Where do you like to go for fast food? My personal top five of places I love to eat at...
1) Dairy Queen. I go there all the time. I think their hamburgers are the best ever and I also think their french fries taste great.
2) Hardee's. Tho their service at the one I go to has really started to suck hard since they got a new manager, I love their monster burger. And that monster breakfast sandwhich they have now is the best anybody is serving for breakfast.
3) Burger King. Good burgers, good fries.
4) Arbys. Sometimes you want something different.
5) KFC. Best chicken in town!

Burger King:Best burgers.
McDonalds:Best fries.
KFC:Best chicken.
Wendy's:Best frosties
Fuddruckers has the best of everything, but i don't think they're considered "fast food".
I'd rather eat at a Korean/Chinese restaraunt instead.

Burger King has yucky fries.
Also, I would say McDonald's is my favorite.

There's this burger chain that's only in LA called "In and Out Burger." They have the best burger's I've ever had at a fast food joint. Though the food isn't especially fast.
As far as national; For me, nothing comes close to "Taco Bell." I ate there all the time in high school. My lactose intolorence has worsened since then and I don't eat dairy. So, Toco Bell's been out for a while. What's a seven layer burrito without cheese and sour cream? A five layer burrito. And who wants to eat that?!
Burger King's have seemed to be going down hill the past few years. Now McDonalds is WAY better. Jack In the Box is on par with them, in my opinion.
If Pizza Hut Pizza counts asfast food, and I think it should, they're contenders for the top spot.
Wendy's is good in theory but I've never had a really good meal there, ever.
Panda Express has good chicken dishes, but their rice and noodle are just ok, not good. Though I like that they put a lot of egg and green onion in their fried rice, it's too greasey.
Final verdict: Taco Bell. Try a bean Burrito with green sauce and tomato's. ;)

There's a Taco Bell half a block from my apartment that I've gotten slightly addicted to. I get a kick out of their 7-layer burrito... mmmm, gloppy. Though their cheesy gordita crunch is better. It's essentially a hard taco wrapped in a gordita shell, with melted cheese used as an adhesive... good lord, that's good stuff.
KFC is good, but Popeye's is slightly better. Their spices have a bit of a New Orleans kick to it, and I dig their cajun rice.
Too bad I live in Germany, our fast food restaurants are mainly McD's. There aren't many Pizza Hut, KFC or Burger King restaurants in my local area, but Mc Donalds is everywhere.
When I'm in the US my fav fast food restaurants are KFC and Burger King. I think BK is a lot better than McD. I also love Pizza Hut but I really dislike Taco Bell because I hate Mexican food.

Mmmmmm...I'm hungry for In-n-Out! Arrrgh!
Carl's Jr has fried zucchini. Otherwise, there's no reason to go there.
Arby's for roast beef with horseradish sauce. Long John's for deep fried fish with tartar sauce and malt vinegar. Burger King for a quick, cheap burger. Colonel Sanders for chicken. But these are only occasional; I've got a good Greek gyros place and a New York-style pizza parlor nearby that I prefer. I don't ever eat no chain pizza no mo'.

Taco Bell has to be the best fast food place ever... I really don't like any of the burger places too much, unless they make good chicken sandwiches.
I've haven't eaten at too many real Mexican places, so if I went to one I'd probably be dissapointed because it doesn't taste like Taco bell. :)

Yes, McDonalds is the best for me. Very good fries, and yeah, I like a quarter pounder with cheese...
Still, I am a burger fanatic, and all fast food places make good burgers too me!:D Dairy Queen's burgers need to be bigger, though...:(
Burgerkings burgers are the best
MacD's fries make me drool!
KFC for those days you just dont feel like burgers!
I like Taco Bells soft wraps but that's it!. Being dragged into my "new" family here in the US and they are all mexican...I hate mexican food!!! how terrible is that!! I WANT NORMAL FOOD!!!

I just don't care for the majority of McDonald's hamburgers. It's all the onions and pickles they feel the need to slop on there. Yeah, I could special order it with out it but I just think there are better tasting hamburgers out there. The Monster Burger from Hardees, for example! But since my local Hardees is slipping, and slipping fast, I find myself going to McDonald's cuz it's close. I can say they feed you well for your money. And their fries are good.

Taco Bell and El Acapulco for Mexican...Great Wall or Kowloon's for Chinese...for chicken, KFC, natch....McDonald's makes a bloody good BBQ rib sandwich and a fair burger, but for my money the best burger (that didn't come out of my own kitchen) that I've ever had was in the caf at Arkansas State University. They also made a great taco pie that I have yet to master--layered and perfect. Mine always comes out looking gloppy and disordered.... :(

I don't like fast food very much anymore. I like BK's burgers the best, but I never eat there.
Back in NM there was a local fast food chain called Burger Time that had awesome Mexican food. But I've boasted about our local Mexican cuisine too often on these boards. . .;)

Oh, I can never remember it, or I would put in the Simpson's Quote Quiz. Does anyone remember the words for the "Good Morning Burger" ad, that left Homer almost comatose with desire?
The Little Ceasars here closed down too (I was told it was for health reasons:confused: ) My other favorite pizza places are Papa John's, Pizza Hut, and Donoto's.
I think the fries at Wendy's are the best, eccept they don't put enough salt on them. I used to like Burger King, until I kept finding things in my food...

Yeah, but try out any non-fast food restaurant in Delaware. Real food DOES exist in other places.
Fav chewing gum? Hm. I just say any regular flavor is good for me. Does not matter who made it.
For Fried Chicken, I go to Hardee's. It's very good. For pizza, it's a little Delaware-based business called GROTTO PIZZA! BEST pizza on the planet! Try it out if you're in Delaware U.S.A.!

There are White Castles nation wide, but usually in metro areas, and then they are few and far between. You really have to go out of your way for them, but it's worth it!
For pizza, I prefer Papa John's myself, tho that Twisted Crust breadstick pizza Pizza Hut has is to die for. And when you eat it with ranch dressing???? OH, GLORY TO GOD, who ever put ranch and pizza together deserves saint hood, tho my arteries harden up just a little more at the mere thought of it!
In Minnesota, Godfather's pizza was the main place for pizza, and I really do think they are the best, but in Kansas City, they are small potatoes. Dominoes is good, but they stopped making their bacon cheese burger pizza, which has upset me to no end. I have yet to order pizza since I found that out, it left me so upset. That was the best pizza I ever had.

White Castle's pretty old - founded in the '20s. Same family owns every one and they don't like to expand. They're famous for their tiny little square patties with five holes in them (square to completely cover the grillspace with the max number of patties, the holes allow the patty to cook without flipping it). Covered in grease and onion juice, they're called sliders, because you hardly have to chew them to make them go down. Supposed to be fantastic. Never had one.
Buttered crust? Hie thee to a true New York pizza place, and get marvelous crispy crust. A real good place will drizzle olive oil on the crust. Chicago deep dish is good eatin', too. Don't eat no chain pizza!

They are scattered over Minneapolis and St Paul quite well, I've seen three down here in Kansas City, tho I understand the one closest to me closed down, damn it to all! They are in St Louis, and in Arizona. Most people I know don't like them, but in Minnesota where I lived, people had a taste for the things like mad. Must be more of a regional thing.

The hamburgers at McDonalds are good, I guess, if you like pickles and onions. I am not a fan of either, so I don't want them on the hamburger. And without them, there just isn't much there to write home about. But they sure do give me a whole lot more fries with my order than Hardees or Dairy Queen or Burger King. This topic came up on the pop thread, so I am continuing it here since it's more "on topic" here....do any of you have fast food horror stories?
I have had friends who have worked for fast food places and will tell me the bad things they did to customers who ticked them off. It's pretty simple, you treat them right, they will treat you right. And I tell you what ticks them off more than ever is when you go to the drive thru at the LAST MINUTE and place a big order. You better be ready to inspect your food before you eat it!
So, let the stories begin! I am sure with all the posters we have here, we must have a good share of good stories!

--suitable for mixed company?
My brother had a great one about a disgruntled Taco Bell employee in Memphis who..well...did #2 into a batch of meat batter. Six people got sick. As one of my exes also worked for Taco Bell as a real-estate consultant (and to this day I have no idea what her job entailed) in CA, I had him tell her this story, and she was very amused by it.
Snopes has any number of stories about tainted fast food, from chicken patties to milkshakes to Chinese takeout. Enough to make the most stalwart soul paranoid about who's handling his lunch.
Someone once told me that bacon takes 4 days to go through a person's system. Any thoughts on that?
BourgeoisBuffoon
08-18-2001, 03:57 PM
Bacon takes 4 days? Oh, all the foods I love to eat do even more bad things for my body than I thought! Oh, well....I only eat it sparingly. But considering all the fat and grease in it, that isn't surprising.
I'm never going to eat at Taco Bell now that I heard BELCH'S story....(shudders)
Sorry, all my encounters with fast-food employees have been good...but if I have my mother around, she WILL find something to complain about...so from now on, I'll take a good look at my food, because mother has seriously cheesed off more than a few employees....even to the point of getting them fired...

Hey, Kylewayne, I got a good story for you then. I worked in the food industry for a good number of years (grocery store) and met my share of people who worked in the plants where our food comes from. This one guy who delivered pizzas for Red Baron said that he would never eat those pizzas again, or if he did he would pick the ones with the A or B on the box in the code, cuz those were made by the morning shift and clean people worked on the morning shift. But the other shifts? People were not allowed any tobacco products in the plant, so it was not uncommon for a man to spit his chew out into one of the meat vats to avoid being caught by a floor supervisor. Keep that in mind next time you order meat on your pizza. I stick with cheese pizza, personally.
BourgeoisBuffoon

So all that tobacco is what made pizza addictive? :p
In all seriousness, sorry for that cruel joke, but I cannot believe that food could be soiled like this...it makes you shudder.

There are reports available from the FDA if you want to be paranoid. These are reports that specify how much bug eggs they will allow in food, for example. The worst food for bug parts? Peanut butter. The bugs, literally, come in with the peanuts and they don't have time to separate the bugs from the peanuts when they come in from the farm like that, so the bugs get ground up with the peanut butter. You eat peanut butter, you eat bugs. And this knowlege does not keep me away from peanut butter, or other foods, cuz for one there are many, many people, probably larger than the population of America, who eat bugs and live and are strong and healthy, and also because there is nothing I can do about it anyway. Tho I can avoid a fast food restaraunt if I know they are putting cleaning fluids in with their sauces.

The topic is pretty pathetic, huh? Oh well. Those are the discussions I like best! BTW, never saw a working 'Red Barn' joint, sorry.
Mmm....leftovers. The food of kings...

You know Kylewayne, if you REALLY knew what went into all the food you eat, even the stuff you get from the market for your home cooking, you'd stop eating all together, not just pizza! It's like the knowlege there are more bugs in peanut butter than anyother food. It's like out of sight is out of mind. There are somethings you can control, like avoiding a fast food restaraunt that you know is unclean, but unless you do the Good Neighbors thing, you're gonna have to take some chances!
Getting back to something I meant to reply to earlier...Little Ceasers....seems like everytime I hear about them, it's not good. In Rochester, MN, they closed down the Little Ceasers there because they discovered they were using dog food in the meat.

I used to love the nearest Wendys until it was closed down. Here in the UK we don't have many Wendys, so now I'm Wendy-less. Woe is me...

LOL! No I'm not. I just wanted to see if people knew what it was, and so far I guess not many people do.

Hey! Don't leave us in the dark... what's poutine? Is it like Ovaltine, only poutier?
As long as we're talking about obscure foods, who here digs Nutella?

As I recall, poutine is a Quebecois specialty consisting of French fries with gravy on them.

Poutine is a french fries with gravy and cheese. It's only served in Quebec. But it's so deliscious!

I know what nutella is but I have never had it
Perogies are also VERY GOOD. I wish more restaurants and fast food places served them or offered them as an alternative to the fries or baked potato choice you usually get. They are kinda best described as mashed potatoes in a dough...I don't know else how to describe them. They can be found in your grocer's freezer, and are awesome fried. And with sour cream.

MY KINDA PEOPLE. MY KINDA PLACE. THERE'S SOMETHING SPECIAL ABOUT THIS PLACE, GOT NO REASON...TO STRAY TOO FAR, CAUSE IT'S ALL RIGHT HERE IN MY OWN BACK YARD!!!
THIS IS A BURGER KING TOWN! IT'S MADE JUST FOR ME! THIS IS A BURGER KING TOWN! WE KNOW HOW BURGERS SHOULD BE!
RIGHT UP THE ROAD, LEFT AT THE SIGN, MY WAY, YOUR WAY ONE AT A TIME, HOT OFF THE FIRE. WITH ANYTHING ON IT! AND DON'T IT FEEL GOOD WHEN IT'S JUST HOW YOU WANT IT?

-a jingle for Burger King (MY ALL TIME FAVORITE FAST FOOD RESTARAUNT) from around 1986.

At first I thought you were yelling at us! All caps can be kinda hard to take when you see it at first, but then I saw it was song lyrics so I understood! :)
You know, I am really impressed. You remember a commercial jingle so well from 15 years ago? That's imprssive indeed!
Anybody remember when Burger King had like bus boys? For a time, the Burger Kings had people who bused tables and would help people find places to sit. Kinda made it feel more like a formal resturant but it wasn't right. Needless to say, their experiment didn't last long.

I've got some stories about what goes on in grocery stores, but I think you all want to keep eating, so I'll just say shop only at stores and eat only at restaraunts where the people appear to bath, shower, and/or wash their hands. We've got these couple of REALLY dirty people in our store and I tend to keep from buying the stuff they handle...

If you do shop in those stores, buy only canned and other prepackaged goods that they get from a warehouse. For the love of GOD, say away from their meat and deli counters! I know what he's talking about!
I do have to say that I worked at grocery stores, three of them, and I would buy fresh meat and deli from all of them. But I know of stores that I could not say the same about. You gotta find meat cutters who take pride in their job.

Actually, I remembered those lyrics because it is on a tape we recorded back then (not only my favorite jingle and fast food place, but also one of my favorite commercials). But, still, I havent watched THAT in about a year, anyway, but I guess i just saw it enough times.

It's amazing the things that get stuck in our memories! I still remember commercial slogans from commercials when I was a kid. And "catch" phrases. Jingles are designed to be catchy and to stick in your head for years to come. But that would almost be a whole nother thread to talk about all of those!
