View Full Version : Anyone here get Toon Disney?
My cable system is having a one-week free preview of Toon Disney. It just started today. Do they show anything noteworthy, like some old B&W Disney cartoons? So far, I've only seen the late 80s/early 90s cartoon shows that aired on Disney Afternoon.

No. You're not missing out on anything.
If its oldies you want, stick to INK & PAINT CLUB on the regular Disney channel. Toondisney just shows:
Darkwing Duck
Aladdin
Hercules
Talespin
Chip/Dale's Rescue Rangers
Timon & Pumba
etc...That kinda stuff. The only cool thing I saw was their Friday night Toon movie, which was THE ADVENTURES OF ICHABOD & MR. TOAD. But that was before the video/dvd came out.

I don't get Toon D*sn*y. My parents decided it's not worth the money, and I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything.

Toon D*sn*y = D*sn*y Afternoon Channel.
I haven't seen any classic cartoons on there. And D*sn*y doesn't show any of their classic shows anymore.

I have it...sadly. They rarely show the old D*sn*y cartoon from the 30's and 40's. They only air them on Mickey Mouse Marathons. Which are never shown anymore.

Peter, you like the old Disney shorts? I always thought you hated them. No offense, just curious about what you're into.

You'd think Disney would give more time time to the cartoons that started the company. The Disney characters have always been the company's big item, but it's been years since Mickey and the gang were thought of as cartoon characters and not corporate icons. How many kids can say "I love Mickey Mouse because there was this cartoon where he...and he...?" There are a lot of good Disney cartoons (IMO), many are better than Mickey Mouse Works/ House of Mouse, which just seems to want to re-capture the old shorts. I guess it's like the Woody Woodpecker show: "Show new stuff, forget that we have some great old cartoons that haven't been widely seen in so long that they'd play like new." How many TV networks does Disney own? Surely there's room for at least one hour a week on a non-pay, non-cable station where we can see the old shorts.
And Gotlucky has a point, the Sveven bashing is getting a bit old. I think he had it coming to him to a certain extent because we all very well know he hates cartoons from other "wierdo" studios without him saying it EVERY chance he gets, but everyone got their feelings out and we should just move on. This board isn't as enjoyable (IMO) when most of the new posts are about Sveven, anyway.

if my joke was misconstrued as bashing, I apologize. I meant no harm by it.

No way! I hate them! Sorry though to all you D*sn*y fans. It's just that one day I accidently turned on toon d*sn*y (it burnt my eyes) instead of comedy central and saw a old mickey short.

They are not shown for one reason. Because kids today think they are boring. If it has a fart joke, a poop joke or violence then kids will watch it. Kids today think they are "corny", "boring", "retarted" and "stupid".Funny those are some of the words I use to describe about todays shows! :)

Was it a 40s or 50s Mickey short? lots of people believe Mickey had lost his appeal after the late 30s. The 40s and 50s were Donald and Goofy's time (though some would dissagree).

I get the "Toon Disney" channel", and there's nothing really good on it. I loved those Disney Afternoon cartoons, stuff like "Bonkers" and "Aladdin" and "Darkwing Duck", but there's really not a whole lot of pleasure in seeing them again. If you've seen them all at least twice, like when they debuted and reran about 5 years ago, they get boring. I actually like those better than any old Mickey Mouse cartoon, but they don't need an entire separate channel. There are some old Disney toons I haven't seen for years, I've always kind of liked the Donald Duck vs. Chip and Dale cartoons. I have not seen those on TV for a long time....then again I'd rather tape the Warner stuff on CN than set a timer for late-night on the regular Disney. So yes, I get Toon Disney, no, I don't like or watch it.

Good luck finding any Disney cartoons made before 1990 on Toon Disney. Your best bet is to tune in at the end of their Friday night movie... if you are lucky they sometimes air a couple Disney cartoons as filler.

If you want to see classic cartoons on Toon Disney, you either have to get up very early or set your VCR for around 5 or 5:30 a.m. when they run Donald's Quack Attack. I think they run it right after Ink and Paint Club ends on the regular channel but where The Disney Channel is commercial-free, Toon Disney began running ads last year, which means the four-cartoon Quack Attack on The Disney Channel is cut down to just three on Toon Disney.
Now if you like Sonic the Hedgehog, Toon Disney has that and the Disney Afternoon shows coming out the wazoo, every day of every week of every month of every year. As bad as CN gets running Scooby Doo and the Cartoon-Cartoons all the time, they can still point at Toon Disney and say "Hey, at least we're not as rancid as that thing."

Poor Mickey,Donald,Goofy etc Disney should wipe off their cobwebs and give them an hour long show.
BTW,I think Mickey still had "Some" charm left in him in the early 40's its just the late 40's-50's that Mickey got boring and plain.
