning questionable situations (or so I hear). But for the most part, it was the show Spumco wanted it to be. Fox only took it off the air once it ran all of the episodes it had that they could show. Without the weekday Fox Kids, space was limited, so rather than keep 11 reruns on the air taking up space on their one day of the week, they took it off. Ratings reports were very good for RP, considering the heavy decline FK was going through at the time.
And in regard to the people on this thread calling the show such brilliantly conceived names as "crap" and "poopie", I tell those who've never seen it to judge for themselves. It's an acquired taste, not really like ANY show on Adult Swim currently, or nearly much of CN, in fact. Hopefully people can watch it and enjoy it for what it is, a silly cartoon meant to be laughed at.

I'm not even a hardcore Mission Hill fan, but I'm betting Mission Hill would be better than Ripping Friends. Jon K. got lucky with Ren and Stimpy, I've yet to see anything else that was funny he made.

I'm really looking forward to the return of RF. I got the DVD, and it's some of the funniest bizarre sh... stuff I've seen. They really know how to make some subtle (and over-the-top) social commentary. I'll be glad to see the unaired episodes. :D
