For many, Labor Day is a brief respite from the rat race. For Tom, a spunky cat who is perpetually chasing after elusive rodent Jerry, it means a nationally-televised eight-hour exercise in humiliation during Cartoon Network's Tom & Jerry SLAM-FEST, which will air on Monday, September 2. From 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. (ET, PT) on Labor Day, Tom will pursue Jerry, and be left with nothing but a sore head and a grudging admiration for his prey.
The two tormentors, created by animation legends Bill Hanna and Joe
Barbera, pummel, punish and pester each other with reckless abandon.
The Tom & Jerry SLAM-FEST will include many of their classic clashes,
such as Oscar-winning shorts "Yankee Doodle Mouse," "Mouse Trouble,"
"Quiet Please," "The Cat Concerto," "The Little Orphan," and "Mouse
Cleaning."
Cartoon Network, currently seen in 81.1 million U.S. homes and 145
countries around the world, is Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.'s
24-hour, ad-supported cable service offering the best in animated
entertainment. Drawing from the world's largest cartoon library, Cartoon
Network also showcases unique original ventures such as The Powerpuff
Girls, Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Ed,
Edd n Eddy and other Cartoon Cartoons. Since its launch in 1992,
Cartoon Network has remained one of ad-supported cable's highest-rated
networks. Cartoon Network's Web site is located at
