View Full Version : How about a revolving dc cartoon show?...

Instead of creating a Teen Titans or an Aquaman show. Why don't they have a show called "DC Adventures", like the comic. Each episode could revolve around one(or two) heroes. For example one episode can be a story starring the Atom. The next week it could be a story with the Legion. Some stories could be multiple episodes. I think this would a better way of doing any future show.

ps-The first show can star Dr.Mid-Nite. ;)

I like the idea. Id love to see Atom get animated in timm-style and we could also see some cool team ups. :D

Howdy,

Add another vote for this as a concept. I think it's actually a better idea than a dedicated Aquaman series. There are also a lot of cool heroes that I'm not sure can sustain an entire series on their own, and would just get lost in a Justice League episode as its been written so far.

We could even pre-start complaint threads here of "HERO X doesn't show up enough!!", "HERO X shows up too much!!", "What drugs where they thinking when they did a show with HERO X?", and best of all "Why did they use HERO X for Politically Correct reasons?" :).

That's a terrific idea, Doc.

Would we prefer to have all the episodes take place within the same continuity, or not? I'd liked to see every episode stand alone, but overall there could be little references to other episodes.

For example, a reference to Captain Cold in a Wonder Woman episode would not be lost on the viewer who didn't see that particular Flash episode where Captain Cold appeared.

Anyway, this is a great idea for an animated show.

Yes, true. Filmation used to do this which is one of the reasons I liked them. They would have a Superman, Batman, or Aquaman episode and then the other half of the show would be a rotation of Green Lantern, Flash, Atom, Hawkman, Teen Titans, Superboy, and the Justice League. I loved it.

Excellent idea. I think it caters to our needs perfectly. But if Dr. Mid-Nite gets to go all ego-driven and say the first ep can go for HIS namesake I wanna see Nightwing in the Batman ones somewhere....or something. :p

Just call me the odd ball but I would rather see a Teen Titans show or Nightwing show for that matter before they do a "DC Team-Up Show". It seems like a nice idea but I want to see other DC Comics based cartoons like Birds of Prey, Nightwing, Teen Titans, Aquaman, Captian Mavel, JSA, and many others.

I had that idea a long time ago and thought about sharing it with other people, but never did...I forgot about that idea. It could have different heroes all the time...perhaps it could have some episodes about Adam Strange, The Legion Of Superheroes, The Wonder Twins, Sgt. Rock, Blackhawk, and others...the stories don't always nessasarilly have to take place in the present...maybe there can be a multiple part "Kingdom Come" story. That would be ausome...as long as it was done almost exactly the same. Maybe we'd be able to see some Vertigo stuff like Preacher or something else. Maybe stuff from DC's Wildstorm comics could be on some episodes as well. Like, how about Danger Girl? Gen13? I think it'd be cool!

This remind me of the old "Adventures in The DC Universe" Title done in Animated style.

I think this could be great if done correctly, of course, on the other hand... The problem with shows like this is that they can so easily become cheesy and boring. "Adventures in the DCU" was a fun title, I picked it up now and again, but, essentially, it was an example of what this series could get like..

The problem, I think, lies in the fact that every episode the characters would have to be introduced and explained, not only taking up story-time, but, because the character is so "new" to viewers, there is a very low chance any stories with much depth would eventuate..

I once tried to suggest they do a "Star Trek: Academy" series, this was when "Voyager" was ending. I was shot down because the writers and producers at a convention simply said "The Networks shy away from Anthology shows because of fear of disenchanting the audience from week-to-week. No familiar faces, story, or plot is dangerous ground to walk in television.". And well, this seems to be the problem with this DC animated series as well, even if Marvel did it, which they probably could get away with, seeing how they're not owned by WB.

Spider-Man, Hulk, and Daredevil as a round robin series, but that's stupid thinking on my part.

I would love to see a live action Sandman series that isn't based on the series per se, but just that he introduces new stories in a twilight zone-esque way and even some Hellblazer, Swamp Thing, or maybe an animated episode by Bruce Timm and company. But like I said, that's stupid thinking on my part.

Maybe some of the characters from the DCU animated series would be introduced on Justice League or something first, that way we'd already have an origin story, and people would be more familiar with the characters.

That's a really good idea. I like it alot. But, like Electric Knight said, they would have to do it really well in order for it to be a success.

The only problem I would have w/ the show would be that they wouldn't use any old episodes. They would have to come out w/ new fresh episodes because once they start running re-runs, they have this nasty little habbit of not stopping. (hence the Justice League series) All in all, I think they should do it.
