Check out Chud and Coming Attractions for some very interesting news about the next Superman movie. If it is true, then I'm very happy, at least for now. Here's the quote from CHUD:

Almost as quickly as it blind-sided us with its sudden flurry of development, the Batman vs. Superman project was seemingly dropped like a live grenade. Earlier this week, the attached director Wolfgang Petersen (The Perfect Storm) was distracted by the shiny metal object called Troy, a buzzworthy Trojan War adventure movie, leaving the Dark Knight and the Last Kryptonian pairing to again flounder in development.

But Coming Attractions has another hypothesis: that the Superman solo project Warner Bros. was simultaneously developing has turned out to be infinitely better.

CA says that scribe J.J. Abrams (creator of ABC's fantastic Alias series and card-carrying geek) turned in a colossal 200-page draft that's mind-bogglingly good, to the point that the studio wants to forge ahead as soon as an appropriate actor can don the blue tights.

The kink in this plan is that attached director McG is busy with Charlie's Angels 2, and may not find time in his schedule to make the man fly. To that end, the studio is already scoping out alternatives that include the likes of Steven Soderberg, David Fincher, and a man who made us believe dragons can fly, Reign of Fire helmer Rob Bowman.

Very interesting.
