<a href="http://www.variety.com">Variety</a> reports that Brett Ratner's Rat Entertainment will produce the upcoming live-action/CGI comedy "Hong Kong Phooey" with Alcon Entertainment.
Based on the popular 1970's Hanna-Barbera cartoon about a klutzy, kung-fu using dog, the film will focus on the origin of Phooey's supernatural talents and a villain intent on stealing those powers.
The screenplay is being written by Robert Ritger. Alcon will release the film through its distribution agreement with Warner Bros. Pictures. Warner Bros. recently had a hit with another 1970's product - "Scooby-Doo"!
