I'm giddy!
I seriously could not believe my eyes when I read that. I really can't wait! Templeton's art is always so spiffy and fresh. And a story by Mr Slott will be great to read...is this perchance the Ventriloquist/Scarface issue I read was shelved?
Two issues I'm looking forward to now - this one, and #55 (only because of the art though).

I was psyched when I heard this and had to get it up on the newspage (http://news.toonzone.net) as fast as possible! I'm definatly eager to see how this works out, and I'd like to know who this other artist is.
And the Creeper! Finally!

Even if Ty is only returning as an artist, that is insanely cool. I wonder if he'd ever like to work full time at DC again if they offered him the chance. :)
About time we're getting a Creeper issue, too. I've been bugging the guys at DC to get another appearance of the yellow-skinned wacky-man in their books for a while now; nice to see it finally happening.

Hey there!
To answer some of your questions...
1. Yes, this IS that Ventriloquist/Scarface issue. When it comes out... Find it! Buy it! Read it! Love it!
2. The other artist is James Fry. Fry is AWESOME! He's most well know for his long runs on Moon Knight, Star Trek, and the Liberty Project. But you may have also seen his work (most recently) on Birds of Prey. Cartoon fans might recognize his name from the pages of Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog books. But my favorite thing he's ever done is a 40 plus page epic of THE BLAZING SKULL (it appeared in Marvel's MIDNIGHT SONS UNLIMITED #9, sporting a gorgeous painted cover by Alex Ross, and a zippy little script by yours-truly :)... Find it! Buy it! Read it! Savor it!
3. Ty the Guy didn't really "go" anywhere. He's just been locked away working on his magnum opus for Vertigo. It's a HUGE graphic novel written by Ty, penciled by Ty, inked by Ty, grey-toned by Ty, lettered by Ty... and I wouldn't be surprised if Ty didn't personally pulp all the trees to make the paper! Phew! This modern-day masterpiece is called BIGG TIME and it will be in the stores any day now! Find it! Buy it! Read it! Soak in it! (It's DARN funny! Your life will be all the better for having done so!)
And there you have it!
BTW, My favorite Batman scene I've ever written is coming up in Justice League Adventures #13 (coming out the first week of Nov.) And Superman is going to come face to face (so-to-speak) with a mystery Adventures character-- a special guest cameo-- in Justice League Adventures #11 (coming out the first week of Sep.)-- and I just KNOW everyone on this board will be buzzing about it... It's pretty neat! Anyway... TTYL!

I pick up the issues sporadically, like I only have four or five, lol, but you can bet I'm going to start picking them up on a regular basis! I so can't wait for this issue, it's going to be great, and it's wonderful to have Templeton back.

The Ventriloquist, Scarface, and the Creeper in the same issue? What an interesting combination... :) I can't wait for this one!
Thanks for the update, Dan!

Excellent news. It's always undescribably awesome when the well known names we love (and rightly so) are behind are heroes. And thanks so much for all that info Mr. Slott. I found a comic store near me too just recently (finally!) so I can get in on that. I can't say I've ever pupled my own paper though. I'd like to ask Mr. Templeton about that. lol

BECOME OUR GOD!!!
Ah...whoa dude, calm down. I'm glad to see Ty return as much as the next guy (heh - Ty the Guy) but aren't you over-reaction a bit too much?
And I knew James's name sounded familair! Now I have some idea of what to expect, and I'm rathar excited. I doubt we'll see it until December or Jnauary at the earliest, but I should be able to.
I've been reading up on Ty's project and it sounds...amazing. He really poured himself into it. I've seen some preview art and the cover art, and it looks like Ty's best stuff.

:D LOL, you may right, Jim. I guess you'll just have to forgive my enthusiam! I just adore his artwork and would give (and pay) next to anything to get him back on Gotham Adventures! I'm totally flabbergasted to learn he's doing the art on Dan Slott's issue! I'm just so HAPPY!!!!

Ty Templeton's latest and greatest masterpiece is OUT ON THE STANDS TODAY, AUG. 21st! GO! BUY! NOW! I just finished reading it and it is a hoot and a half-- scratch that-- it's a full two hoots! HOOT HOOT! This is the funniest darn thing I've read since-- well since I don't know when! If you can make it to the line "The monkeys are all dead, the snakes are asleep, and I'm done." without laughing-- well then there's something horribly wrong with you-- medically-- and you should seek help immediately! What am I saying? I'm telling you this is 128 pgs of solid goodness! READ! NOW! THEN READ AGAIN! For the longest time, people have said, "Where's Ty?" Well-- this will answer your burning question-- he was writing, penciling, lettering, inking, coloring, and seperating this MIGHTY MIGHTY MIGHTY OPUS! This will be the most value you ever get out of $14.95... or $24.95 Canadian. I KID YOU NOT! Stop reading this already and RIDE LIKE THE WIND to your locale comic bookery! RIDE! NOW!
TTYL!
Dan
