Since trivia contests occassionally pop up on the site with no prizes to the winners, here's one at Jerry's site where you can win the new Rhino 2 CD tribute to Carl Stalling and other Warner Bros. cartoon musical directors:
Cartoon Research -- Trivia Contest (http://www.cartoonresearch.com/news.html)
Apparently, the contest won't start until Thursday, and I'm guessing the questions should be fairly tough to avoid having a bunch of posters from this site end up in a tie-breaker.

The contest starts today (Wednesday). Each day I'll post 5 questions - the first 5 correct entries I receive win. I'm not trying to have tough questions, because this is essentially a give-away. Rhino gave me a bunch of "product" and I'd love to hand it out to real hard-core cartoon fans. I hope all the winners are the regulars on this message board!
Check it out - and I look forward to your feedback on the THAT'S ALL FOLKS CD set - It'll be on-sale next week.

I went to the site, and the questions are still xxxx-ed out. What's wrong?
The questions stayed XXXX for me until 11:07, maybe clearing out my catch and history helped. I'm probably too late anyway, and there's always tomorrow.

I got the questions and answered them. I am 100% positive I answered all but one correctly...it's just whether or not the other question was correct and I got it in time. Oh well, there's always tomorrow! I just had to guess on the "Sandy Claws" question....it can be only one of two answers.
-Matthew
I guessed on Sandy Clause too.

Looks like Thad won! Good job Thad!:)
I'll have to try to be on a computer tomorrow when he reveals the new questions.

I was the fifth guy there. Granted, I won't be getting "That's All Folks!" (I'll still get it), but it's nice to win something.

Congrats to you too, Lonestarr! I was wondering if any of those other names were board regulars. If anyone else here won, speak up!
I hope you enjoy your prize!
Well, I entered the contest and had all five answers correct, but unfortunately, I had the questions wrong. For some reason, I thought the third question was regarding McKimson's first cartoon, not Clampett's. Oh, well, like the song from the old Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer special says, "There's always tomorrow, for dreams to come true ....":)
Nonetheless, congrats, Thad, on winning the contest today! Nice to see it go to a TTTP regular.

The contest's time-frame gives unfair preference to unemployed people or employed people who are fooling around on the Internet when they should be working.:p :D   ;) :o :p ;) :D    :o :( :) :D ;)

OOh Oh, fill in the blank! That's always fun! I say "fruit," like cherries. Chocolate has too many letters...

Well, I don't know who else won yet, but yours truly just won! Haha! Guess luck was on my side today. I can't WAIT to hear that....if I can get my portable CD player fixed. It got a glass of water spilled on it and now the disc won't turn :(

Congradulation Matthew! I guess I'll try again tomorrow.

Good job Matthew! I tried to answer from work, but didn't even try since I definitely don't know some of those. That'll probably be the case for tomorrow too.
It's nice to hear that so many people from this board are winning!

Like Matthew & Greg, I received an e-mail from Jerry saying I wss a winner in today's contest (I'm the fourth one listed in Thursday's results). I'm anxious to see what I've won.
Congrats to all the other winners herw!
GOOD LUCK to eveyone tomorrow!

Good job PlopKat and laugh4me! You done the TTTP proud!:D
Congrats, Matthew, Greg, and PlopKat (close friends get to call him P.K.)! I notice, Matthew, that you got your answers in at 9:03 PST, a mere three minutes after the questions were posted. You really know your stuff! I had a pretty good idea "Sugar and Spies" was McKimson's Road Runner, but had to double check quick. And I stumbled a bit over the Ralph Phillips question. As a result, I had the right answers, but didn't get them in until 9:11, and didn't crack the top five. As Maxwell Smart would say, Missed it by that much!
One day left in the contest. I hope some more TTTP regulars win prizes! This has been an exciting last couple of days!

With this antique computer, my unusual ever changing schedule, it'll be hard for me to get in my answers in time, much less get in the right answers.

So, how many TTTP members made the winner's list today (Friday)?
The name I recognized was Jack, he was in fourth place today. There could have been others who post under different names here, though.

Good job Jack! I tried but submitted about 3 min. too late. I probably didn't deserve it though since I blanked on all of them and had to look them up:D I should've known some of those but as I've said before I am very bad with titles which hindered me quite a bit. I'm sure the guys who won deserved it much more than me.
Let us know how you guys like your presents! I am very interested in hearing about That's All Folks.
I read about your 9:01 answer today Thad!
Excellent work! Showoff! ;)

Yayyyyy!!!!
Congrats Jack (and Thad, even though it didn't count )! I got lucky and came in the bonus sixth place today!! The 'Whoa Be Gone' question was the killer that ate up my time.
I'll definately be buying the 'That's All Folks' CD on import the first opportunity I get. It sounds wonderful after reading that track listing on the other thread
Take care
Jamie B (trying not to lurk so much!)
P.S. Eeeek, sorry Joe!!! I feel guilty that I got in so few minutes ahead of you now! Thanks for the welcome by the way!
Congrats to you too, Jamie! I'll definately look for "That's All Folks!" in stores too. I wonder what I'll get.
The "Whoa Be Gone" question also ate up a lot of my time, then I accidentaly pressed the "back button" in the excitement. When I pressed the "forward button" to get back to my e-mail, the whole thing was erased. I then frantically retyped my answers, went to get Jerry Beck's e-mail address again and sent the thing off...
I now have a craving to watch "Dime to Retire" again...

I had a similar inability to type yesterday, Jack (and an inability to get the right answers, but hey..), so I opened my email account extra early and set up a template email today, thank goodness!:D

That's okay Jaime, there were probably a few other people who submitted in between you and me. Besides, I probably don't need any other CDs other than That's All Folks...which I didn't really have a shot at anyways. I should have been better at my research too. The better guy won, IMO:)
Congrats to Jaime and everyone else!

Congatst to everyone who won. Wow, 9:01AM? Sheesh, am I fast. As I told Jerry, I was only doing it to see how fast I could do it, since I already one the grand prize.

Whew. I think I misread what Jerry Beck had written about you, I thought you were disqualified all together for re-entering today!
We need to have more fun contests like these!

I agree that we should have more contests like this; now, if only there were more great CDs to give away.
I felt kinda guilty for entering Thursday, and, if you accept my apology, I'm sorry. Today's quiz was the most difficult. I only knew two of the five questions. I can't wait for my prizes to arrive in the mail.

Here is the exact e-mail I got from Jerry:
Thad - you are amazing!
You are disqualified from extra winnings, but I will note you were the FIRST with the correct answers today.
Jerry would never do something that mean. As I said, I just did it for fun.
-Thad:D
Yeah, I thought a move like that would have been really out of character for Jerry Beck.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. The contest was fun - but from my point of view a lot of extra work!
I want to hear from Thad & Matthew on what they think of THAT'S ALL FOLKS!
I just got the prizes today from Rhino and the winners were mailed today (U.S. Post Office). The book and CD are amazing - this is really a must-have. One thing I don't think I've ever mentioned is that the CD has the entire track from BOOK REVUE - but note, it is from the original Looney Tune (not the BLUE RIBBON version), thus has the introductory music over the opening credits that you've never heard before. The quality of the sound is astounding.
Ok, I'll shut up, but I think Thad & Matthew will agree.
That's all, Folks!

Oh wow! Wow! I've just gotta buy this CD. I was going to anyway, but this just cinches the deal. The original opening music! Amazing!
I remember about 10 years ago or so when I picked up a copy of "Bugs Bunny on Broadway." On that tape was the complete soundtrack to "Lone Haired Hare." Up until that point, I had only seen the edited version on ABC. So hearing the uncut version was very strange and exciting!
I can't wait for this CD!
Mike
