Went down to the local Movie Trading Company today and picked up 3 tapes for .50 cents each, all those cheap "public domain" toon tapes with 3 or 4 cartoons on them.
I was super thrilled when I picked one up and BOSCO was on the cover! "Bosco's Woodland Daze" it read! I was thrilled so I plunked down my $1.50 for the tapes and headed to my house....that's when it all went downhill.
First, I noticed that they had on the box that they had COLORIZED the cartoons, and added sounds. Ugh. So, anyway, it's Bosco, right? I put the tape in...the first "cartoon" up is "The Steadfast Tin Soldier"....which ISN"T A CARTOON!!!!
It's some 22 minute long musical play or something. ugh ugh. ok, big deal. Fast forward to Bosco, right? Next up is "Paris Picnic" which looks to be a Jay Ward toon (and isn't credited on the box!). That's fine and dandy...Bosco Bosco Bos....previews????
5 minutes of previews for more very bad cartoons. Ok, sure, NOW it's time for...
blank screen....
my day is totally shot.

If I were you, I'd march right back down to that store, and demand a refund!
The box said that Bosko was on the tape, and he wasn't. You should be entitled to a refund.
What tape distributor was it, BTW?

Wonderland Video....a company that went out of business in the 80's I believe...
The only other things I've ever seen them release were episodes of the Japanese superhero show SPECTREMAN, and they did ok with those...
I once bought a tape with Droopy on it ("Droopy and Friends"), but had Noveltoons on it. Three to be exact. I was happy with it, though, 'cause I love Buzzy the crow (even if the one cartoon with him appears twice on the same tape:rolleyes: )
But like Argus said, return the tape if you really hate it. I'd buy another one with the refund, or a candy bar with lots of sugar to calm my nerves.

At one time I owned that tape... it only had half of the Buzzy cartoon on it. The tape ran out just around the scene where Buzzy had the Jack Benny cat under the ladder ("Uh-oh... in da house with an open umbrella will make you a most unfortunate fella!". Great cartoon.).
I bought a public domain tape, dated 1986 (I believe), about a week or so ago with Bosko, Goopy Geer, and a few other early Harman-Ising characters on the cover. It was LP (tracking wasn't very good) and all the cartoons had that red tint to them. The most amusing thing was the title of the tape... "KARTOON KARTOONS"!!

After all, they did say "Bosco". The character is named Bosko. I heard on the Termite Terrace Board in the past that Bosco was something else entirely, but I forget what.
The woodland daze part makes the tape a ripoff, but the fake spelling should have been noticed.

Bosco was a chocolate milk mix.

Tim Ingles, an old member of the TTTP said a few years
back that he bought a video tape called "The Steadfast Tin Soldier" which didn't include that film - but "Bosko's Woodland Daze" and alot of other Boskos.
I think this is how he got started on collecting LT.

I thought Bosco was B.A.'s actual first name on the A-Team.

I have a tape with the re-drawn "Bosko's Woodland Daze" as well as one with "On Duty" (re-drawn Foxy). Would have to look up the tape titles. The lack of the original soundtracks is far more hideous than the re-drawing...
Actually, (for whatever it's worth) the spelling of Bosko was the INTENDED spelling but an early poster has it spelled clearly as BOSCO...
As for the "KARTOON KARTOONS" there were at least two (maybe even) three volumes of the goobers. Got 'em on a shelf in another room (bought at Walgreens long ago)

I love PD tapes... I'm constantly looking for ones with titles that I don't recognize.
I recently bought a whole bunch of used PD tapes at a pawnshop in Toronto for 50 cents each. Some highlights:
A Christmas themed tape that included "Snowman in July"... This is a very hard to see cartoon made in Germany during ww2, later dubbed into English with idiotic narration... The cartoon itself is quite good, with a kind of rambling, stream of consciousness storyline and an animation style quite different from anything being done in the US at the time.
On another Christmas themed tape, there was a cartoon with the title and credits in Russian... suddenly a voiceover comes on, saying "Made in Russia, 1959!"... The cartoons concerns a boy's efforts to deliver a christmas tree to his father at the North Pole.
I also got a "Dick and Larry" tape with four Van Beuren Tom & Jerry cartoons that I didn't have. The only tape that was useless to me was a 6 hour tape that appeared to have a lot of cartoons that I didn't have, but they turned out to all be "Mel-O-Toons"... Oh well, for 50 cents I'm not complaining...

I wonder if it has anything offensive towards Americans. Seriously.

No, Sveven, nothing really offensive about the cartoon at all, nor does it seem to have any hidden propaganda messages or subtext... If it did, of course, it would have been removed for the English version, which was made to be shown on kids' TV shows in the '50s...

Try flea markets, as well as stores like Dollar General and Family Dollar.
