... has been updated too. Looks like summer is a good time for big site updates !

http://riddler.batbad.com/

I've worked a month and a half on updating my site with Flash, using designs and sounds from both B:TAS and TNBA, so the site now has animations and sounds. I think it's especially successful in the "Dark Knight" Riddle Hints.

The biggest change, however, is the "Nygmatech Multimedia Resource", giving access to desktops (made by me), some of them animated, sound quotes from the series (not much yet because I'm waiting for more DVD sources), startup musics (no full music tracks not to steal from S. Walker's work) and a "various" section, in which I hope I would add screen savers one day or the other.

I'll try to finish updating the Chess Riddles soon, but meanwhile, comments are welcome to see if people like what's already been done, or what you would like to see on the site (specific desktops, remarks)...

Enjoy !

Hehe. Give it time, Edward, give it time! I haven't had a chance to go over the whole site yet, but what I saw of I liked a lot. Very cool background, unique layout, and some great animations. Color me impressed!

Awesome animations! Great job on the eye candy!! I actually meant to reply to this thread the first day you put it up, but I got busy with some other things. Btw, your avatar is one of the coolest I've ever seen!

The bio/interview on the Riddler is exquisite. Did you write that all yourself (excempting the source material obviously)? The Flash is great. Do you have a solution for the Robin puzzle?

Hey !

Your warm reactions put a smile to my heart ! I really spent a lot of work on this, so forgive my second post...

BeyondGotham, thanks for the link ! With the background, I wanted to convey all the excentricity of the Riddler and make visitors feel as puzzled as possible !

Calico, in a week I should finish updating the Flash interactivity with the Chess problems (especially the Dark Soldier one which is not featuring Flash yet - I'm working on it). The interaction comes on those problems when you use the Hint.

The Flash, you should like the projects I have for E. Nygma animated desktops, they'll be very much in the style of my avatar, a bit like the bottom of page 2 of my Riddler bio... stay tuned !

Cyber E., it's too bad you can't play Flash... I managed to replace parts with Flash because I noticed they were a lot quicker to load that regular GIF/Javascript animation/interactivity. I hope you'll like it when you see the full version (too bad you can't access the Nygmatech Multimedia Resource).

murmur, I'll soon answer you mail... the bio is half my work, half Neil Gaiman's. Gaiman wrote a Riddler Story for the "Secret Origins" issue featuring Two-Face, Penguin and the Riddler. His story was good, but his idea was that the Riddler was an "has-been" villain, now with a regular job. So, I changed some parts to adapt the story to Animated Series continuity, and also added things that to me are related to Nygma (virtual reality, his way to see life as just a game, etc.)

You can check if you've found the right solution of "The Logic Maze" by clicking on the room number, but for a demonstration you have to, well find it :p !

On another note, I just watched again the first Batman film, and with all its flaws (Batman kills, Joker dies, Keaton too short and not muscular at all, shallow romance with Vicki Vale), I have to admit it's so perfect visually it's indeed maybe the best one. I'll re-watch 'Returns anyway to be sure.

... what I wanted to say with this is, I found it so beautiful I started making animated desktops from the DVD I rented. Is this one OK :

Burton's Bat-Signal Desktop (http://riddler.batbad.com/temp/burton_signal/burton_signal.html)

... or is it too "empty" (but that would leave space for icons) ?

Thats an awesome Background! How in the world do you make moving Desktops??

Easy ! You just have to be... a genius !

Seriously, Windows allows the use of HTML desktops : this way, you can use HTML pages saved on your hard drive as backgrounds. This has two advantages :

1) If you make your background properly, you can make it so that it adjusts any screen size. That way, you make just one desktop and it works for any monitor, and fits even if you change your screen resolution, without any loss of detail. This example is just aligned on the bottom right (I assume the icons would go on the left here).

2) You can make anything HTML allows you to do : GIF animations, javascript animations, java applet (for faster computers), random elements so that the dektops is a bit different at each startup, etc.

I've already done five of those, you can reach them by plugging into the Nygmatech Multimedia Resource.

Here are the previews (easier to access if you have a slow connection - all five come from the Animated Series, I'll make movie ones shortly, great material) :

- Arkham Asylum (http://riddler.batbad.com/lair/resource_contenu/desktop_arkham_red/)

- Two-Face (from sketch by Timm) (http://riddler.batbad.com/lair/resource_contenu/desktop_bw_two_face/)

- Freeze (this one's got an applet) (http://riddler.batbad.com/lair/resource_contenu/desktop_freeze_snow/)

- Catwoman (from sketch by same author) (http://riddler.batbad.com/lair/resource_contenu/desktop_catwoman_moon/)

- Gotham Lights (I love that one - random animation) (http://riddler.batbad.com/lair/resource_contenu/desktop_gotham_lights/)

After having seen "Batman", I'm planning on improving the one I showed you (bigger bat-signal to fill the empty space), and doing : Axis Chemicals, Jack seeing his new face for the first time, Grissom's office (beautiful), some Church ones, and an animated one with the Joker aimed by the Batwing. I'm not 100% sure on those, I have to see if they works visually as desktops.
