So, how many times did you have to take your driver's test before you passed? And if you didn't pass once or twice, did you think the teacher was wrong, or that your still weren't ready? What was the instructor like: quiet, noisy, mean, scary, etc.?

I can honestly say I never failed my driver's test! :D
Of course, that's because I never took one, go figure. ;) Oh, well, walking is good for your health, so I'm told. And Dolly would be kind of pointless if I had a car, I guess. <shrugs>

I passed my drivers test on the first try. But when I was getting my permit, I failed that test once :p .
My instructor was awesome. He didn't even pay attention to my driving. We talked most of the time and the rest of the time he was looking for a car to buy.

Err.... took me three times -_-'
Once was completely my fault, the other two times were the instructor's. I swear!

I past the written test on my first try! :)
As for the driving part:
Well I took driver's ed one summer and I had two chances there and let's just say that neither of them went very well. My instructor was a gym teacher, he seemed nice, but I don't know that he really cared for me. I think he had to use his brake too often. :o
So then I took it at the DMV. I was doing pretty well and we came to a busy street with a turn lane. The light was regular green (green arrow was gone) and I pulled a bit into the intersection so I would be ready to go when the cars going straight let up. But they kept coming and I had no chance to go. The light changed to red and I went quick because I was in the intersection and couldn't stay there obviously. When we got back the slightly mean tester told my dad "We literally went through a red light" If you get a traffic violation you automatically fail, so I did.
I had a real problem with this because when the light is plain old green EVERYBODY pulls slightly into the intersection! (There wasn't a red arrow, in case you are wondering.) I couldn't go until there was a break in the cars and that didn't happen until the light changed because they are always people who speed through on yellow.
Well then I had nice instructor for my fourth try and he was really nice and I passed! Finally being able to drive without my parents. What a great day. Man, that was SIX YEARS AGO!! I feel old. :(

You have to take it twice in Ontario to get the full license. There's a 20 minute test for a kind of half-a-license (you can drive around alone, but there are certain limits to when you can drive during the day), then the whole shebang after a longer, 30-40 minute test.
I passed the actual driving tests, but I did fail the written test the first time I did it! (I studied for 15 minutes) :o

written test i took twice. first time i took it, i got nine wrong with a maximum of 5 wrong to pass the test.
i took the driving test once and passed it. it was a very easy test. i didn't even get tested on parallel parking which to this day i still have trouble doing. driving, for the most part is easy, parallel parking on the other hand is less so.

I passed my written and road tests the first time. They were so easy.

Written only once, road test twice. The instructor I had was mean, and didn't come off as very friendly and I think that made me more nervous.

Some days, we don't let the line move at all. We call those weekdays! - Patti or Selma, regarding the DMV.
Ugh, I hated my DMV experiences. I passed the written learner's test on the first try - you know, all the signs and the scenarios on the touch-screen computer - and I didn't even read the book for that one. I figured it was gonna cake-walk.
Six months later, when the driver's test comes around, I failed. OK, maybe I was just nervous the first time. Second time: failed. I forgot to put on my turning signal to indicate that I wanted to go straight forward. (Yeah. Really.) And THEN I forgot to put on my parking brake on completely level ground in the DMV parking lot. Bah.
Then came the third time. It was set on the ONE snowy day of the year, so the roads were all icy, and I thought it was pointless for me to have my test that day. I didn't pay, I didn't go.
So, the third time happened in the spring at a different DMV in the area. Maybe I'd have better luck, right? Nope. I was on a cross-street during a police chase that swung past me and nearly clipped my car. I was given mega-demerits there because I "was stopped at the stop sign and not at a place that was safely out of harm's way."
Fourth time, at yet another local DMV, I finally got it...and I was 18. Bah. British Columbian DMVs are the worst; not one of my instructor's was cool. Hell, two of them didn't even do up their seat belt!

It took me 6 freakin' times to pass the written test (actually is on a computer). But, I pass the road test in one shot. The guy who tested me was okay. Not very talkative. That's cool because rather he concentrate on what I was doing than have him talk to me. Plus, I was a complete nervous wreck. If he had talk to me, it would make it worse.
But, for my driving school, I had the best driving instructor. He really awesome. The car I got to drive was VW Cabriolet convertable. It was awesome! :D He let me drive with the top down sometimes, and even let drive on the parkway on the second day! :D I even learned how to use the cruise control! Totally cool! Plus, he cute too! ;)

It took me once. :D
My written test was easy but I barely passed it! My actual behind the wheel test was extremely easy. I expected to do lane changes and whatever but all I did was go around the block, make stops and make turns. Of course, that was only one part of the behind the wheel test. The other part involved driving through the cones. That was hard but fortunately I passed.
My instructor was very cool. The only thing wrong with him was that he smoked but he was easy-going. We even talked about our summers, topics that I wouldn't normally associate with driving. I even convinced him to get doughnuts one day! My instructor for the test was a black woman who was very easy-going, quiet and focused which made it easy for me.

Passed the written and actual driver's test first time, no problem. I got like five points offthe driver's test for not looking enough, so the instructor said. Which was so not true! I was looking around so much I was almost going crosseyed...but I had sunglasses on, which is always good to have on because of sun glare, but because I had them on the instructor couldn't see my eyes. So she only noticed me looking when I turned my head, oh well. I had two younger friends both fail their first driver's test, and althoughthey were bummed and thought the reasons were stupid, I think it was good they didn't pass then becausr obviously they still had stuff to work on!

Aced the written test the first time I took it. But when it came to the actual driving, I got extremely nervous. :o Finally passed it on the third try, and even got a funny story out of the deal.
This test was held at a DMV that was waaaaay out in the country. How far out, you ask? Well, practically the only other traffic I encountered on the road was a conbine. As Dave Barry would say, I swear I am not making this up. :p
So anyway, I'm stuck a few feet behind this conbine, which is taking up more than half the road, and I'm trying to see around him, looking for an opportunity to pass. But before I could signal, he stopped - and started backing up. Fortunately, there was no one behind us (no one around for miles, I think), so I just put that ol' station wagon in reverse, backed away from the conbine, and finally was able to get around him. (And for once, I didn't panic! :D )
And that's how ol' SSC got her driver's license.

Passed on my first try. They don't even make you go onto a road here. It was basically, park, backup, and turn around. Too easy.

Breezed through the computer test for my learner's, aced the written exam for my licence, failed my first driving test meiserable before the parallel parking exercise. Breezed thew it the seccond time though. :) All of my instructors were really cool and the people at the DMV were pretty good too, though really slow sometimes. :(

Studied and passed the written easy enough, and the diving test consisted of bringing your car down to the community rec center when the Cop that did the test was there, the Cop get in the drivers seat and the test consists of the following:
Cop: "Do you have air conditioning?"
Me: "Yes."
Cop: "Turn it on, pull out and turn right out of the parking lot......turn right......turn right......turn right......turn right into the parking lot and park......ok you passed."
Thats it, and we were on back roads with out another viecle(sp?) in sight after that right after getting out of the parking lot, only a few stop signs, I don't even think there were any points only pass/fail.
And Just think people in the State I currently live in dive more than in any other State in the US.

I passed on my first time. My instructor was a funny old lady though who kept calling me "her baby". Actually, now that I think about it, she called everyone that, even my dad! :p

I passed the written portion on the first try! Go me!! :D
But the driving? Ugg... three tries...
The first time I was going down a hill that turned into a 20 mph zone about half way down, on the way down it I was breaking and yet the speedometer read 21 when we passed the sign. I failed for that.
The second time, was the same guy. Didn't do anything major, just enough minor stuff. After the test the guy told me I should go back to Drivers Ed and come back in 6 months.   I wanted to rip his freaking head off.
Third time, it was a different guy, very laid back. The only thing I couldn't do was parallel park (still can't  ).
But that was about five years ago. And I'm not bitter. No sir! ;)

Man, the only thing that scares me now about driving is parking in reverse. I know it ain't tough, but I usually try to avoid it. If I can pull in head-first, why go in the hard way? I'm just not accustomed to it!

(who knows someone who, believe it or not, needed to be tested 6 times...and has a grandmother that still doesn't even have a license)

Took me two tries to pass the written exam. After the second time, the DMV was locking its doors and the security guards wouldn't let me out unless I sang a Disney song of my choice for them. One of them was kidding, the other was serious. :o
I passed the behind the wheel test on my first try. My instructor was actually nice, and marked me off accordingly. She also said I did an excellent job overall, especially on the freeway part of the test. :)

I passed both the permit and driving test the first time. Yah! Although I just barely passed you can miss a total of 12 points, and I missed in 10
I got marked off because I didn't have my blinker on in the turn lane, and I had to parrelell park twice. And I suck at parrelell parking.
My instructor was nice, allthough I think it may have been because she was somewhat high. I am serious when I say she smelled of weed. And when we were driving for some reason or another she would just start laughing. huh... kinda makes me wonder if I really did pass my test ;) Oh well people on that side of the valley are a bit nutty.

I did terrible on the driving part the things I missed was doing the three point turn around, reversing and putting my head back to look, and making a wide right turn.

Took it once, couldn't parallel park to save my butt, the test conductor that I got was hella scary-looking though O_O! My drivers test was probably the LAST place he wanted to be.
And yet I still passed XD.
