Hi everyone! I recently finished this great game, and I was interested to see what other people thought of it; so I decided to put up this talkback thread since this board wasn’t around when the game was released. So, if you’ve played this game before, please tell me what you thought about it. :)
This was the first Zelda game I’d ever played, and I’m a huge fan of Zelda already! It was so good that I don't even know where to begin. Let's see . . . first off, the graphics and the cut-scenes were terrific. They were definitely some of the best I’ve seen. And as for the story, it kept me interested from the beginning to the end.
Another good thing about this game is that it’s impossible to get bored. There are dozens of others things you could do besides the mission at hand. For example, you could play a game of Bombchu Bowling or maybe go hunt for Gold Skulltullas. The list is almost endless.
This game was full of surprises. I thought for sure that Ganandorf was dead at the end of the fight. Was I ever surprised when he turned into Ganon! And when Sheik revealed “he” was Zelda, that was another great surprise!
And the final scene when Link’s face to face with Zelda really makes me curious to find out what he says to her. I have some guesses. Hopefully, I’ll find out if any are right in the sequel, Majora’s Mask.
This is without a doubt my favorite game of all-time. Everything was good about it—the graphics, story, music, minigames . . . EVERYTHING! It definitely gets a five star rating from me.
It was a great game. It's been a few years since I played it, but the memories are still pretty fresh. If you liked Ocarina of Time, I definitely suggest you tackle Majora's Mask next.
If you have access to a Super Nintendo, I insist you try Link to the Past. It is by far the finest game in the Zelda series, with Gameboy's Link's Awakening a close second. Heck, I recommend playing all the games in the series! Ocarina of Time did a good job of incorporating all of the postive things from the entire series into one game, without making it feel like a rehash. It was and still is a masterpiece of console gaming.
Here's to the further adventures of Link! :)

I gave it 4.5 stars because of that stupid water temple. No one level should be so difficult that it detracts from any fun factor that the game originally had.
Majora's Mask is definitely a great supplement to Ocarina of Time. Go get it now!

If I remember right, I don't think anything like that is mentioned in Majora's Mask. The only time Zelda appears is as a cameo in a flashback of Link's. All they do is say good-bye and Zelda gives Link the Ocarina of Time.

I love the game! BTW, what ever happend to Saria in the game? Am I the only one who thought she was cute? And what happens at the end of the game just curious. You can e-mail me at Angrybeavers13@aol.com if you don't want to post it here and let others see it.

In the end, Link returns the Master Sword to undo all the problems that happened and let life flow as it should have, and to protect the people of Hyrule.
Link to the Past is by far the best Zelda game. Either get it for the SNES or the Game Boy Advance in December.

I own a Super Nintendo. Hopefully, I be able to find Link to the Past somewhere. :) I've heard a lot of good things about it. Is it possible it's even better than Ocarina of Time? BTW, do you know if this was the only Zelda game for the SNES? I know that there were some on the NES, but I don't know much about Zelda's history on the Super Nintendo.

I agree, the Water Temple was a difficult level, but I thought it had some fun parts.
I rented Majora's Mask after I finished Ocarina of Time to see how I liked it before I actually bought it. I thought the reason they didn’t mention anything from Ocarina of Time was because I didn’t get far enough into the game, but I guess that wasn’t the case. What a disappointment. :(
And about Majora's Mask. From what I saw, I wasn't too impressed with it. Here are a few reasons why:
1. You hardly get to play as Link. You're usually a different character like a Deku Scrub or a Goron.
2. They used some of the character models from Ocarina of Time, but they weren't even the same people! Take Malon, the ranch girl from Ocarina of Time, for example. They used the same model in Majora’s Mask, but her name was Romania!
3. You only have three days. That doesn't give you as much time to explore the levels or play minigames like you could in Ocarina of Time. And if you want to save when you’re running out of time, you have to start all over again on the first day! It seems like all of your accomplishments were a waste of time.
Maybe it’s gets better as you go along, but I just wasn’t as interested in it as I was in Ocarina of Time.

Here's the complete list of games in the Legend of Zelda series:
- Legend Of Zelda (NES)
- Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (NES)
- A Link to The Past (SNES)
- Link's Awakening (GB)
- Ocarina of Time (N64)
- Majora's Mask (N64)
- Oracle of Ages/Seasons (GBC)
- Legend of Zelda - Untitled (Gamecube-coming soon)
Link to the Past is also coming soon to Gameboy Advance. At first glance it might not seem all that impressive, compared to today's games. But once you get involved, the story and puzzles will totally sweep you away. I played the game again after completing the N64 versions, and I still think it's the best. You shouldn't be disappointed by any of the games in the series. :)

5 stars all the way.
One of the best games to grace a system with many a great game. Classic adventure with the greatest videogame character off all time. :)
BTW, as for MM, once you learn how the changing masks deal works, you actually do spend alot of time as Link, but the way the set up works you do use the masks quite a bit, hoping from one to another as you go through the worlds. Also, remember, you're not in Hyrule, you're in Termina, so of course the characters will have differnt names. As for the time complaint, well, you just have to learn how to balance your time as certain events will only happen at certain times.

Hey, Captaininfinity don't forget those crappy CD-I and pc Zelda games :p
CD-I games:
1. Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon
2. Zelda's Adventures- In this game you actually be able play as Zelda. and have to rescue Link :) The best game out of the Three.
3. Link: The Faces of Evil
These are worst Zelda games in the history of gaming :p

I didn't mind that the characters had different names, what I didn't like was the fact that they still looked the same as they did in Ocarina of Time when they were supposed to be totally different people.

By the way, those characters in Majora's Mask were INTENTIONALLY given the same character models as certain characters in Ocarina of Time. Termina, the land that Majora's Mask takes place in, is a parallel dimension to Hyrule. Therefore, certain Hyrulean characters from Ocarina of Time appear as different characters in Majora's Mask, with different backgrounds, origins, and occupations. They only LOOK the same. That's one of the factors that contributes to Majora's Mask being a very good game. You get to see certain Hyrulean characters (Malon, for example) as they appear in a different dimension. You can then compare the characters as they appear in Ocarina of Time to how they appear in the parallel universe of Majora's Mask. As for the three day limit, you will get used to it as the game goes on. Believe me, once you learn a certain Ocarina song that slows down the passage of time, the three days becomes MORE than enough to complete certain dungeons and quests. You can restart the three days by going back in time, too. This adds a sense of urgency to the game and makes it even better. Play through more of Majora's Mask, you'll see what I mean. This is a game that cannot be experienced fully in a rental.
As for Ocarina of Time, that was a pure masterpiece, and probably one of the best games I've ever played, if not the best. Ocarina of Time was actually the reason that I got my N64, so there.

Exactly BF. Termina is a parallel dimension. It is similar to hyrule, but it exsists in a completely seperate way.

Did I miss something? Did they say Termina was a parallel universe of Hyrule in the beginning of the game, or is that something you're not supposed to find out until later in the game? I sure hope you didn't give me a spoiler, because, as you already know, I never got a chance to finish the game, and I sure wouldn't want any of the surprises to be spoiled.

The manual states that Termina is a parallel dimension of Hyrule, my friend. :)

OoT....One of my all-time favorites. Definitely the best character designs in any Zelda game, good plot, great music and graphics, good amount of challenge, and....Well, hell, it's fun! I didn't like Majora much, though.(And personally, Zelda's quite the cutie.:p)
