I guess I might consider Fraiser, one of my favorite shows, a new term I learned recently called "ensamble piece" because as much as I love all the characters, sometimes I find myself loving their interactions more.
Like, I love Martin, and I love Fraiser, but a scene where their conflicting (yet loving for each other) personalities have dialogue together.
And last but certainly not least, Niles and Daphney's former sexual tension. God I love this damn show. I mean that has to be the funniest live action show I watch today, and this small part of it is a large example of that.
But anyway, since I had to pick only one, I picked Martin because his traditional, tough yet loving guy personality always seems to differ from the lighter younger generations he lives with.

Niles, although the show has taken a nose dive seen the Niles/Daphne romance began. It destroyed the whole dynamic of the characters. I can see Niles liking Daphne, but not the other way round. That was the beauty of the situation. She was a fantasy of his, and she was oblivious to it.
I don't like to sound shallow, but that simple change in the cast chemistry made the show rather awkward to watch as if nothing felt, well, honest.
I stopped watching it. I loved Niles in the ones previous to this mess! He was, and suppose is, the best. The rest of the crew hold up well, I think Daphne is the only slightly weak link..!

I like all the actors on the show, even most of the supporting and lesser roles...but Niles is definately the coolest.
I'm surprised that not one person has voted for Frasier yet, though.

Roz gets my vote, she interacts really well with the cast. Niles and Martin are really great too. Kelsey is a such great actor, he protrays such a pompas jerk its hard to not to be annoyed by him.

Niles, easily. He's such a great character and is played so well. Of course...I was really tempted to for for Eddie, he's just about the coolest animal actor in tv.

Well I guess I'll be the first to cast a vote for Frasier. Niles is a lot of fun and I almost voted for him, but I enjoy Niles the most when he and Frasier are talking about something which makes the brothers more equal. I like all the characters and if any of them were to leave the show wouldn't be the same, but Frasier Crane has been gold since Cheers and if you ask me and that remains true today.

I just can't bring myself to vote. They're all great in their own way. Niles' straight-up dead-pan delivery is hysterical, Roz's acserbic remarks are great, Martin is always fun, and Frasier is, well, Frasier - he's the glue that holds them all together. I admit I haven't watched in a long time, but when I did the show always made me laugh outloud.

Followed closely by Carter's dog on Spin City. So, it doesn't move much, but that's the beauty of it.... I can't recall it's name though...
Back on topic, just how many Eddie actors have there been now? I've noticed at least one change...

Eddie has always been played by Moose, and though his son, Enzo, does sometimes fill in for Moose for the more strenuous work on Frasier, it's usually always Moose. If you've ever seen My Dog Skip then you can see father and son playing the older and younger versions of Skip, respectively.
By the way, I voted for Eddie. That dog is the only actor I know that can get me to laugh just by sitting down and looking at someone.

I voted for Frasier. One thing I love is how the interactions between him and his little brother often mirror my interactions with my little brother. He is the ultimate irony, a master of human psychology who cannot conquer the demons in his own head, dispensing advice from a garden of insanity. Kelsey Grammer is a supreme actor. Like most of the Frasier cast (David Hyde Pierce especially), he sinks a fantastic amount of talent into each individual line and gesture. A fine theatrical specimen.

I've heard viewers who were disappointed with Niles & Daphne's romance, but let's get serious, people. The show can't maintain the same running gag for its entire run. As in life, things must change. Otherwise, people would complain that the show was too repetitive or unrealistic, or worst of all, UNRESOLVED. The situations in Frasier change all the time, but the characters always stay true to themselves, and the writing remains top quality, and I think that's the most important thing.
But the MOST important thing is the funny calls, like the time a crazy guy called in and thought his radio was talking to him, so Frasier said, "Listen to me. I am a very smart radio, and I want you to turn me off, go to sleep, and seek counseling in the morning." So the guy goes, "Sorry, doc. Can't talk anymore." Now that's good stuff.
But the REAL most important thing is how the characters interact with each other. Boy that's good.
But seriously though, it's that damn dog with his hats.

I agree it's important for shows to break from stagnation, however a poor choice in the change of character dynamics is as worse. Yes, shows should move on if they can (and Frasier has the writers to do it), but the Daphne/Niles was a bad move. It didn't work and in that, in can't be justified.
The other problem is that while many people enjoy watching shows evolve, there is set type of the average Joe which would rather they remain the same (my mother for one). It's a pity, but change for these people means a mass exodus from the viewing figures.....
