View Full Version : News on a new LT movie....
The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly (the one that sports Reese Witherspoon on the cover) has a few lines about a new Looney Tunes movie that's in the works. Jackie Chan says that he's been contacted about starring in "Spy Jam," whereas an insider with AOL Time Warner says the studio is leaning toward a NASCAR-themed flick called "Race Jam." No more plot details about either one are given, but it sounds like both would be live-action/animation movies in the "Space Jam" vein. Doesn't sound great, but those are the latest rumors flying about....

USAToday had similar news with a little more info a while back. There are threads discussing it as well as the text of the article.

YIKES!
So when I joked about Jeff Gordon becoming an actor and starring opposite the Looney Tunes characters, they powers that be were already hard at work on it? I gotta believe that Jeff Gordon would be a worse actor than Michael Jordan!
Now at least Jackie Chan has *some* talent...

It looks like they can't get enough of "Jam" after that Space Jam movie, and it's already years after!

Why anything to do with "Space Jam"? Why live-action? Why anything to do with sports at all? "Spy Jam?" "Race Jam"? Geez, the TAZ movie sounds more interesting! "Space Jam" was very good, but is it the only idea they can come up with?
-Matthew
Perhaps there's going to be a whole mess of "Jam" movies. Isn't the word "jam" outdated yet? I never hear it anymore, it's gone the way of "hip," "fab," and "rad."
Why not make an all animated movie? One that doesn't have a chaos of characters and a real-life person. The "great race" idea was decent. At least then they could split the characters up into separate established teams (like Porky and Daffy ect...).

A movie about Looney Tunes Racing? I wonder if Speedy Gonzales will be involved...
I mean It's the least WB could do for letting Turner pick on poor Speedy.

Okay...the way they do a great race or any racing film with them, it should go the way of H-B's "Wacky races". For example, each team of two or three has a different "funnycar". There would be some kind of a plot, for example, the Nascar racers race the LT racers, or the LT's have to compete for some special prize. Say, Sylvester and Tweety and Granny soup up that old pink car they drove in the KWB series. Wile E. Coyote chases the Road Runner on a treadmill-powered device. Porky and Daffy drive a car and Daffy cheats using his salesman's bag of Acme gadgets. Bugs and Lola or Bugs and Elmer race together, as do Pepe and Penelope...you get the idea. Just an idea...next thing you know they'll actually MAKE that.
-Matthew
Bugs and Lola or Bugs and Elmer race together,
Then Honey Bunny, Bugs' real girlfriend, comes by and kicks Bugsies' butt for cheating on her:)
I like the "Great Race/Wacky Races" idea, at least it has a chance at some new humor since the characters have never been in a racing cartoon before. I also like salesman Daffy. Can the gadgets be from "Ace Novelty Company?"

No.
No.
No means yes, no?
Also, if Sam is in it, he should not be allowed to sing! They should avoid whoever did his voice in "From Hare To Eternity." Six minutes of a jibberish-speaking Sam is too much as it is. I'd run out of the theater if Sam started muttering jibberish again.

yeah, we know, 'medication'...
how about:
if they are going to waste money producing crap (how did Space Jam do at the boxoffice?)...
Take 'What's Opera, Doc?" and scale it up to the whole friggin' opera - the entire cast, the full score - I hate opera, so I don't know which of the 'Ring' this is from, but I'm sure there's a perfect fit for Sam's voice...:D

Lola, Honey, WHATEVER. Neither one ever really thrilled me, and neither one was in the original cartoons. Seems "Honeybunny" was too outdated and they had to give Bugs a naughty looking Playboy-type bunny with big breasts and short shorts. In fact, the latest LT comics issue has a story with Lola in it, she's a pizza delivery girl. And there's a surprising little aside about "generous toppings".....ahem. Anyway, one of them would likely appear in a LT movie.

Ain't I a stinker? I am probably going to have nightmares about that tonight.
I can almost hear this line already:

Yipe.

BTW, Jon, don't show that picture in the "Race Jam" thread over the WBC board, there's a whole slew of people prepared for mass suicide (with one rope) at the sight of such a thing. I can just hear the theme song now...
Jack:eek:
Singer: We got it all together for a brand new show! Tweety Pie is here again away we go!
Bugs Bunny: While Scoob and Taz are running from a spooky ghost...
Singer: Daffy keeps on doin' what he does the most! So come on get involved 'til the mystery is solved!
Bugs Bunny: And hang around for Looney Tunes!
That's My Pal!
Scooby: Scooby Dooby Doooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Jon said that he makes these images on PhotoShop, an awesome program. Where did you get this program? Also, if I could make a request, could you make something like "Bugs Bunny & Friends Meet Woody Woodpecker & Friends"? I'd like to see a line like this:
Daffy: "Woody, did anyone ever tell you that you're rip-off of me?'
Woody: "Loads of times! But I'd rather evolve into a goody two-shoes than a greedy little coward!
Daffy: "Good point....."

p.s. Photoshop is an Adobe product - the folks who had a programmer jailed because he figured out HOW to de-code PDF's - didn't use the knowledge, just acquired it. I don't like them anymore...

Why the heck would anyone want Bugs and Elmer to race together?! Elmer is a hunter, Bugs is his prey. That's the way it should remain. Even if not, Elmer is way too dumb to work with Bugs. In the modern era we've seen too many examples of adversaries working together, i.e., Sylvester and Tweety. What's next? The Road Runner and the Coyote? I can see it now...
Wile E.: Let us put aside our adversarial ways for the moment. With my genius and your speed we shall make a most extraordinary team. Don't you agree?
Road Runner: Beep beep
Wile E.: Oh, um pardon me whilst I get my universal translator. Now let's see, um, 'Beep...beep.'
Translator reads: Okay, I'll bring the bagels.
Wile E.: Mmm, bagels. I'm starved...which is extremely logical, considering I've been unsuccessfully pursuing you for 52 years.
Road Runner: Beep beep
Translator reads: And you never will get me. Sick dumbass.
If they're gonna merge cartoon worlds to make a crappy big screen movie, why not make a race movie with Buddy and Bosko teaming up against Lippy the Lion and Hardy Harr Harr? I know that I'd pay seven bucks to see that!

Bosko and Buddy are completely forgotten outside of this board.
Who are "Lippy the Lion" and "Hardy Harr Harr"? Are they some weirdo studio cartoons?
Who are "Lippy the Lion" and "Hardy Harr Harr"? Are they some weirdo studio cartoons?
They were Hanna-Barbera creatons. Lippy was a lion (well, you probably guessed that) and Hardy Har Har was a laughing hyena. They used to be shown as "Toon Extras" after movies and such before they switched to showing Cartoon Cartoons as fillers. They also showed "Tuche Turtle," (sp?) a Musketeer-like turtle. I don't remember the content of the cartoons anymore.

Yeah, Lippy and Hardy were made by one of those small weirdo studios called Hanna-Barbera. Lippy was voiced by Daws Butler (the same voice would be used a few years later as the voice of Peter Potamus) and Hardy Har-Har was voiced by Mel Blanc. They show up as filler on Boomerang these days... along with Touche Turtle, Wally Gator, and others.

And, of course, Touche Turtle's voice is that of Droopy's Bill Thompson (at a speed closer to the one Thompson gave the ranger in Jack Hannah's Humphrey Bear cartoons), while his sidekick, Dum Dum, was done by Alan Reed in what could best be described as a "Fred Flintstone-after-being-conked-on-the-head-with-a-bowling-ball" voice.
