And as soon as I return, the board shuts down!! :(

Had computer woes and went off to New Orleans for vacation. Glad to be back online!

Welcome back!
How was New Orleans? I've always wanted to check out their cemetaries. I read somewhere they lay their dead to rest in mausoleums because the groundwater is so close to the surface, so they wouldn't be able to bury them very deep. If they did, the coffins would come back up to the surface....*ahem*

The cemetaries, like New Orleans, were for the most part dirty and falling apart! Some of the older crypts were just piles of broken up marble and bricks. A famous voodoo queen is supposed to be buried in one of them, but we couldn't find her. There was an inverted pentagram in the decorative wrought iron around one mausoleum, which we didn't notice until we looked at our tape of the trip, but it wasn't related. Besides, voodoo isn't Satanism. There were some lovely angle statues around some of the tombs. We took some pics of them.

Crazy8s!! I've been wondering where you've been! We were getting worried! It's not cool to have one of our favorite vets leave the boards, but it IS cool to see them come back! Welcome home! :)

Hey there! I'm a newbie to the board, and I always try to post hello in a welcome back topic. Sorry to hear about New 'Awlins, I thought it would be a prettier city....

We were all newbies once!

New Orleans was an odd mix of lovely wrought iron and cascading plants and dirty, delapidated buildings. All on the same streets! It's an interesting place, but the French quarter is far too commercial to be enjoyable. It was one big tourist trap--and woefully lacking in toilet facilities!

I'll never forget that you were the one who introduced me to the World's Finest Board all those months ago. I am in your debt.

Yeah, it's even worse during Mardi Gras, which I won't return to, it's way to crowded. You can't go 20 feet without someone selling alcohol, then you can't find a bathroom to save your life, or pants, I guess. It's a public health hazard cause people just go in the street. I wish they'd make it where if you're selling drinks, you've gotta have a public toilet.

I got lost when I went there one night. You better believe that Interview With a Vampire was going through my head as I walked through that town at 4 a.m.

Anyway, I welcomed you back in another post, but I'll do it again. Welcome Back!
