The Sonic the Hedgehog comic....

Whee! One hundred posts!
And for that occasion I'd like to talk about something that reached a hundred issues...
....The Sonic Comic! It's one of the best comics out there, and the only comic I buy regularly, so buy an ish and read it! You shan't regret it!
Who else does read it right now? If so, what do you think of how the comic's stories are doing right now?

I've read it before, it's pretty good. It's from Archie. The Knuckles comic was pretty interesting as well, but it got canned in 1999 didn't it?

They did have a Knuckles comic and it was really cool but them some smart ass suit desided to stick Knuckles in the Sonic comic to save money *hmph*.

They also cancelled the Super Specials...(sniff)....if they kept Knuckles around for the Sonic Adventure adaption, many Sonic fans (including me) say, it coulda been saved, due to many people possibly getting interested in the comic due to playing the SA1 game....

Well, some of the super specials sucked, They stupidly canned the Knuckles series (Damn!), and the SA adaption was weird to say the least. But all and all, I still love the comic book. I hope they don't make the same mistake with #100 like they did with #50.

They probably have. They have Ron Lim pencilling it! I mean, the 100th issue and LIM pencilling it! They should have had Patrick Spazitine do the art....but that's all I know of this issue....

....one hundred issues....but with all the awful plots it won't last another hundred....

The one with Sonic as Sneak had to be the worst. I mean why would they try to make sonic into a superhero?

Sigh...I just do not know. As for 98, well, Sega wanted the tie-end to concede with the SA2 release-and we needed that issue to help establish whatever's gonna happen in ish 100 (have not read it yet....)....remember around ish 75 and 76? When Robotnik returns? THAT was some good storytelling! It was nice to see Robotnik not only back, but to show how cruel he can be...but now I don't know what is with him.

One of the problems with the comic is, Sega. They seem to think that Sonic won't be cool any more if he crys. That he has to keep shooting off corny line after corny line to be cool. It's that, and some BIG plot holes that keep the comic from becoming any better.

True, true. And Sega made the writers put Sonic and Tails go solo in issues 57-67....with lame backup stories on chars we do not care about....probably why a lot of people praised the Knnuckles comic at the time....Knux's comic was doing wonderfully at that time.

I hope whatever the STORY is in ish 100, it's good....but I hear the Knuckles back up story is not pleasing....

Yeah, I'm a fan of the comic. To tell you the truth, I thought #100 was pretty disapointing. They should've made the issue a LOT thicker. I like Knuckles, but I really don't like the Knuckles stories. There WAY too serious and WAY too boring. What happened to the funny Sonic? I liked that a lot. The comic has gotten to serious, I'd like to see a comical story, like the old days. They seem to have gotten rid of The Off-Pannel, my favorite part of the comic. I especially liked the one where Jerry Springer said to Sonic and Knuckles fighting, that they were too "real" for the show. LOL. And I really don't like the new design. It looks too much like that Japanese crap. Tails used to be really cute, but now he's not as cute, IMO. BTW, wasn't Tails supposed to be getting his own series, due to popular demand? I'd really like to see that.

Well, I haven't read #100 yet. But as for Tails, well now the comic says the Tails we know, isn't the real Tails. That right there came out of the blue. I'm not sure when that Tails series is going to start, if ever.

The fact that Tails is not Tails was NOT a good plot point....I fear for where the real Tails is...I fear for the comic in general. Sigh...

Off-panel, when it has the Sonic chars and other members of the production crew, is good. But when it has just the editor....bleh.

The Knux stories were great! They made Knux into a believable char and gave him nearly everything you could think of! As for seriousness, well, I agree that Sonic needs his old attitude again, but Knux is okay...

Ish 50 was suppose to be thick too....but it got cut down. Ish 100 was probably in the same boat...

Remember the good ol' days when Sonic used to ALWAYS call Robotnik "Ro-BUTT-nik"? I'll take back what I said about Knuckles, I recently read some back issues of his short-lived series and they were great! Also, I thought that the one SONIC SUPER SPECIAL was sort of a let-down. Why did Archie have to be so cheap, and get super heros who nobody knows? I would've liked to see a cross-over with DC. I would've loved to see a race between Sonic and the Flash.

Yes! Sonic 50 the Directors Cut is EXCELLENT! My fav page is the completely blank one; it made a LOT more sense with that page in!

The writers are very good ones, (check out Knux comic in general and Sonic 53, 75-78 for examples) but the comics, due to bad deadlines and STUPID management, have fallen in dark times....

....btw, I think Sonic would win...but then again, I do not know much about Flash....so I'll be neutral on the manner.

BTW, you guys read Dan Dranzen's comic reviews? They are a good source of info...

Yeah, I read the one's on TSF all the time. He's right most of the time too, I do disagree sometimes though.

If the Flash can go beyond Mach 1, he's faster then Sonic. Mach 1 is Sonic's max speed.
