The classic Joker in ROTJ is considered by Timm as the best version they could provide. And I quite agree with him!

Was in the Killing Joke, tho I really loved the Joker from the animated series. I haven't had an opportunity to read any stories with the classic Joker, however, but if that's Bruce Timm's favorite, I am sure I would like them. The original is always hard to improve upon.

That's a hard decision. I would have to go with the animated series( TAS not TNBA). The second best I think is the Jack Nicholson Joker.

Wasn't the Adam West show screened in the 60's and the H and B Batman cartoon 70's? Or is this a different 80's cartoon I'm not aware of?
Not trying to be a smart arse, but if my dates are wrong I'd like to know before I quote them at someone who does!!!
:D :D :)

The Adam West series ran from 1966-1969. NOT in the seventies.

:D Oh, I thought it was 70s. I always thought everything was black and white in the 60s. Anyway, I mean the 80's batman, with BATMITE!

Oh they're all so much fun I don't think I can peg one as an overall favorite.

My personal favourite Joker would have to the Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. I love Mark Hamill's performance, how twisted he was in the movie and I really love that design as it's a good blend of the B:TAS and TNBA look (the purple suit with the green shirt) but with Joker's lips being black with a reddish shine.

The best animated Joker is the one who appeared in BTAS by far. It was the first time I really saw the Clown Prince of Crime as a truly dangerous and despicable creature. Mark Hamill's voice work was just icing on the cake!
It culminated with BB:ROTJ, since we got to see the horrific damage Joker inflicted on Tim Drake, not to mention the carnage caused by the space satellite weapon.
That Joker was a far cry from the version I'd grown up with - Caesar Romero - from the live action Batman series. I'll give Romero this much though - his depiction of Joker was one of the reasons I have developed a severe dislike of clowns!
Second place for animated Joker would go to the one depicted in "Under the Red Hood". John Dimaggio really made him sound creepy and sadistic.
The Joker from Young Justice wasn't bad but I wasn't adjusted to Brent Spiner as his VA. I think it would have been better to have used Dimaggio.
Despite his lauded appearance in the 1989 Batman movie, Jack Nicholson's Joker isn't anything new. It's just Jack being Jack. Practically all his roles are similar in that.

I rather liked the design in Justice League, which I think was the same as the flashback in the Beyond movie.
But I voted for BTAS, since that show WAS my childhood.

Wouldn't B:TAS and TNBA version of Joker count as the same since Mark Hamill voiced the character for the duration of the series and then some of the animated films?

The voice was the same, but the look changed. The TNBA version was slimmed down and lost the facial color:
