The Newsarama (http://161.58.84.234/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=000052) reports:
As previously reported by Newsarama.com, renown manga artist Kia Asamiya will join the art team of Marvel’s Uncanny X-Men later this year. The publisher has provided four preview images of Asamiya’s vision for the mutants.
From Marvel’s Bill Rosemann: “Continuing our campaign to reach out to the industry's most talented and innovative talents, Marvel has drafted Japanese superstar Kia Asamiya to become the co-penciler - switching off storyarcs with Ron Garney of Uncanny X-Men. You'll have to wait until December to see his debut issue, but thanks to the efforts of the editorial team of Mike Marts and Mike Raicht, you can feast your eyes on Kia's full-color character designs right now!”

Thanks Green-Ghost for the pictures. I like how Iceman and Northstar but Angel's face and wings seem wierd and I don't like the Nightcrawler he can be done so much better like in the icon mini-series, oh well still alot better then I could do...

Why is Asamiya drawing like an American trying to draw with a manga style? I was never a big fan of his, but at least his style was clean and kind of unique when he was doing books like Shadow Lady. Now his style doesn't look much different from the typical pseudo-manga-like X-Men artist.

Oh well.

Gah. The whole manga-style art is part of what drove me away from the X-books in the first place years ago. This certainly doesn't do anything to make me want to start up again.

Yeah. I noticed these in the current issue of Wizard, I do believe. Something striked me as odd, though. It seems that Juggernaut is a member of the X-Men now, or at least that's what I assumed from the article.

Can someone explain to me why? I mean, his whole thing was that he wanted to kill Professor Xavier, so why does he work with him, much less Professor X let him on the team?

The art is OK. Not much to my liking. It just seems very unorthadox. Like they just gave no effort to the works. Kinda makes me glad I gave up on the main X-Men books.

What's disappointing is that he's adopted some of the stylized proportions most known in low-grade pseudo manga art style. At least he showed more restraint and taste in his older, Japanese works. But ever since he came to do stuff for American comics, his style slowly devolved into the typical style you see in most Marvel comics now.

His art in Silent Mobius looks like Michaelangelo now...

I never liked Asamiya's style. I think he's pretty overated as a manga author/artist (Steam Detecives...ugh). Why does Marvel keep trying to leech of the success of the "anime style"? They should do their own thing. At least they have the real thing now, and not just another imitator (not that you can tell the difference, art wise).
