Hey all! I was watching my copy of "Out of the Past" again, and this line has ALWAYS stuck with me. Terry mentions that the last time Bruce was with Talia was when she helped him defeat her father in the "Near Apocalypse of 09", also the last time that Ghul was ever seen, and presumed dead. Indeed,

Ghul while inhabiting Talia's body, reveals that his last en****er with Batman left him near death, hence his calling on Talia to make the ultimate sacrifice so that he may cheat death once again.

So, this seems like it is easily one of the greatest Batman stories never told, and a fitting end to the Ra's al Ghul saga (at least as far as TNBSA are concerned). Am I the only one who would love to see this story told in a direct to video Batman Beyond prequel? There are soooooooooo many possibilities for coolness here!

I'm not sure on the timeline, but it seems like this could be a good opportunity to showcase Bruce using that kickass Batman Beyond costume some more, something we only briefly glimpsed in Rebirth.

This could also involve Superman, who had some involvement with Ghul in The Demon Reborn. Not saying it'd have to, but this was called a Near Apocalypse for a reason, and it'd provide a good opportunity to see the World's Finest together. Heck, Superman could even look a little like his Kingdom Come counterpart, at least to the extent of having the red and black "s".

Ghul wreaking havok on the Earth? Whole cities destroyed possibly? Maybe the contagion virus? What was this "Near Apocalypse" exactly, besides being on an epic level? Clearly it was PRETTY bad. This was Ghul finally making his genocidal plans a reality, leading to his final, brutal conflict with the Dark Knight.

*drools*

Man, I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO wanna see this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That would make a very interesting direct to video movie. Who knows, if the direct to video movies they have in the works do good maybe we can get one a year. Imagine that.

Shoot, why jsut stop with Superman? The JLA could be in it. There would be some deaths of some pretty prominated characters, which would maybe explain why Supes switched to an all black costume, as he would be in mourning for fallen heroes. Man, just thinking about this makes me want to go and write something like this right now...

There was a lot of unwritten things for Batman Beyond Paul never had time to do

Like what about Zatanna and Nightwing what became of them

Hell, if you want to involve the Justice League in this story, what about adding story elements from the recent Tower of Babel story arc (JLA #43-46.

In this story (for those who haven't read it), Ras Al Ghul gets hold of Batman's secret protocols and uses them to decimate the Justice League. That could certainly be part of whatever Ghul's scheme is.

Oh, and I pray that they can get Helen Slater, the woman who did Talia's voice on the old Batman: TAS. That person they got for that Superman episode was awful.

To tell you the truth I never really noticed a lot of difference in the voice change it wasn't as big of a change as Superman in Batman Beyond. Speaking of BB did the same woman that did Talia in The Superman ep also do it in the BB " Out Of The Past" ep. Sometimes I dont pay real close attention to the voice credits.

Olivia Hussey did Talia in both "The Demon Reborn" and "Out of the Past." Hussey, by the way, played Juliet in the 1968 film version of "Romeo & Juliet."

This thread got me writing. I wrote the first page of a story dealing with Ra's and Batman's last big fight. So far, I'm liking it. When I get a couple more pages written, I'll try to post it on the Fanfic board so you all can tell me what you think...

Heck, the entire animated universe could be involved. Kinda close to a cross-company event in the animated universe. I can't see Batman in his BB costume in 2009, but ah well.
