He calls himself a resonsible Christian. I'm christinan and I have no problem with anime if I don't like it I don't watch. This guy must be on some powerful drug that makes denile much eiser. If he knew anything he would have know that morals were going to hell in a handbasket waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before animation of today was even thought of. If he were a resonsible Christian he would be going after things that are far worse than an animated picture show on the tube. This guy needs to get a grip. If this is what so called resonsible Christians have come to may God help us all.

People, it's a JOKE. I don't know what's funnier, the petition itself, or all people who signed it trying to defend anime.

Well, I took a look at a lot of the comments from the people who signed. I think the actual petition was meant to be serious, but the people signing it are clearly against it. Here are some of the PG comments from the "undersigned." (There are many more worse ones, trust me, lots of bad words are dropped.)
"you ignorant fools are the problem with this country, get out."
"BWA HA HA HA HA!"
"… Let's have some thought to this… Anime is a form of art and is a different culture… Learn to live with other ways of life and not blame them for your own faults."
"An anti-anime petetition? What will they think of next. It's quite amusing that people think anime can be causing the problems in "today's youth". "
Let's just say that this thing is dead in the water...
Now do I agree with the general message? In a way, yes, because anime is more influential to young adults then we care to realize. We should take its intake into our culture a little more seriously. However, I also think in the long run it will be better respected and enjoyed because of that, so it certainly doesn't need to be banned.
Oh, and to warn the kiddies, try not to read too many comments, there are a ton of f-bombs being dropped. You would think people could come up with better words, like ridiculous or preposterous  .
Later.

Assuming that the writer of the petition was serious (which he wasn't), signing a petition signigfies that you support the purpose of the petition. So it's kinda stupid to sign a petition just to publicly say you disagree with it. If they actually believed the guy was serious, and they disagreed with him, they should've e-mailed him.

Yeha T.V does have more of an impact than we think it does but in the end it all winds down to what kind of morlas you have decided to take up. ( I say this because even when parent raise their kids right they can still take in the wrong morals from anywhere not just T.V)

I think its a joke. According to someone who signed against it, the person's IP number came from Canada. :)

This guy can't be serious. Someone on the petition pointed out that his alias was "Neko" which is japanese for cat. He probably did this for a good laugh or to see people's reactions. I know I got a good laugh from it.

As I said in the petition to try and be the voice of reason...
"The internet. The only medium where the ability to edit one's thoughts to give their opinion the most eloquent way possible is consistently ignored."
I don't know, I could be wrong, but I see that happen all too often.

iAmVincent cussing isn't allowed so don't do it again. I think this person is serious and the people that signed it weren't so smart either even if your against it and trying to tell him/her off your still signing it. Its all fun the petition the person that made it and his/her religously brain-washed mind and the people that "signed" it. LOL

Oh, it's a joke... I knew it was before even going. I happen to spend a lot of time around what most of the internet world refers to as "trolls" (i've done some trolling myself, in fact. But I only use those powers for good.) so I know my brands of internet humor. The only thing irritating about this is the people taking it seriously!
I signed as giantrobotmantis :p
As for "supporting it by complaining": online petitions absolutely, positively, do not make any difference. Go read snopes.com. You can sign petitions all you want, it doesnt matter. Even physical, offline petitions are thrown away and not taken seriously because they are far too easy to forge. If some nut made a REAL petition like this and sent it to congress, not even their lowest-level toilet-scrubber of an employee of an employee would even give it a nanosecond's notice.

There certainly should be a ban-anime network around. I am truly devoted to Japan and Japanese culture and I am astounded and hurt at the awful display anime gets in America. People link it to the wonderful history and language of Japan; it is sloppy animation and it takes precedence in people's lives like nothing else.
Saying "I love Anime" is like saying "I love books". I do love many books, but if there is a book about homosexual pigs or the details of fish gesticulation periods then I do not love those books. Anime is a style, not a show; a genre, not a definite article, and it is not somethign to be worshiped insanely by drooling seventh graders across the globe.
REAL animation is a true joy; mass media turnouts with no plot like the garbage I see on American television is worthless trite. The best Japanese shows are the ones not translated; those which maintain an untainted history, like Nintama Rantarou and Chibi MaruKo-Chan.
Furthermore, just because a show was animated by a Japanese company does not make it Anime; Such as Jungle Taitai (a truly excellent show!!) and the old "Sherlock Hound" series (by our well-loved TMS). What constitutes as "anime" is generally any creature with a tail or cat features or something with a line for a nose and a mouth that does not form the long "o" sound.
Anime is disgusting; please stop ranting about it. (yes, I see the irony that statement).
Hmm any way, focus on real shows; with plot, character development, animation that isn't done on fours, and witty acting and writing. Yes some shows that happen to be anime are like this, but that doesn't mean that "anime is super terrific", all right?
Yarr...just thinking about it kicks the wind out of me...
By the way, the "a" in "anime" is pronounced "ah", like in "father". Deal with it.

I take offense to your comment about homosexual people. I myself am quite straight, but I have several friends who are members of the gay community, and frankly, they treat me with more respect than self-rightious, so-called "well-adjusted" people like you.
Your definition of "anime" is quite wrong as well. Anime is both the Japanese and French word for animation. Quite simply, anything that doesn't constitute live actors and can be done with cel drawings or computers is, therefore, anime.
And you've contradicted yourself. Your post is, in its wording and general message, a rant, which is something you've just blatantly ordered us not to do. Basically, if you can't keep from doing it yourself, don't take it as your right to order others not to.

Nicely said! I personally don't care for anime, but that does not mean I want it banned. Everyone has their own favorite type of animation.

Does noone listen to me or something? Why are people still discussing the petition in a serious manner? Scroll up and read my post again a few dozen times. Urgh.
To me it is so obviously a joke I don't even have to read it. I know for a 100% fact that it is humorous and the person DOES know what they sound like. Their style and humor is identical to that of the hundreds of people who go to the board I reg (and moderate) at most.

I am sorry if I offended you; homosexual animals is just not a topic that interests me. I was not attempting to offend the gay community, especially since I am a part of it being a transgendered person. I do not think of myself as "well-adjusted" and I do not really know what you meant by that last comment.
You are right about the negative energy of my post and I am sorry that I posted it because it appears more destructive than I intended. I didn't mean to offend any body and I suppose I was just mad in general.
Sorry for my actions; I will try to be more kind in the future and deal with you all with equinamity although your views man be different than mine.
