InuYasha will make its U.S. debut on Cartoon Network on Saturday, August 31 during the Adult Swim Action programming block. The 52 episode series will premiere at 11 p.m. (ET, PT) on the 31st and will air Saturdays.
Kagome is a modern day young girl who lives with her family by the old Higure shrine. Unbeknownst to Kagome, she is the reincarnation of priestess Kikyo and possesses the "Jewel of Four Souls." One ill-fated day, Kagome locates an ancient well near her home and is abruptly transported through the well and into a feudal Japan, inhabited by demons and goblins. There, she encounters Inuyasha, son of a powerful demon father and a human mother, who is pinned to a tree by an enchanted arrow.
Kagome frees Inuyasha from the tree before she learns that all of the demons, including Inuyasha, are after the Jewel in her possession. To prevent the Jewel from being stolen, Kagome accidentally shoots it with the enchanted arrow, shattering it into thousands of pieces. Naraku, like Inuyasha a half-demon, seeks the pieces of the Jewel in order to become a pure demon. New allies Kagome and Inuyasha join forces with Shippo, a small fox-demon, Miroku, a fallen priest and Sango, the sole surviving demon-hunter, in order to combat Naraku and recover the fragments of the "Jewel of Four Souls."

They called Miroku a fallen priest?
They use Deliquient priest in the japanese version since his still a part of the Buddhist religion his just a crook and a pervert.

Well, technically "fallen" could mean he's fallen from what his dedication as a Buddhist priest means; you gotta love Americanization. But at least they're not calling demons "monsters" or "bad creatures" or anything lame like that. I can't wait for this show! And lucky me, 11pm means I get to watch it at 10pm (thank goodness for time zones!).
How will its 11pm airing affect the rest of the ASA schedule?

It means everything else gets pushed forward a half hour.
Thus:
11:00 PM - Inu Yasha
11:30 PM - Yu Yu Hakusho
12:00 PM - Cowboy Bebop
12:30 PM - Gundam 0083
1:00 AM - Mobile Suit Gundam
1:30 AM - Outlaw Star
No more Pilot Candidate!!!

Cool, I hope the dub voices are good (I'm used to the Japanese version). I also hope Adult Swim doesn't edit it too much

Wow, great news. Comes earlier than I expected, and gets whats IMHO the best timeslot for it. And PC is finally gone! :D The Toonami filler's slowly being phased out... :)

that annoys me, get rid of outlaw star. I haven't seen the last 2 episodes of PC. :(
Does that mean PC could get an airing on midnight run possibly now

CN hasn't updated their press grids, or the CN.com schedule. Are you sure they will drop PC instead of Outlaw Star?

I'm pretty sure PC is the first to go -- it's episodes wrap up before OLS, IIRC.

Besides a helluva lot more people like Outlaw Star instead of Pilot Candidate. And the least liked always gets the boot (which in some cases is pretty bad. :( Not in this one though. :p )

Viz is editing it? I dunno, Viz isn't exactly the brightest or "with the times" anime licensor around...I mean, they're still riding their 12 year old Ranma franchise (aside from distributing Pokemon tapes and DVDs).

Viz edited Classic Zoids and they let a whole lot of stuff slip by so they should do good with Inu Yasha.

PC getting knocked in the middle of its run... You can tell the guys behind Toonami are behind this block pretty easily nowadays.

Yeah they did an excellent job with Zoids: Chaotic Century. Inuyasha will hopefully have VERY little edited out.

As far as non-humans have gone, barbie doll nudity has been shown on TOONAMI. I believe barbie nudity was also permitted for Sailor Moon on one of the Sailor Moon movies, so I don't see anything that would really need to be edited at all. Maybe there will be some edits, I dunno, but I'm not sure.

Inu Yasha could pretty much run uncut. I don't think there are any bloody scenes that are of the same caliber of The Real Folk Blues.

Theirs more blood in episode 7 than in CB's entire run.
Also theirs so much blood in episode 15 you can drown yourself in it.
They clean it up somewhat in the latter half by showing decapitations off screen but its still quite bloody.

The Shinchinintai hasn't shown up in the anime and we don't know how bloody it will be, they could show all the decapitation off screen.

One thing I'd like to see is the English VAs tackle the name pronounciations. XD

They could, but since Sesshoumaru taking out those solders wasn't off-screen, they probably won't make the mercenary killings off screen either.....And besides, the deaths of the group members are pretty disgusting too.

UCK!I hate that opening theme,Part of it is just it's mixed HORRIBLY.It's an ok song but it's so damn loud.Anyway they did a US version but it's like ADV's versions where they just have a US guy sing it,sounds just like the original.
I pray the endings are left intact but with copyrights I doubt it.I'd love to hear Do as Infinity on US shores.

You can get the Change the World english version off of Kazaa im sure -- it seems to be a pretty well done translation but at one point I think I hear explosions or something and the voice gets harder to hear.
And Yes there is much more than 52 episodes... thats probably seasons 1 and 2? Im not really sure about the season breakdowns. I am currently up to Manga vol 24 but I believe there is up to vol 27 and its running strong in Japan, so I expect over 100 episodes until it stops.
Above the dub a Inu-yasha/Ranma and the other series by the authoress has a listing of the dubs... most seem to be from Ranma which was obvious and some others, Looks to be a strong cast.
IY is Id say one of the best shows out there and I do not like Ranma so it can appeal to anyone.

Hi Nexus! Just an FYI, talking about downloading anything through Kazaa or similar programs is a big no-no around here.

Not really. I have yet to see the anime version, but the mangas have the Shinchinintai members crumbling to skeletons when they die, and it's kinda disgusting. Also, out of the last four deaths, three have been pretty bloody. Shikon shards getting ripped out of their bodies is pretty nasty

The anime is WAY toned down. All the deaths are just shadows of them getting cut in half/arrows/the little brother nailing 'em with the weapon, etc.

Awwwwwwwwwwww, where's the fun in that?! Have they shown Jakotsu getting offed by Renkotsu yet? It better not be that cheesy.

put it in spoilers!
Their still on Rin being kidnapped. So they haven't started the shichinintai saga yet
stanteau
08-11-2002, 10:04 AM
Wait, you mean Rin the girl who follows Sesshomaru?Or are those 2 from Sango's family?I never memorized her family's name.
Charred Knight
08-11-2002, 11:39 AM
Yes Rin is the girl who follows Sesshoumaru, Kohaku is the brother of Sango.
Just checked the Japanese page they just finished with Rin. So their probably going to do the search for Naraku
and after the Monkey incident their will probably be a ton of filler episodes.
Mackenzie Rainelle
08-11-2002, 02:13 PM
Geez, you make everything so complicated...Fine, spoiler tags it is then:
Uhm....Why would they do filler for something like that? I mean, sure, it took 33 episodes for Rin to show up, die, be revived, and follow Sesshoumaru, but why would they put a bunch of nonsense filler in between the Monkey God incident and the appearance of Kyoukotsu of the Shinchinintai? The story's laid out that at the rate of the episodes, it would take at least two to cover the story of the three-tailed wolf and the scenes with the two priests
And I hope you're happy.

You people are blood-thirsty. Complaining that decapitations are not done in full gory detail, and that grisly deaths were toned down in the anime. You need to calm down and rid yourself of this desire for blood. :p

Do you know how long the Shicinintai Saga is?
Its over 3 Volumes long. They can't do filler during it so it will quickly catch up to the manga.

I don't mind the filler since it's usualy pretty interetsing in it's own right.
I'm kinda behind on the anime though,I just finished the fire cat saga.
