Well, this weekend was decidinly dissapointing for alot of reasons. Below are estimates, with final data issued Monday.

1. American Pie 2 - $21.4 million ($87.6 mill)
2. Rush Hour 2 - $19.2 million ($164.8 mill)
3. Rat Race - $11.8 million ($11.8 mill)
4. The Others - $10.8 million ($32 mill)
5. The Princess Diaries - $9.5 million ($70.1 mill)
6. Captain Corelli's Mandolin - $7.1 million ($7.1 mill)
7. Planet of the Apes - $6.87 million ($161 mill)
8. American Outlaws - $4.81 million ($4.81 mill)
9. Jurassic Park 3 - $4.3 mill ($168.2 mill)
10. Legally Blonde - $2.57 mill ($83. 3 mill)

Wow, this is the 2nd crappy weekend for WB as their modestly budgeted AMERICAN OUTLAWS totally tanked worse than Osmosis Jones. Not only that, but Mandolin also tanked. Still the sequels still seem to be doing good business. It looks like it's downhill from here for summer movies...

Well, there is one last high point with Jay and Silent Bob...

JASBSB is definatly the highlight of August. While it likely won't open to a $30 mill box office, it will still open very nicely and do just fine, I think. I think that's the only August film I'm looking forward to.

Yeah, I'd say JASBSB will open to $25-20 million in the box office. But I have been wrong before.

Jay and Silent Bob I'm looking forward to, but I'm also looking forward to Jeepers Creepers. Of course I'm a big horror fan so that should be good. That one opens August 31. I didn't see any movies this weekend if that tells you something, and I've been at the theaters almost every weekend this summer. I might still go see The Others, but that one looks like it will be a DVD rental for me. Same goes for Osmosis Jones. Ah, what has happened to the state of animates movies lately, except Shrek.

At the begining of summer, I estimated that both JP 3 and POTA would have grossed $200 million. That doesn't look the case now. Rush Hour 2 is on it's way to doing it and I think it will. Pretty sad that The Mummy Returns and Shrek have been the only ones so far.

Jeepers Creepers comes out on August 31st! WOO! I totally forgot about that film. I thought it was an October release! I am and psyched about that movie. We've had an actual scary movie this summer (THE OTHERS) asnd it'd be nice to have another genuinly scary flick as well.

I figured JP3 will end with a nice $180 and I was hoping for $200 for POTA, but I bet it'll settle for about $185 mill.

For a summer that began with such promise, to me it has ended up to be one of the most disappointing.

And as for the box office numbers? Well, I can see now why next year all they are talking about are more sequels. Shame too.

Anybody see Rat Race? How does it compare to It's A Mad Mad Mad World?

Next year will be an interesting year, especially with 3 major comic movies coming. Blade in March, Spider-Man in May and X-Men2 in November, plus some other ones I hear may be coming (Please Hellboy). Still this summer was better than last...

Yeah, Wasn't last summer just a bunch half-assed horror movies?
Or am I thinking the year before, the next big movie I'm looking forward to is JASBSB. After that it's Jeepers Creepers, I hope these movies turn out any good.

Summer does kick off with a bang next year with Spider-Man, and Star Wars, but lets not forget Men In Black 2 which also comes out next summer, July most likely. That one is currently filming now.

If Deila97's predictions about MIB2 are correct, I'm afraid of the movie....but I will still give it a chance. Hoo boy. A summer of sequels. I'm afraid to admit that the movie industry has fallen on a low time of ideas with all of these sequels...
....though as Jowy said, it beats another Blair Witch thing. Bleh....(shudders)

What are the rumors on MIB2?

Not all are rumors; my apologies; but just a coupla rumors and lots of bits of info. Check out Deila97's site, since there is lots of info there. That, and I do not feel like typing it all up-sorry...:( Plus, I would figure I'd be nice and let you go visit her site as a plug!

Delia97 has a great MIB site. I think it's th ebest one out there since everyone other one seems to be outdated. And it's the only one with MIB: TAS stuff on there!
