give Me your info what wouyld you like to see?
Personally my choices would be to see
Blue Gender make it to ASA (you wouldn't believe how many people want this show on tv if you have visited other fourms)
so what do you want?

If they could show a subbed anime, I'd say Rurouni Kenshin. But, since they obviously won't, I'm gonna say Trigun. While I own the whole series, I just think it'd be a nice one to air.
Although I'd MUCH prefer Kenshin, although the dub sucks (ANY dub for Kenshin would suck. It just NEEDS to be in Japanese.)

I was going to say Kenshin too. It would be perfect for what ASA is going for. It's mature, and has a lot of great fight scenes. There needs to be some sword-fighting on ASA. It's also very educational. I tried the dub track on the DVD and I couldn't listen to it for more than 15 seconds, so maybe it could be the first ASA show subtitled.

I haven't watched many anime titles outside of whats been shown on Toonami and Adult Swim, so I might say Trigun would be good for ASA.

I'd say we need a homegrown adult action cartoon. (Don't get me wrong, I love anime, but I feel the medium is being typecast as an action genre). Unfortuantely what exists right now probably isn't usable. Spawn was shown originally on HBO, another AOLTW network, but would require editing for content on CN. Aeon Flux could be shown without edits, but since it was an MTV show, it is more likely to make it back to another Viacom channel like TNN (or, if we wait 10 or more years TV Land).
There is a great movie that would work as a one shot. Nelvana made a film in the mid '80s called Rock and Rule. That would be a great feature to bring movies into the ASA mix.

Rahxephon and Samurai Deeper Kyo indefinately.Rahxephon is nearing it's end while Samurai Deeper Kyo is on episode 6 or so but bygod both are AMAIZNG!Now I rarely like new anime,it's not original anymore, but these 2 are ORIGINAL!Especially Samurai Deeper Kyo.
Kenshin...I guess.I just hate the fillers and I've never been a fan of "I'm a mean hardass....NOW I'M GOOFY!" humor like in Kenshin or Trigun but the plot is coherent, action is great, and Sano is the greatest badass ever.
.Hack//Sign would be great and I'l bet dollars to donuts it makes it's way to ASA eventually.
EVA oviously though Rahxephon would cover the "psychological dark mech drama" department.
On the comeyd front I'd love to see Ranma,Love Hina,or Jubei-Chan.

Kenshin would be great but the dub blows, and it can be in English just with better voices, maybe Kenshin would be good for the Reactor if they are thinking of doing subs
Trigun would be great I havnt seen anythign past episode 4
Flame of Recca or Escaflowne would be great.... Flame of Recca could probably be edited though and appeal to the DBZ crowd on Toonami
Kare Kano would be great for Adult Swim in General but i wouldnt say its a action or comedy (Although it does have comedic parts) Oh well
Hey! American Cartoons are good too! Maybe (although it would never happen) they can start making new Batman Beyonds specficically for Adult Swim that way they can up the violence and such. That would be great.

Hear that, stanteau? SOMEONE's only seen 4 of the WORST episodes in the series and says it'd be great to see it on AS.
Kenshin is the ONLY anime I like that I REFUSE to watch dubbed. It's not because the voices suck, its simply because it can't be dubbed. There are plenty of things that simply can't be dubbed, like his "oro?". I wouldn't watch RK dubbed no matter how accurate the translation was, or how good the voices are. It can LITERALLY be in English, but it can't be in English and be good.

And like I said only 8 of the 9 people I lent it too hated it,there was that one person.
I havn't seen the dub but didn't they keep it dubbed "Oro"?
Now off to watch Hikaru no Go.

Now off to watch Hikaru no Go. No, they changed it to "ahhhhhhhhhhhh".
The one thing I like about the RK dub is the first dubbed ending theme. They did a good job with that.

And I was hoping I can get the DVD sometime, but at the moment, no money but I'll ask a few friends of mine if the dub was good and the Dubbed music too.

Well I lent Trigun to a friend. He thought the first volume was lackluster, but once I showed him the second volume, he instantly had to see the third. Cliffhangers do that to him. ;) But once he saw the third volume he was sold on the show. It's one of his favorites now.
I think Kenshin could work on ASA, but as KingKoopa said, it's a show that just doesn't feel right in english. I'd prefer they air it in japanese but since that won't ever happen....
Berserk would never happen on ASA. Not even Sci-Fi channel was able to handle it.
An anime I don't want to grace ASA ever is SoulTaker. You want to talk about a show that'll get bashed harder than Pilot Candidate, stanteau? SoulTaker is it. :P

No,I had to almost force them through it.8 of them literally just quit on the series.Once it was over only 2 of the 8 really liked it,the rest still thought it was lackluster.Maybe Ohio is backwards.
Berserk COULD work, but it'd require a TVMA and a lot of advisories on top of edits but I could see it working with only the most extreme stuff edited like Gatts hacking off his arm ,they get away with a LOT of extreme violence on The Shield and that's involving humans.

Thats very true but its on 10 PM and its Humans, Kids are naturally drawn (no pun intended) to cartoons, if you think about it. You would never want a kid stumbling on a cartoon where there is all that violence.... It being on a station that attracts kids, CN, you have that problem. If the cartoon was on say FX you probably wouldnt.
Sure that sounds kind of dumb but this is what TV and adults think.

You did know that's what Sci-Fi planned to do right? They even wanted to show it late at night. But it still couldn't fly. So they gave up.
Berserk and TV just won't mix ever. Unless they gave it the "PG-rated Spawn" treatment. And you DON'T want that happening because you'd be left with a 15-minute show lasting for about three episodes.

I am fully aware but that was almost a year ago before the Shield.I know it sounds stupid to think that every cable TV standard rests on 1 show but the Shield really did change everything.Hell, they showed a man with 6 heroin needles in him not to mention the result of a man stabbing 2 woman with a butcher knife,VERY VERY insanely bloody.

Ah! My Goddess (action)
The Adventures Of Mini-Godess ( more comedy than action)
Kenshin
Sailor Moon
Cardcaptor Sakura
Tenchi Muyo! ( I know it was on but uncut!)
Esclawflowne
8 Man After
Aeon Flux
That's just a few. :D

Hey Sheamon, you know where to find me
If it were my pick, I'd say...
*Now and Then, Here and There - sure, there isn't that many violence, but what's the point of Adult Swim if what you only want to show is gore and violence?
The series deals with war, child abuse, mental problems, tortures, politics, etc.
More than enough to fill the requirement for the mature material without having to go to the land of gore, sex, and violence.
*Master Keaton - the only problem with this series is the lack of action. The story of an insurance detective with a professor degree in archeology who used to be in SAS (British equivalent of Navy Seals or Green Beret, I guess).
That said, this series is very realistic. Imagine that, an entertaining and intense mature series with the added bonus of actually learning the political histories and secrets of the countries around the world.
Those are the series that I'd think will really be appropriate for the level of maturity that Adult Swim is aiming at.

NTHT would be so awesome, and I wouldn't downgrade the violence. Some of that stuff is just BRUTAL,and I'd imagine Sara's story would cause quite a problem on almost any story.
Artemis

Ah yes if Adult Swim really a needed a mature series Now and Then, Here and There would be it. 'Course it could a be a little strong for some viewers but it would definaitly put the "Adult" in Adult Swim and make use of the disclaimer.

Be patient, boys. CN is currently reviewing a few shows (.hack//SIGN being one of them) from Bandai and a couple other distributors, so I'd say ASA will be safe.
Yeah. Berserk on TV? No way. CN doesn't want anything that's just ultimately grotesque. (I guess that cancels out Hellsing too)
stanteau
08-13-2002, 11:56 PM
If Hellsing is grotesque then Berserk is vomit inducing.I didn't find Hellsing that violent. It was bloody but not THAT violent, maybe in the middle arc.

I would also like to see Key The Metal Idol on ASA. Seriously, this show needs exposure, I mean, how many of you know of it's existence?
Only problems:
1) Like NTHT, it may be a bit strong for some viewers.
2) There's some nudity in it. Some could easily be covered up with digital whatevers, but some wouldn't make sense with them.
3) It isn't necessarily an action show. It's got action sequences, but that's not really its focus.
4) Ajo may rub some people the wrong way. He ranks as one of the top anime villains that are "In Dire Need of a Strait Jacket". Man, is that guy nuts. Not funny nuts, but creepy disturbing nuts.
5) The last two episodes are an hour long and the majority of it is just talking. Might bore viewers out of their skull. Also why some people say just skip the last volume.
Other than that, the story is handled very maturely and would help AS accomplish it's goal of becoming a block for mature animation.

Some of the violence would be hard to edit as well.
And I love volume 15 but 14 put me to sleep numerous times and it's so useless.

One anime I would like to see on Adult Swim is Weiss Kruze also Known as Knight Hunters. The animation is ok and the dub from media blasters sux. But what anime isn't better in its origanal language anyway.
For those that don't know the story or plot. The story follows four guys that work in a flower shop as their cover job. In reality these four are assassens that hunt those that pray on the week for the evils of greed and power. All four boys are your basic breed type of hero.
Emotionless leader hero type:
Aya is a man with issues. He has not smiled since a tragidy that occured in his family. Ever since he has vowed to carry out his vengance on the injustice placed on him.
The play boy hero type:
Youji seems lazy and a poster boy for the tobacoo Co. But when women are involved on a mission he is one to be there.
The bro to everyone hero type:
Ken is a brother figure to each of the other three Knight Hunters. He likes kids and socker. Sometimes he gets confused as to where he stands but in the end makes a choice he feel is right even if the end result is not in his favor.
The brain of the operation kid Hero type:
Omi is the brain of the group. He has little to no memory of his past. And what vage memory he does have he wishes he didn't he is a relitive of the person Aya wants revenge one. And for a short time Aya was rather cold toward the poor boy.
Yet what is the hero with out his nemasis
Schwortz is another assassion group. That is compiled of Psychics. (yes think the brother hood of Mutants)this too has their own villin types.
The Buisness like precognative villen type:
Brad Crawford is a precognative. who at times goes through cliants like tooth paste. He dosn't like to waste time and he also dislikes insabordination.
The I'm only evil cus' its fun villen type:
Sholdage is a telecanetic that enjoys tormenting his victims by boring into their minds. He is quite a trouble maker.
The in desperite need of a strait jacket and padded cell villen type:
Farfarello doen't kill his victims insted he mutilates them until they die. He enjoys hurting people and himself because he beleaves it hurts God. (Farfarello is the only member of schwortz that isn't with power)
The I'm not really bad I've just had a bad life villen type:
Nagi is a former street kid that is also a telekinetic. He was taken in by schwortz because of his power and also like Omi he is a Computer Hacker.

Most definitely Trigun, I saw the first episode and really liked to see an anti-hero again even though I wouldn't know what happens later and becomes the main theme for Vash the Stampede.
P.S.
I thought the first ep. was a humble little intro to Trigun @ KingKoopa

Subbed Shows will never make an appearance on Basic Cable TV unless its a movie that has subtitles. It just wont happen. But Subed shows have the possibility of being on the Adult Swim Reactor. Lets only hope!
