i want to make burn CD's from stuff i have on VHS

there some stuff that i have on VHS that will not last forever, so i would like to how i can somehow connect my VCR to my PC and then encode the episodes to an mpg file and then burn it on to a CD.

my DVD player is capable of playing VCD's so how would i go about that also? thanks.

OK you want to take VHS to turn it into VCD right?

Well step one you need a capture card. like the all and wonder (I don't like the stupid card but the fact is it is the cheapist capture card on the market that isn't complete garbage)

step 2 hook up patch cables to your VCR then hook the other end to the capture card

step 3 get the computer 2 start capturing

step 4 start up the VCR

step 5 edit the mpg

step 6 well if you have a DVD burner you burn it into DVD if you have a regular cd burner you can burn it into VCD with the proper software.
