The regular crappy version of Pear Harbor will be released on Dec. 4th in a 2 disc set, but for everyone who hated the movie, a better version is coming! Micheal Bay will be releasing a revised version of the film an an elaborate 3 disc set on Jan. 4th 2002. It will 5 minute slonger, be more violent, bloody, more swear words, more realism. The mega plus is that is will MAJORLY play down the romantic angle that totally ruined the film. In place of that will be butt shots of Kate Beckinsale (which personally I can live with :)) Micheal Bay has been unsuccessfully trying to get Disney to release the 'better' version of the movie on Friday December 7th, but so far a no go. Disney originally wanted a TITANIC-esque love story, but now Bay wants to re-edit it "for the men".
SOunds good.

OMG, no way! Are you kidding DG? If you're kidding, you're evil! (j/k)
I think that'd be awesome. Pearl Harbor was a bit of a disappointment for me (and maybe more for others), but I did enjoy the action and the special effects. If he did release a "man's" version of PH, I'd be the first to buy it. (It'd be just like Armageddon - which I thought rocked - no love story, just constant action)

Can we get a more grim and violent Titanic where Leonard dies at the beginning instead so we don't have to suffer his face for the length of the movie?

I saw Leo should be taken down by sharks. And the "Man friendly" PH will be released Jan. 15th. Micheal Bay is trying to get the movie released into theares in the new version, the version he approved. Disney sevely changed the movie to make it appeal to the ladies and the TITANIC crowd. If this new version of PH is put into theatres, I may actually see it.

Manly version..that sounds alot better than romantic crap. Maybe it'll stay truer to the REAL Pearl Harbor then?
So it's Disney's fault for making it a flop...that's great...Disney needs to learn....

I do like the sound of this but won't putting out two completely different versions of the movie confuse people?

Well, that is what the movie companies are about, aren't they!

I'm not suprised, or confused, bu this. DIRECTOR'S CUT of movies happen all the time, and sometimes for the better (ALIENS)

Director's cut, yes, but it sounds to me like they are completely re doing the movie, with major revisions. Not that I am complaining! I want to see Pearl Harbor as a great war movie, like Enemy at the Gates, and not some sappy love story for the chick crowd!

The changes will definatly be for the better. Any improvement on the movie will make it better.

Yeah, it should happen at the very begining of the movie.:) Or maybe Batman should appaer and say "For the love of all that is good and holy, you mush die Leo." Then Batman use's the most painful weapon he has to kill Leo. HAHAHAHA!! DIE, LEO, DIE......................I need to stop drinking all that soda before I post.:D

Hrrrrrmmm... I've heard the sappy love bits were the worst parts of the movie. I'd be sorely tempted to watch it if that were reduced. I'm sure it would still be fairly brainless and cliche, but damn I want to see that bomb's-eye-view shot I've heard about.

Maybe Batman has Anti-Leonardo DiCaprio Repelent Spray. As for the revised PH, I think the changes will make it less cliched and brainless, but not buy much. They're still gonna leave in all thecliche dlines that Affleck and Harnett spurt out at an alarming rate.

The digitalization of movies is giving us amazing abilities. Don't think the movie did good at the box office? Rework it all on the computer until you come up with a version you think WILL do well! This could open up a whole new flood gate of box office flops getting re cut and re edited to make the movie more appealing for home video release.

It's already being done. Many movies are being released "WITH NEW FOOTAGE" or new scenes or whatever. It's been happening. Now it's being touched up a notch.

"WITH NEW FOOTAGE" or new scenes or whatever.
I think that sometime's the new footage is very little, and is just used as a way to help bring people back to the movie. So the movie can get a high gross.
but only Sometimes.............

Touched up a notch? Sounds like a whole different movie to me. Again, NOT that I am complaining! I have no problem with this whatsoever. My only complaint is that we got a watered down version of a great movie for the Memorial Day weekend. That was the biggest mistake.

I will be waiting and picking up the 3 disc set, but I'm sorry to say that I find it hard to believe that 5 minutes will down play the entire romantic angle that was clearly the strong point in this 3 hour plus monster. I just don't know.

It'll play down but not eliminate the angle. It'll just make it less annoying. I'll be getting the Jan. 15th version.

Sounds like a good DVD set, but wouldn't it've been nice to see Disney put bonus cartoons on the disc? I would've loved to see "Victory Through Air Power", "Der Fuehrer's Face", "Education for Death", "Reason and Emotion", and "Commando Duck" on the set.

Did you see the petition for this over at animatonondvd.com? This would be an awesome bonus feature on the DVD, and on a three disc set, there is plenty of room!

It would've been cool to insert those cartoons. Who knows, maybe the specs'll change up a bit before then.

No, they'd never do it. The people in charge of Disney home video are morons. Disney himself must be turning in his grave over these pointless edits. Disney would be probably still alive today if he didn't.... Wait, how did the guy die any way? I've always been told he smoked too much.......

I loved both Titanic and Pearl Harbor. I don't understand why so many people hate them. :)
