Do you guys think it's worth it to buy the box set for the CB...

If i am going to here are my plans.
1. Save up for a while and buy it.( it costs 500$)
2. Buy two sessions every month( 50$ for two sessions but it will end up costing more in the end)

If you don't like these plans give some advice..
Thanks

Are you talking about VHS or DVD? I thought about ordering the box used (there were only 10,000 made last fall), but I decided just to buy the sessions, all at the same time. For about $180 I got all 6 DVD's. The only additions to the box are the box and soundtrack. I wouldn't suggest getting it on VHS as video and sound are so much better on the discs.

What I did was buy "The Perfect Sessions" for $135 on Ebay. It has all 26 episodes on only 3 DVD's.

That sounds bootleg to me.

It's worth it! Very, very worth it! Go Here right now and put every cent you own into it! I need money really badly!...I mean...You need this box really badly! BID!

Yep, that's a bootleg. The Perfect Sessions comes on 6 DVDs. So, either "3" is a typo, or you got a bootleg copy off eBay.

Apparently you don't need it really badly. $150 for a box is just stupid.

The box set was 200 bucks, and all the DVDs seperately were 180. I just don't see why anyone would buy a box seperately, it's not that important.

Please don't spam the boards, even if it is on-topic. Spam is bad.

And I removed the link.

Wow...I've never been accused of spamming before...I feel so lowly and dirty.

As for 150 dollars for the box, I agree, it's a lot for just a box, but I've seen them go for even higher, just the box. I'm hoping I can sell mine that way, too.

However, you do get one incredible soundtrack. The OST 1 that comes with the box set has almost all of the shows best jazz tracks. I'd say it's definitely worth the purchase (compared to buying them all seperately). But, if the original prints are all sold out, maybe buying them seperately isn't such a bad idea. As we've seen, buying them used online could result in a bootleg copy.

...Although, I'm certainly not insinuating anything about the used items up for sale by anyone here. ;)

Sorry if I sounded a little harsh, but having people advertise their stuff is just a habit that we don't want to see start up on the boards. It's hard to draw the line, but it's easiest if we just don't allow it at all.

Yeah, I agree completely, actually. I wasn't actaully trying to advertise my box, but I saw the thread and was quickly reminded of what I recently put up. My mistake.

Back on topic, I have a question...

Real (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1554617679)

Fake (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1556315001)

I have no idea, I thought it was another fake but it looks authentic... (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1554812578)

I didn't get the Perfect Sessions because they stopped making them by the time I got a DVD player (it figures, right?) :( I got all 6 DVDs in a bundle from eBay.

No legitamate Japanese release has English subtitles, plus I think the Japanese release had 9 DVDs (correct me if I'm wrong).

This is sort of unrelated, but can anyone tell me what happened to Session 6's spindle. Everytime i put the disc back in I'm afraid I'm going to damage it. Has anyone else noticed this?

Jake

I really have no idea, but I figured why would somebody bootleg something in the language most people don't prefer? Also, that's the only place I've seen the art on the front, but then again I'm not CB art expert.

Might I suggest: Fata Morgana's Bootleg FAQ from jazzmess.com (http://www.jazzmess.com/merch/bootlegfaq.html) ?

Very helpful.

Yeah, the Japanese sessions had like 3 episodes to a disc, there are more than six sessions.

I'm so sick of all those bootlegs..

*loves her official Perfect Sessions muchly*

Yes. Anything that doesn't have six DVDS or has a Chinese dub or sub, is a bootleg.

I wouldn't buy it. Just for the box and the CD? Nah. You can get all six DVDs for much cheaper then that. At Animenation they have a Cowboy Bebop DVD bundle. You should get that.

You can also use a debit card as opposed to a credit card for online purchases (in case you can't get or don't want a credit card). I use a debit card for most of my online purchases and haven't gotten burned yet

Some of you may want to consider looking on half.com for the DVDs also... I just started building my collection and I've found some very reasonable prices there.

If you haven't heard of them before, half.com (owned by eBay) sells used media: books, movies, music, etc. I've bought all my CDs there since The Great Napster Crisis of Ought-One. I'm never giving another penny to the RIAA if I can help it.

I digress... I got the first two Bebop DVDs for something like $14 apiece. They're not bootlegs (I rented the real deals through Netflix first, so I know what they're supposed to look like), and they were in outstanding shape. Keep your eyes open; deals like that pop up all the time. :)

Well I never thought of using a debit card, but who knows, I gues I'll have to wait.
