Hey all! I was watching my copy of "Out of the Past" again, and this line has ALWAYS stuck with me. Terry mentions that the last time Bruce was with Talia was when she helped him defeat her father in the "Near Apocalypse of 09", also the last time that Ghul was ever seen, and presumed dead. Indeed,
Ghul while inhabiting Talia's body, reveals that his last en****er with Batman left him near death, hence his calling on Talia to make the ultimate sacrifice so that he may cheat death once again.
So, this seems like it is easily one of the greatest Batman stories never told, and a fitting end to the Ra's al Ghul saga (at least as far as TNBSA are concerned). Am I the only one who would love to see this story told in a direct to video Batman Beyond prequel? There are soooooooooo many possibilities for coolness here!
I'm not sure on the timeline, but it seems like this could be a good opportunity to showcase Bruce using that kickass Batman Beyond costume some more, something we only briefly glimpsed in Rebirth.
This could also involve Superman, who had some involvement with Ghul in The Demon Reborn. Not saying it'd have to, but this was called a Near Apocalypse for a reason, and it'd provide a good opportunity to see the World's Finest together. Heck, Superman could even look a little like his Kingdom Come counterpart, at least to the extent of having the red and black "s".
Ghul wreaking havok on the Earth? Whole cities destroyed possibly? Maybe the contagion virus? What was this "Near Apocalypse" exactly, besides being on an epic level? Clearly it was PRETTY bad. This was Ghul finally making his genocidal plans a reality, leading to his final, brutal conflict with the Dark Knight.
*drools*
Man, I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO wanna see this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
