Last weekend, I was shopping with my family at a local K Mart and came across a surprise tape in the video department -- a Pink Panther tape! It was part of "The Pink Panther Cartoon Collection" and was titled "Prehistoric Pink". The video is in a pink (what else?) clamshell case and features 8 cartoons:
"Pink Breakfast"
"Pink of the Litter"
"Pink Plasma"
"Pink Posies"
"Pink S.W.A.T."
"Prehistoric Pink"
"Twinkle Twinkle Little Pink"
"Pinto Pink"
What made this video find even more amazing was the price -- only $2.99!

Later that day, I was at a local Meijer store (for those who aren't familiar with that chain, it is like a Super K Mart or Super Walmart) and found yet another Pink Panther tape! This one was called "Pink Bananas". It also contained 8 cartoons:
"Pink Aye"
"Pink Bananas"
"Pink Flea"
"Pink on the Cob"
"Pink Pranks"
"Pink Punch"
"Supermarket Pink"
"Trail of the Lonesome Pink"

The tapes have a copyright date of 1997 on the outside label and also had a figurine packaged with each of them (one looks like the ant from the "Ant and the Aardvark series, the other one is blue and I don't remember the character's name).

Were there more videos in the "collection"? Are these "out of print?" Has anybody seen these anywhere else?

Also, does anyone know if there is a website listing all of the Pink Panther cartoon titles?

Having not seen the Pink Panther for a couple of years (since Cartoon Network stopped airing the cartoons), I am really looking forward to watching the tapes!

After the Cartoon Moviestars series from MGM/UA went out-of-print (the Moviestars series also featured WB and MGM cartoon tapes), they introduced the Pink Panther Cartoon Collection. I think these are still currently available from MGM/UA. In addition to the tapes you found, there is also JET PINK (also available on DVD), PINK-A-RELLA, and PINK ELEPHANT.

For some reason, while the Ant and the Aardvark and the Inspector are featured on the covers to many of these tapes... they don't contain any of those cartoons (I wish they did). I have seen tapes packaged with the following figures: Pink Panther, The Ant, The Aardvark, Pink Panther's girlfriend, and Misterjaw the shark.

I was at a local K-Mart store today and they also had a bunch of new copies of PREHISTORIC PINK for $2.99! I didn't have this tape... so I bought it right away, of course. If you are a Pink Panther fan, check out your K-Marts, this is a great deal. :D

I also noticed a few interesting videos in a $1.99 display. I found a tape of vintage commercials (haven't watched it yet, though). And noticed a bunch of the CARTOON EXPLOSION public domain collections.

Actually, my local Big Lots is also selling tons of Cartoon Explosion tapes, so if you live near a Big Lots, check it out. I didn't buy any since really the only cartoon I wanted was Fresh Hare, but it's been posted here that they edit ithe ending on that tape. I may get the one with Rookie Review on it, is it edited too?

"Fresh Hare"'s ending is edited (better than how CN does it), but "Rookie Review" is complete.
