If there is any Power Rangers fans like myself, look at this!

http://www.toonzone.net/shows/images/abcfamily/foreverred.gif

The episode is called "Forever Red" and airs October 12 on ABC Family. I hope it airs on ABC because I live in Canada.

Cool, I used to be a big fan of Mighty Morphin, but all the new ones are just dumb. (No offence to anybody who likes the new ones)

Do you think they'll have all of the Red Rangers from each show or something?

David64ca
07-26-2002, 01:31 PM
Yes. All the Red Rangers from the past will return. From what I heard, only 3 actors will not return for their rolls. They will probably be replaced. But Jason David Frank (Tommy) and Austin St. John (Jason) will be in it for sure. They were in the original show.

I watched the orignal show. And I watch the new ones. I think Power Rangers In Space (1998) and Power Rangers Time Force (2001) were much better than the old ones and some of the new ones.

Anyways... That's my opinion.

Whoa.....

That is so cool. I think it would be great if they had a multipart episode, there are just too many rangers to hold them all to one show.

So we know that the first Red Ranger and the Zeo Red Ranger are back. I think we can assume that the Time Force Red Ranger and the Wild Force Red Ranger will be back too. I want to see this episode.

Later.

Grrrrrr.....

All the ways that series like Space and Time Force are infinately more superior in everyway except for kitch value are mind boggling.

New ones are dumb? Space, a lone Ranger teams up with planetary Rangers to search the Galaxy for Zordon and his lost sister to find out his sister has become his mortal enemy. By the end of the series this lone Space Ranger not only cuts down his own sister, but Zordon as well! His sister came back to life, but Zordon stayed dead.

Time Force, a Time Force cop named Jen gathers a group of rookies and rejects, travels back in time to arrest the murderer of her fiance.

Mighty Morphing.... Five teenages "with attitude" are pulled together to fight Rita and her latest hair-brained scheme.

Which one of these concepts is the most dumb?

Sorry, if you couldn't tell from my avatar I'm kind of a PR Otaku. Even run a site promoting its Japanese more serious counter-part, Sentai. Where it's Green Ranger, known as the Dragon Ranger, died instead of merely just losing his powers.

Anyway, onto subject! Rumour about this has been going around for about a year that a reunion was in the works, and it wasn't until just now that I see a picture that confirms it!

Wild Force celebrates the Power Ranger's Tenth Anniversary the same time that it's Japanese equivalent, Gaoranger, celebrated its Twenty-Fifth Anniversary in the insanely cool and thorough movie Gaoranger vs Super Sentai. (http://www.fortunecity.com/tatooine/halojones/75/gao/gaovssent.html)

Check out their Red Ranger Reunion (http://www.fortunecity.com/tatooine/halojones/75/gao/gaomov1-35.jpg) photo.

And just check it out in general... great screen captures. I got my hands on a RAW copy with no subtitles(But as we speak, Japan Hero is working to get it subtitled!), and watched it with some friends and it just awesome!

I can't wait to see Forever Red, thanks for the update on the exact date! I really hope this reunion episode lasts more than just one episode tho. At the extreme least, make it a two parter so we can get a feel for all our old favorites. I still feel Tommy's a chump, but it'll be good to see him fight along side Jason again. Glad to see Eric the Quantum Ranger is also included in the Forever Red festivities! Not only do we get to see Wes and Eric battle tomarrow in the crossover, but in the Forever Red Reunion too!!!

Only Ranger I heard not coming back is Danny Slavin's Leo... his costume's there, I wonder if he will be.

Wonder how they're going to explain Jason's Power Coin working again, or will it almost kill him like it did with Adam.

Heh.... I wonder if at all they'll touch upon Zordon being dead now.

Tommy: "Ha, ha! Alright guys we did it!"

Jason: "Yeah! Hey man.... where's Zordon these days?"

Andros: "Uhhhhhh..... I got good news and bad news."

Tommy: "What's... the bad news?"

Andros: "I sort of had to, uh.... 'destroy' him...."

Jason:

Tommy:

Jason: "What's the good news???"

Andros: Well, before I did it, he said he'd live on in all our hearts! *smiles sheepishly* :D

Wes and Cole: "Who's Zordon?"
And don't miss the Wild Force/Time Force Team Up this Saturday on FoxKids!

Long live the Power Rangers! :p

I can't wait to watch this. I watched PR up to Zeo, then skipped to Time Force. I checked out the first episode of the other series, but was never really interested. I can't wait to see Jason and Tommy again. Last I saw 'Tommy', he was in Undressed on MTV. He got rid of the long hair. I think that was last year.

Good lord that takes me back (not to imply I'm insanely old or anything, it's just been a while). And hey that one costume in the front looks really cool. It's like the way way back original except with a little added gold and coolness stuff stuck on. :)

I was a fan until the Ninja "era" then I stopped watching, but thisi could be cool. To be honest though, I'm not sure I'll remember to see it, but it sure sounds like a good idea.

I mean, you have all those Power Ranger types through the years, what are you gonna do just forget about them? :)

It's in October? So when September 14th rolls around, ABC won't be airing new "Wild Force" episodes??? Forever Red SHOULD be airing right after the team up with Time Force, not in October

Speaking of Toonzone's announcement of the New ABCfam lineup, WHERE is Digimon Frontier??? :(

It all depends on whether Forever Red has any real role in the advancement of the Wild Force storyline. Most of these teamups and guest appearance eps do little in that regard. (The inSpace/Lost Galaxy two-part teamup is the extreme exception to this)

There could very well be four weeks of new episodes which continue off "The Master's Last Stand," which is the last new episode Fox will show on Aug. 10.

Then you could have Forever on Oct. 12. I thought Forever would have been a great way to say goodbye to Fox Kids, since the gathering of Rangers would represent every series that has appeared on Fox.

But, as we've all seen, Fox doesn't give a *bleep* anymore. The web site has been trimmed to the bare basics, with no mentions of new episodes and no week-to-week episode info on the schedule page.

It's obvious Jindrax and Toxica have something in the works for Master Org. But the upcoming Time/Wild teamup is unlikely to address that (see above).

I'm perplexed about Frontier as well. It certainly may wind up on ABC *whenever* that schedule gets released. But these days, shows need weekday support to do well on Saturdays.

I think this shows that Disney might see more value in and use for PR than it does for Digimon, which is a 180-degree turn from Fox's beliefs.

I always found it ironic that people interrupt threads like these because they deem it "kiddie" when the same people post at a message board and visit a website that's primarily for CARTOONS! LoL, yeah, that's so much more mature than the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers". ;)

In other news, Reinforcements from the Future RULED!!! :D :D :)

I agree. Time Force/Wild Force team-up had a great story, awsome action.

I hope Forever Red has great action like this. "Reinforcement From The Future" was written by a former Power Ranger fan. That is probably why it was so good.

Well, I watched the show all the way up to the end of Turbo. I was really busy for a while after that, so I haven't watched the show since the few episodes I've seen of inSpace. This sounds like it will be a blast though, I just wish that Fox didn't make this show seem so kiddie. That's also what kinda stopped me from ever watching the show anymore.

Reinforcements from the Future part 1 was good! It seemed more like a Time Force episode then a Wild Force one.

Jen looked O.O Like a real warrior babe now hehe

I don't like Wes in the SG uniform though. It's just not him.

Can't wait for part two!

Alright people, and this means you, Dressler and Mad Scientist.. you speak out of close mindedness and ignorance for you don't seem to know what you're talking about clearly.

That Power Rangers is for 13 and under or whatever would seriously indicate you haven't watched or given a single episode a serious chance in about six or seven years. So please guy... if you haven't seen today's episode or PR in the last at least 2-3 years.... away with your comments.

A PR fan can like anything from Cowboy Bebop to Beserk to Invader ZiM to Angel. I know I do, and I dig Power Rangers.... when it deserves it. PR isn't always golden and it's gone through seasons of crap, but to cut on it now is just ignorant.

Missing out on the action direction of Kochi Sakamoto is just being plain blind. PR action sequences rival that and surpass most Hollywood productions.

Anyway, on to the subject..... I say give props to PR episodes that deserve it and roll my eyes to the ones that don't. So far Wild Force has a long way to go to impress me and it finally got there in spades with today's episode!!!!

This episode is up there with the greatest of all PR time including Count Down to Destruction, PRLG's final and Time Force's!!!

The story was great and tight and well paced. Fun interaction between characters and seeing bright and missed faces from the past. I cheered when I saw my boys Wes and Eric again and boy did they make an impression! Eric was awesome, and so's the lil' chemistry going on between him and Taylor, who seems to've gotten back her edge.

I read an interview where she was saying how the producers were taking away her edge in the place of a more softer Taylor. Looks like she got her ***** side back, cuz she was as cocky and gruff as ever. And damn does it look sexy!

Whoever said it first was right, this episode was utterly owned by the Time Force. Wild Rangers except for Taylor were simply background.

I don't know what else to say... I just hope next weeks can live up to this build up. Looked kinda weak with talk of trying to pollute the world.

Will Jen and Wes finally get together???

There were some clever inside jokes to the PR internet community too. Appearently Ransik was being held in the Funaro Max Security Prison. This being a head nod to el Funaroverse, one of the top gun internet site for breaking PR news.

Best lines:

Taylor, "That's my Eagle Zord... bet you've never seen anything like it."

Eric, "A giant eagle? Big deal....... you should see my Q-Rex."

That introduction shot of Jen's new costume..... made me remember why I loved the girl so much.

It's episodes like this I hold aloft that make me proud to be a Power Ranger Fan.

:D

JC, the Sentai versions are SO MUCH better. But how more serious are they?

It's a mixed bag, but on the whole Sentai's more serious. Lemme quote the immortal Jill from Sentai Spoilers:

What is Sentai?
This is a personal home-page. That means that all opinions expressed here are my own. Sentai belongs to Japan as a whole, and Toie and Bandai seem to be mostly in charge. Power Rangers belongs to Saban as a whole, but in America is just a big kids' thing.

I started watching Sentai programs with Jetman. That was really an accident. I was visiting a Japanese friend's house, and her little boy, 3-years old, was watching the program. It caught my eye, and after seeing a few episodes, I was hooked. What hooked me about Jetman? Well, the first thing was the gorgeous guy that episode happened to have in it. But as I watched the series I became firmly attached to the way the stories were told, and the underlying plots. They were good, but they also rapidly showed up what I came to regard as the deficiencies of American children's television.

The (almost) unspoken rules of US Children's TV
Bad guys are ugly.
Bad guys are stupid
Bad guys can't actually hurt you. Or at least not for long.

And if you don't believe me, just go rent the Home Alone movies. They are a primary example of the genre. The contrasting rules of Sentai seem to be:

Don't be fooled by a pretty face, you might get killed.
Bad guys are dangerous.
It can be too late.

Sometimes I think the writers of whichever Sentai program get so involved in telling their stories, that they forget who their target audience is supposed to be. Then again perhaps they don't. It's hard to say. My mother's comment, upon watching a few Jetman, was "They play this for children?!" We concluded that if it were American, it would be one of those late-night horror flicks. I think it was the giant teddy bear firing blasts that left smoking skeletons in their wake that did it.

The basal plot for a Sentai series is this: An enemy threatens the world, a team of heroes fights them and, in the end, wins. The fun part involves reaching that end. On the way there, sometimes heroes get killed. Sometimes heroes reach the end and then get killed anyway. However, you can usually expect all the villains to be dead by the end.

These days Sentai shows run for one year, from mid-February to mid-February. The default number of heroes is five, and there are robots for each of them which combine to form a giant fighting machine. Aside from that similarity between each series, there is considerable difference between them in how the story is told, what the underlying message is, in the personalities of the characters....

I can hear you muttering, "Well, yeah, there is the giant killer teddy-bear, but how does this differ from Power Rangers, really?" Anyone who follows both sets can tell you. And so can I. This is a Power Rangers quote from the 2000 edition, Lightspeed Rescue: "The city suffered minimal damage and no one was hurt!" That pretty much sums it up. Then there was the time a hero fought a villain, and under his commander's orders was forced to put out a fire in a parking garage, rather than get a family out of danger, so a little boy was injured. He was very angry with his commander, until he discovered that near the fire were gas tanks. And imagining the garage exploding with fireballs, he thinks: "If I hadn't put out the fire, more people might have been hurt!" Hurt. For crying out loud, if the garage had gone up in flames, people would have died! Sorry, off on a tangent, here.

Being as America is a country full of a multitude of cultural and ethnic diversity, one underlying theme of Power Rangers is: No matter how different we look, we're all the same underneath. This is an excellent theme. The Sentai underlying theme on the same subject, being from a country where just about everyone has various shades of black hair and black eyes, is: No matter how different we are, we can work together for the common good. And that, absolutely, is an excellent theme. I cannot say that either is better, but in a way, I think the Sentai one is more true. It acknowledges that people can be drastically different from each other. However, it is also more idealized. Namely, people who are drastically different from each other rarely work together.

There's that and take a read at the Dragon Ranger Saga (http://www.fortunecity.com/tatooine/halojones/75/sentai/zrburai.html). Sentai original version of the Green Ranger Saga.

And if that's too long of a read check out check out the super sweet and sad story of Maria (http://www.fortunecity.com/tatooine/halojones/75/jetman/maria.html). It's a quick read, but definately worth the time to check out.

Hope that answers your questions GoufCustom!

*bump*

I hated it when I kill PR Threads by putting in Sentai facts... Anyway, here's one more I found at el Funaroverse in their Fun Facts Section that changed everytime you visit the site:

Funaro's Fun Facts:
The final episode of Dairanger has DaiRed tracking down the final villian (now depowered) and stabbing him to death after an unmorphed knife fight. For some reason, this scene was not adapted in the US.

Dairanger is where the White Ranger, Tiger Zord, and Thunder Zords came from.
