No. If I remember right, it was done by Hanna and barbera as a Cartoon Network special for "Boomerang". It's supposed to be pretty good, though I haven't seen it.

Okay, I have not seen that cartoon. I'll watch it, with not-so-high-or-low expectations. :)

IIRC, the last time it aired on CN was in last year's Memorial Day T&J Slamfest. It was actually quite good in my opinion. Much better than the Chuck Jones stuff that gets rerun into the ground.

Finally saw it this morning (thanx for the heads up, Martin:)).
I must respectfully disagree with most of the opinions so far.
IMHO
MANSION CAT just wasn't funny to me. Let me cite only one example - couldn't they find poor old Spike even ONE gag? Looking in the window, ha-ha real funny...
The backgrounds and character designs were reminiscent of those used in HB's 1975 made for Saturday morning Tom & Jerry/Grape Ape show. Why is it that once HB left MGM they completely forgot how to draw a good looking Jerry? At least Chuck's designs were attractive!
I must admit that I did find Joe Barbera's stately line readings hilarious, knowing all the throat trauma he caused his voice talent over the years. I know, I know, he's an old man, but still...;)
I wasn't crazy about THE MAGIC RING, but it was way more entertaining than this turkey. Heck, CN's Tom & Jerry Show intro is better animated and funnier! All in all I'd put this one on a par with Deitch's T&J's.
Maybe I expected too much?:o

Nah, this cartoon isn't very funny. That's because it was made almost entirely by the people responsible for "The Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries ". Since 1995, they've been making cartoons that have good animation and great backgrounds but are only mildy amusing.
"The Mansion Cat" is also a prime example of how Time Warner nearly turned Hanna-Barbera into the "Old Warner Bros. Animator Rest Home". The other example is "Johnny Bravo". After "Pinky and the Brain" ended, a few of their directors got shipped off to H-B to revive CN's favorite Elvis impersonator. But, unlike Kirk Tingblad and Russel Calabrese, the "Sylvester and Tweety" guys got to go back home so's they could make two certain "Straight-to-Video" movies. I won't be surprised if I find their names on the new Scooby-Doo series WBA's makin' this fall.

I dont wanna toot my own horn but I can draw Tom and Jerry (especially Tom) much much MUCH better than anyone has since the old MGM days, to the extent that I'm able to duplicate Muse, Patterson, Barge and Spence's styles. I know a few of you saw my Tom and Jerry pics that I posted on my web site back around December. I'd love to design the model sheets or work on key character poses for whatever CN or WB decides to do with the characters next.
