They started the show early to make it easier for a seventh cartoon to be shown.

What the ****! At the time of your post, the seventh cartoon hadn't started yet! That means you posted early, and then edited your post to have the seventh cartoon. Remember that if a post is edited within a few minutes, the edit message doesn't appear.

I'm sorry. I thought they were gonna shown only 6 cartoons. When I went to my TV at 2:50 another cartoon was starting. That's why.

That means I was most likely the first person to post the entire show, because I got my post up immediately, before there was time for an edit to be made.

Sveven:
Why don't you go on vacation NOW?!? Personally I could do without your incessant whining about the most trivial of things!
All I can say is thank God we can't actually hear you whine!
As for being first with a post -- WHO CARES?!? Go outside and play already!!

No offense, Sveven, but you do tend to (following word is censored) a lot over the littlest things.

Why is everybody (especially Mr.  , uh, I mean Sveven) always so eager and fighting over just to post the schedule? It's only a schedule

All of you who complain about me make me more likely to continue my behavior.
So, MYOB!

Okay, how's this: behave or your vacation from us starts early!Suspension of individuals from this board is not impossible, in fact I believe you have already been warned before. I don't mean any offense, Sveven, but pick your battles: who cares if the Acme Hour gets posted 5 seconds earlier or later? In the big scheme of things what does it matter? We are lucky to have this board in the first place, we all like to discuss the CN shows and anything else dealing with the cartoons, but there are rules. In order to make this an environment where people want to spend time, we have to be respectful to one another. The same goes for the rest of you, let's calm down and behave.

I didn't really care if I posted early or not. Like you people said, it's just a schedule.
To Sveven, no hard feelings.

Pests For Guests
This may be one of Friz Freleng's best Gopher shorts. Ironically the vibration of Elmer's chopping the tree down fills his house up with acorns all the faster. "Nuts!"
A Bone For a Bone
The rubber hose arm gag and the gas pipe were the funiest bits in the whole short. Anyone know the name of the tune that played on the soundtrack as the dog staggered from the oven after the explosion? Of course it could have all been avoided if that stubborn mutt had been nice about burying the bone elsewhere....
Lumber Jerks
The absurdity of grinding up trees to make fake logs always got me...."Television is just wonderful, isn't it!" "Yes. It will be even better when we get electricity!"
Two Gophers From Texas
A Ham in a Role
Essentially that's the same dog in both shorts--voice and mannerisms--but the coloring is slightly different. The high point of TGFT is the music bit, where as he plays the melody he tries to whack the Gophers....note his pronounciation of "book"--it cracks me up....in HIAR, either that horse had one powerful kick or his country house isn't far from the WB studios. Highlight: the glow-in-the-dark skeleton costume.
Gopher Broke
The Gophers vs. Foggy's nemesis, Barnyard Dawg, I believe for the first and only time. Am I crazy or did it look like the ending was cut short? I recall Bugs Bunny made a cameo in a Gophers short, swiping their carrots, but not if this is the one or whether that was a different one totally that wasn't aired here. Or maybe I just imagined the bloody thing....
I Gopher You
There was a Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries short which used the same title and featured the Gophers...but this isn't it (thankfully)--it's the one in the cannery. Fav lines--the one about starting at the wrong end and the one about getting all the rehydrated food back in its packaging.
The one with the Bugs cameo is "The Goofy Gophers," the first short with the duo.
Also, I think the dog in "Two Gopher's from Texas" is the strangest thing ever animated in a Warner Brothers cartoon. Lots of people say Witch Hazel is the most atypical (sp?) character, but she is normal by comparison. Just look at the dog's movements and design, almost scary.

I like that dog, but yeah, he's freaky looking in the "Two Gophers From Texas" cartoon. Kind of scary when he puts his face right up to your screen.

The Dog in "Two Gophers From Texas" has an angular and limited animation look to him that almost makes it seem like he was 'borrowed' from a cartoon from around 1965 or so and stuck in Davis' short. Of course, Davis did animate for Tashilin in the mid-40s before getting his own unit, and Tashlin's Daffy in his last cartoons was extremely angular for the time, so maybe that's where Davis got the idea from.
Oh, and the song played when the dog staggers out of the oven in "A Bone for a Bone" is one of Stalling's faves, "Shuffle off to Buffalo." Aside from being Freleng's first turn with the gophers, it also earns its place in Warners' trivia as be the only post-1940 cartoon to give Bugs Hardaway a story credit.
