I missed it on the second marathon, and I missed Mushroom Samba too, the one I've wanted to see forever. What makes Pierrot Le Fou so scary?

I don't think its scary, but the guy is crazy. (but he really couldn't help that). There is a lot of action in it though.

What makes Pierrot Le Fou so scary?

The experiments, and that laugh make this episode very unsettling.

One of my personal Favorites :)
never saw it when it first aired since I didn't have Cartoon Network then , at least when I got it the series began its second run.

Tongpu's 'origin'. Arguably the scariest thing I've ever seen in an anime... :(

Yes. It's one scary-ass episode. With a Batman tribute too! Don't worry. Williams Street cleans up the mess a little for you, but yea. Mad Pierrot's an insane S.O.B.

Leave all the lights on while watching it ;)

I was kinda unsettled by it the first time I watched it too (it was the laugh in the preview, I tell ya!) but the episode is really cool. The animation alone is amazing. Great B:TAS tribute as well :)

The ending just might be the most disturbing thing I've ever seen.

Don't forget the teeth grinding.

Ooh! And I like the 3D CG cityscape too.

This episode is like a cross between Serial Experiments Lain and Batman: The Animated Series. Notice how different the animation style is.

And the ending is truly disturbing.

And I think when I get the session 5 DVD that is going to be the least watched episode that I'll be watching on.

Man when i saw this the first time... AMAZING!!!
My absolute favorite bebop episode actually.
The only one that could possibly be better to me is the one they dropped from the first run cause it was apparently to much after 9/11. What was it called? with the little demon child. (when will that air again anyway?)

Oh yeah, what exactly is this tribute to Batman that's been mentioned? Never heard of that....

The "final battle" in the theme park at the end? Very B:TAS-ish. The battles between Batsy and any number of villians have been fought in amusement parks for a loong long time. This episode of CB even has the classic "on the roller coaster" fight. Of course the animation is a billion times better than B:TAS(my opinion, anyway), it still has that classic B:TAS flare to it.

I loved the Fay-Spike scene. Faye always tries to stop Spike from fighting the fights he "wont come back from". This time...

Spike-"I don't think I'm coming back from this one..."
Faye and Ed look at him, terrified...
Spike-"Heh...just kidding..of course I'll be back.."

:D :D :D

The episode you're talking about that didn't air in the first run of Bebop was "Sympathy For The Devil" (Session 6)

Well, the animation in some scenes is a tribute to Batman The Animated Series. Plus, The Mad Pierrot looks like a cross between The Penguin and The Joker :)

Fun fact:

Be sure to watch for the glint in Spike's eye in the last few moments of the showdown.

I thought Toys In the Attic was scarier... also did anyone else notice the music that plays in the flashback scene where Jet finds out about Pierrot's origin sounds an awful lot like one of the end of "On the Run" from Dark Side of the Moon? The only thing it's missing is the crazy laugh at the end right before the alarm clocks go off at the beginning of "Time"... am I crazy or has anyone else who's got dsom noticed that too?

but.. does anyone know what song they play at the theme park is called?
it gets stuck in my head.. even though its a pain to listen to.. hehe

The song is called "Yuuenchi (Amusement Park)" and it appears on Disc 3 or the wonderful CD BOX set that you need to buy. Right now.

Actually it is coming out domestically pretty soon, but BBT (http://www.big-big-truck.com/bebop/) says that it'll cost more here than it would to import the thing.

Funny you should mention that - the name of the song that appears during the Mad Pierrot flashback scene is also called...

On The Run

It's freaky alright but I don't agree on it being scary at all. When I watched it on the second marathon a light was on in the living room. But If you really want to get a scare turn off all the lights, go in the living room or wherever your going to watch it and try to make the room pitch black, turn on the TV keep the volume loud and watch the 24 minute episode. Dont like it that way if you have a bebop DVD that has the episode you can watch it on that. Love that surround sound.

Your standing in the coldest part of fear but before you heart chills from fear it may not be the only thing tat splits in half will your heart break by itself or will your minds breaks with it into 2 pieces
