Hello everyone. On September 12th last year, I started an eleven-part series of Batman-related pictures based on the events of the day prior. I thought I'd start posting them up here as a bit of a tribute to what we had all experienced that day, whether we were there at Ground Zero or not. I've already posted a thread to make sure that others here at the Drawing Board were cool with this idea, but I just wanted to let everyone know that my intentions are good, and any similarity to the events of that day (or any that followed) were intentional.

The title of this series is "Gotham Under Fire" - a "what if" scenario on what would ensue if a similar event were to take place in Gotham City. Cheesy to some, maybe, but it was my way with dealing with the emotion and frustration I felt.

Gotham Under Fire series, #3:
"Leaving on a Jet-Plane"

The title may appear a little insensitive, but I remember around noon on Sept. 11th, the local Top 40 radio station played it in memorial of all the innocent victims earlier that morning. This is probably the most haunting visual images I saw that day, so I decided that I had to force myself to try and re-enact it in my series. Here's hoping no one here takes this as disrespectful.

I remember, after the initial shock wore off, one of my first thoughts was that I wished superheroes really did exist.

Awesome. And yes, I really wished we'd had superhero's, or at
least ones that just happened to show up for that day! But darn, that's what we get for living in the real world....then again, at least we don't have any city as bad as Gotham. Anyhoo, I really like this one probably the most of the three total. Seeing Superman going after the plane, not to mention the title of the peice, seems incredibly fitting. And the title seems fine to me, of course now I have that song in my head, darn you Tim! I enjoy the detail of colors behind Superman, great job!

Geez, you are quick getting all these pictures up. This one is alot more colorful then the last 2. I think I like this on the best so far. I like how you have done the smoke, plane, the sky, and just about everything else. Can't wait til part 4!

Oops. I'm a little late. I don't know how this has been up for a day without me noticing it. Anyway, I dig this one alot. Just seeing it made me get a mental picture of Superman beating on some terrorists. And he's not pulling punches. :D Anyhow, good job, Tim! I won't be so late to compliment part 4! (I hope :D )

A LITTLE late BYO? Look at me, I'm very late - but having seen a gallery of the whole lot, I realised I missed this one!

The plane looks great, and again is a poignant frozen image. The towers in the background as omnious as in the first picture, the heroic primary colours of Superman patriotically cut though the work.

Question is, is this a third plane we have - since the damage to the towers in the picture is pretty extensive or has Supes no chance in stopping this calamity?
