According to today's [website name removed], Rich Fogel let slip a number of villains that would be appearing this season. There were several that we already know about, of course (Lex Luthor, Brainiac, Darkseid, Despero); but he also mentioned several new ones as well, such as Amazo, Eclipso, and Dr. Destiny!
My only regret is that it appears that the Crime Syndicate won't appear after all.

I merged the thread dealing with the "Season Two Villains Revealed" and the "Season 2 episodes revealed" into one thread.

Yeah I saw that on that site. They even had some pics of the Blackhawk planes from the "Savage Time" ep but they where very hard to make out.
Most of the characters appearing had already been mentioned as posibilities but I never realized they were going to have Eclipso appear. The second season is going to be very nice.

Is there a website where I can find more background info about those "O" JL villains? I'm not a classic JL reader (I've started on the Keith Giffen's run) so this characters are pretty new to me.
Thanks in advance,

I'll see what I can do. After all, I'll need to give them their own pages on Toon Zone's JL page.

Amazo: an android with all the powers (including GL ring and magic lasso) of the Justice League. Created by another "O", namely Professor Ivo.
Eclipso: not a Justice League villain in the comics. Originally, he was Bruce Gordon with a Jeckyll and Hyde concept; during an eclipse, Bruce will change into his evil alter ego, Eclipso, who uses a black diamond to create various effects. Later, his story was changed so that Eclipso was really an ancient god of vengeance. Apparently, anyone can be "eclipsed", causing their evil selves to come out.
Dr. Destiny-O: Originally fought the Justice League with his anti gravity weapon, he later invented the materioptikon which gives him powers over dreams. At one point, he lost the power to dream which cut him off from some of his power. It was later revealed that he was using a gem belong to Morpheus (aka Sandman) who took back the gem and destroyed, taking its power back. This had a side effect of making Dr. Destiny more powerful somehow.
Despero was discussed in another thread.

Are we sure that this is THE Amazo? I heard it was just going to be an android with similar powers but his name wasn't nessasarily going to be Amazo...did they change their mind or something?

Maybe one of them is the upcoming Brainiac storyline? Just a guess...
But I'm looking forward to the Ra's Al Ghul storyline--he's back!!! I can't wait for this season...

This season sounds terrific, I think the show will really pick up this season, as did many other great shows before it like The Simpsons.

Is Talia the Maid of Honor? Is Ra's marrying Diana? Hmmm, most interesting. I miss David Warner's voice talents. Will Olivia Hussey reprise her role as the Demon's Daughter?
Darkseid...nuff said. Hopefully they delve more into the New Gods. They only skimmed the surface in STAS.
Having Dr. Destiny appear, does that imply the Sandman as well?
Hearts & Minds: maybe hearts as in cards...as in the Royal Flush Gang. or perhaps hearts as in love, as in pheramones...as in Poison Ivy. And minds...as in mind control...as in The Mad Hatter??? Curiouser and curiouser.
Tabula Rasa: looks like a Ra's episode...but possibly the return of Felix Faust. Maybe Dr. Fate too?
A Better World: perhaps the aftermath of War World? Or maybe an Earth-2 story? Or perhaps the title is sarcastic, depicting a world gone to seed...but why? Maybe this is the Ivy epsiode...a better world...w/o mankind.
I don't mind being kept in the dark.
Which one of these is the Aquaman story..or is that yet untitled?

If Season Two is 13 eps, shouldn't one of those be a 3 parter?

so Despero is the villain for "Hearts and Minds"?
i wonder what "Tabula Rasa" is about. Sounds to me like Felix Faust. Any other guesses?

YTV! Get the rights to THESE episodes!

Gentlemen, as always, thank you for your insight. As you could probably tell, some of the info I was suspicious about, so I put a question mark after some of them:
1) Renegades was posted on TV Tome along with several confirmed names, so I included it just in case.
2) Jim Harvey recently broke the news on Ra's Al Ghul in a news article, but I haven't seen a direct quote yet.
3) I remember hearing the Joker's name thrown around somewhere recently, but I can't remember where.
4) The only kind of info I have on the Secret Society was Bruce Timm's promises of another "Injustice Gang/Legion of Doom/what-have-you story" and the return of Darkseid (who is credited with forming the group in the original press materials). The pieces fit, but maybe his plans have changed...
I'll make the appropriate changes to the page sometime this week (I hope).

That's really bad news, and in a way some kind of injustice with Batman fans. I mean, why a Superman villain like Brainiac is most likely to appear, and not one of the most dangerous Dark Knight's enemies? Ras Al ghul has world domination written all over him, making him perfectly suited to fight JL.
It's a shame indeed.

It is a shame, but it's understandable.
First off, maybe the creative team still has some STAS villain stories that they want off to get off their chest. There are over 100 Batman episodes (plus the two movies), but Superman only got half that.
Second, Superman's villains are more suited to fight the JL. Brainiac and Lex Luthor are more "supervillain" oriented, while nearly all of Batman's villains are more "Dick Tracy gangster" oriented. Ra's Al Ghul, for the record, is more of a "James Bond" villain -- better suited for a non-superpowered hero.
Finally, Ra's Al Ghul only fought the Justice League one time in the comics, and it was only recently. He's not really a JL villain...but he could be, if Justice League gets a Third Season.

I understand your point, Krakull. Lex Luthor and Braniac are more classic JL villains than Ras Al ghul. They have even apperead on the Superfriends cartoons. But I disagree when you say that Ras Al Ghul is more like a non-superpowered villain and Lex Luthor is not. I know the guys from JL animated are trying to get back to the Superpowers era of Lex, but in this new (post-Crisis) continuing, Lex Luthor is a mastermind villain just like Ras Al Ghul. And, the latter confronted Superman in STAS, so he could be a superpowered hero foe.
And you say that Ras Al Ghul only confronted JL in the comics recently. Alright. That's why bringing him to the show is so nice. It would be a new thing for the classic readers of JL from the comics, but a classic thing to do for the people that are familiar with BTAS and STAS.
But that's only my 2 cents.

Plug time! For those of you who are wondering about the recently announced villains for Season Two, I've added entries for Amazo, Despero, and Eclipso to Toon Zone's JL page (http://justiceleague.toonzone.net/). Also, for the heck of it, I threw together pages for the Key and Ra's Al Ghul as well.

I'm sad to hear that Ra's Al Ghul won't be in the second season of Justice League. But I think he would definitely be a match for them. One thing Ra's likes to do is know his enemies. With Batman involved in JL the thought would certainly cross his mind that Batman would use the JL against him. Therefore, he would want to eliminate that threat. In the STAS episode "The Demon Reborn" he nearly killed Superman and Batman as well. If those Lazarus Pits aren't working anymore, he might look to Superman again or one of the others to help rejuvenate him.
Of course, this is just a lot of speculation on my part. I hope though that Ra's will turn up in JL.

On the news page is a lovely article about the upcoming second season, including a list of the actors dropping by to lend their voices to DC's roster of characters. Amung those present...."Mark Hamill, Dana Delany, Robert Picardo, William Atherton, Clancy Brown"
I'm thrilled!!! Does this mean we'll finally get to see Lois and Clark again?!?!? Here's hoping!!!

I hope you don't mind, DisneyBoy, but I went ahead and merged your thread with this one, which is supposed to cover all general Season Two announcements.
As for my reaction to the latest announcement, who the heck is Ichthultu supposed to be? I mean, I above all people here should know that he's probably going to be another Cthulhu-related character, but why not just bring back Karkull?
Well, at any rate, he's/its probably a new character designed for the show, which works on two levels. First, Bruce Timm is a big H.P. Lovecraft fan (the previous Karkull appearance). Second, the early Justice League of America stories featured a ton of Lovecraft references - Felix Faust had a copy of the Necronomicon, for example. Say, is this Faust's return appearance?
DisneyBoy
08-26-2002, 08:31 PM
Actually, Karkull, I`m glad you merged my thread with this one! I feel kinda dopey, not having noticed this thread at all... :o
I really don`t know anything about this Cthylchckaschthylich-whatever person, so I can`t give any input on that. I will however say this:
-I`m glad that Rās (ignore the accent...this is a french keyboard  ) isn`t appearing just yet on the show because I`m not yet happy with the quality of the writing (even though I haven`t seen the entire first season yet), and I think it would be much better to save him for a DTV film. That way, they could put some extra thought into how to integrate him into the series an pit him against a group of super-heroes. Of course, this makes me wonder what the `Tabula Rasa` title is all about....
-The smartest thing the writers could do right now is begin developing the character`s personal lives. It adds an element of depth and realism to the series if we get to see the heroes form real relationships with normal people rather than spending all their time in the Watchtower. Including Lois in the permanent, or semi-permanent guest roster is a really smart idea. That way, we could get a look at how things have changed between her and Clark. Besides, everyone loves Lois Lane! Hopefully, she`ll be a little suspicious of Clark, and closer to Superman.
As cheesy as it does sound, I really hope Justice League can give us the type of closure that B:TAS and S:TAS never attempted. I don`t see Timm or Dini handling any other major show after this, so I`d really like to see Batman and Superman (as well as the rest of League)`s relationships brought full-circle. I know this isn`t Dawson`s Creek, but I still want Lois to learn Clark`s secret, be completely furious with him, get thrown into a few more life-or-death situations, and then marry him. Batman and Catwoman (in her solo-series outfit...mmmmm ;) ) need to mend their bridges and try for something more than the usual game of Cat and mouse. As for the rest of the League, we still don`t know who they hang with or are interested in!!! Time`s a fleeting writers! Unless you expect to be on the air for ten years, I`d start bringing in a strong supporting cast. Only villains and heroes makes JL a dull show.... :(
Karkull
08-27-2002, 07:43 AM
No problem, DisneyBoy, this thread tends to drift downward when we have a lapse in news, ;).
I agree that that they need some more supporting cast. Snapper Carr and Hippolyta are okay, but they haven't contributed enough to the series yet. I'd like to see Lois Lane again, as well as Commissioner Gordon, Harvey Bullock, and even Inspector Maggie Sawyer as well.
DisneyBoy
08-27-2002, 09:59 AM
Hey, let's write a list of the essential JL supporting cast members:
-Lois Lane
-Snapper Carr
-Hippolyta and the Amazons
-Maggie Sawyer
-Sargent Hardcastle (from S:TAS I think...)
-Steven Trevor
-The Gods (to be featured every now and again in a really special episode...you know: Zeus, Athena, Aphrodite, Hera, Ares, Hermes etc.)
-Wally West's reporter gal...watzername...
-The GL Corps
Who else should be on the list? Let's keep in mind that these characters should be present in at least two episodes of the season, while not always being together of course!
Dark_Batman89
08-29-2002, 02:23 PM
Second, Superman's villains are more suited to fight the JL. Brainiac and Lex Luthor are more "supervillain" oriented, while nearly all of Batman's villains are more "Dick Tracy gangster" oriented. Ra's Al Ghul, for the record, is more of a "James Bond" villain -- better suited for a non-superpowered hero. Mr. Freeze could appear as the villian in a JL episode. Maybe Bane or Poison Ivy too.

More news from the grapevine: according to [website name removed], Dr. Fate is scheduled to appear. Nothing is currently known about the nature of his appearance (whether or not is he the same one from Superman's The Hand of Fate), but I'm willing to bet that it has something to do with that Ichthultu character that was previously mentioned.
I am dissapointed with the Ras Al Guhl news. However this doesn't mean that Talia won't appear. I doubt Bane will appear because in current continuanity he has met Batman once and Superman beat him by himself in Knight Time. Catwoman has no place in JL IMO. She simply isn't JL fighting material. I also hope Lois Lane comes back. One of the problems with JL I think it that no one has dug into the characters deep enough. I hope like to see an episode where say Flash goes on his daily rutine and we see him doing that and the rest of teh JL appear in the 2nd part cause he needs help. Also in the Darkseid episode I hope that this is the first time that Supes has seen Darkseid since Legacy.
