Maxie says: Hey guys, you got seriously off-topic. Normally that is far from a crime around here, but I'd prefer to keep the Toonzone Movie Club thread uncluttered for the time being.

One of my all-time favorites, The Good,The Bad,and The Ugly is given an R-rating by them. Now besides the victims that are gunned down by "Angel Eyes" in the opening of the film, this movie is no more than a PG-13 flick at best.

a. the shooter was Tuco, not Angel Eyes.

b. That scene is probably not the cause of the 'R' rating - watch it again.

*SPOILERS*

The murders that I'm referring to are Jackson(?) and his son, not the bandits that tried to smoke Tuco while he was grubbing.

Then theres the final murder Angel Eyes commits with the help of a pillow. Those deaths, especially the latter, can be disturbing. So I can see why the MPAA threw in the "R" rating on that. But TBS and TNT ,the TV channels that seem to show this movie on a monthly basis, airs the film with these scenes intact, and they do not delete anything else. So why the R-rating then?

Now there have been cases of X-rated movies (The Wild Bunch,A Clockwork Orange,Angel Heart..To name a few) That were bumped down to an "R" rating without making changes to them. But Ive never heard of an "R" rated film that was allowed to become rated PG. And GBU should be the 1st to qualify.

does the version you've seen have the 'flashback' segments intact?

uhhh....

these scenes are the reason I do not want my teen neice and nephew to see this film until they are about 22, so I'm not going to give a lot of details, but it introduces the viewer to Angel Eye's twin sister, and explains the identical chiming watches

Those flashbacks you're talking about are from the 2nd Leone/Eastwood spaghetti flick, For a Few Dollars More not GBU. Shucks! And I was all hyped up for some *possibly* more lost-footage.

Ah well...

My favorite Sergio Leone film didn't have Clint Eastwood, but Charles Bronson. It was "Once upon a time in the West." It's a good movie all the way through, but I especially like the way it starts out.
There are three dudes waiting at a train station. They are people who have starred in other westerns, so you're thinking they'll be some of the main character in this one. But when Bronson gets off the train he guns them all down.

Maxie says: I know, you had a kind of spoiler thing already going. Just thought I'd help out.

For the info of anyone who is curious. The spoiler-code is the word "SPOILER" in brackets; to turn it off use [/SPOILER]

Thanks man, I was looking for a button for it. Didn't there used to be a button???

I guess that code is pretty darn easy to remember. Or even to figure out if I'd thought about it. I should probably go in for a plexonomy. I just made a post on the freaky movie thread without using the code. I'll try to go edit.

I don't think there used to be a button. Anyway, I never knew how it was done until I got mod-powers, and could sneak into the posts of people who did know and discover the secret! :D

That's one reason I went ahead and made the change and described how it was done.
