The reason we don't allow attachments is a technical one. The way this board works right now, all attachments are stored in the forum database. The database is really, really big right now, and it takes a long time to make backups because of its size. Having lots of attachments would only make it worse.

However, I hear that the next version of this forum software will allow attachments and avatars to be stored in a regular directory instead of in the database. If that's true, I'll probably allow anyone to post attachments.

That's great to hear that attachments will be allowed in the future.
